N64
Colin - STAPUFT replied to saabgotbass's topic in Video Games (All consoles) Ratings, previews, demos......the latest
Our 64 is on the fritz, but we managed to get all the good games for it. We started scooping up games years ago when the GameCube came out and N64 games were cheap cheap. I've got Conker's IN THE BOX. lol. -
Wicked. That is a lot of speaker in a small room! And with McIntosh power on tap, I bet it will get crazy loud WHILE being clean. I love McIntosh equipment. I managed to get 4 McIntosh silk domes years ago- I went from cheap peizos to those (not really knowing what I had) and my eyes were opened. Sadly- no other McIntosh gear has come my way as easy as those tweeters did. So you know the question... got any vids?

Well, as an update... my 4 1600 Brutus '08 models made it through this weekend.... (Yeah- as in 5 years old) Demo after demo, then did 2 Street Beat runs back to back at full tilt on antique floppy suspension subs (150.8 peak dropped to 149.7 b/c I wasn't paying attention to voltage), then did more demos for 15 minutes playing the same track at the same volume.... and after all of that.... the amps were as cool as cucumbers. At the show there were two dudes talking crap (about everyone's systems) but also about Hifonics when they saw my amps. ...funny, they didn't have rides in the lanes or even cars there with systems. Hmm. I still ain't even mad.

Psh! Whatevs! I have 4 Hifonics 1600s on 12 12s and I just hit 150 deeee beeez! (yeah, seriously- but ask me if I loose sleep at night.) Right now I would rather have money in the bank and no payments instead of different amps. But that is my situation and my choice. Big whup. Steve did buy this directly from a brick store, so- take the price for what you will. If memory serves, I paid something like $150 for my 1600s. And it was one here, one there sort of thing. I feel they were worth it then, but I would love a single amp- oh, say a single DC 10.0k. But until I have that kind of money or care that much, I will keep what I have. I'm not hating on Hifonics, far from it- but I'm not tilting my hat to the side and saying "yeah bruh- 1600 watts, chrome, blue leds!" either. (I have a bit of a dislike for many Kicker fans for that reason, but it could just be my town. Who knows. Again thanks a bunch to Steve who did this test and made the vid. Oh the fun that has ensued. ....Oh Lordy loo. I may have been running Hifonics before hating Hifonics was cool. ....maybe.

Hey- gotta' run with what works for you. At least you had the stones to try something different. I just noticed from the photos and your vid that you are running 4 AlphaCell batteries in the back. I recently put in 2 AlphaCells in the van. I did have just the under hood battery, but after adding the 2 AlphaCells, stuff got serious. I couldn't be happer with them. I take it you like yours as you still have them and said you don't have voltage problems. Rolling Thunder's looking good and sounding Strong. Awesome as ever Will. Keep it up brother.

The F*ck That Post

^ haha! No doubt. It was bad... everything went into slow motion too. There wasn't time for anything else. No way to unhook or cut wires, no way to pull each 65 lb battery, nothing. In about a second, that wrench had begun to glow a bit. Right in the middle of the wrench, the chrome just went away. That joker stayed hot for like 10 minutes afterward too. Oh man- straight scary stuff. -

I finally get secondary batteries.... wire them together with double runs of 1/0.... then the 7/16 Craftsman wrench slips and falls across the + & - leads. Arc, Spark, and weld city. In about 1 second the wrench becomes a huge, super-heated fuse. No choice: grab it with hand and YANK the wrench off of the terminals. Yeah... likely battery damage, a big time scare, and a burn on my hand. F THAT!
