  1. First off, this is for a quad cab truck. So the stock setup is a pair of 6x9's in the front doors and a pair of 5.25's in the rear. I am going to replace the door speakers with some focal 6.5 components in Q-logic kick panels and I'm actually thinking about putting a second set of the same focals in the doors to make sure the front has enough mid/high. Second, I have an enclosure being made for under the rear seat in which will have 2 JL10W6V2's. So my question is this....this will not be a competition system, pure SQ. So now, with the bass pouring out of the back, is there really any reason to keep the rear speakers? My thinking is that they won't even be heard. Thoughts? Kev
  2. Thanks Steve :^ amatt85 - Call Bill and get his reccomendation. He'll tell you where to go for exactly what your buddy needs. If you don't like what he says or need a second opinion, let me know, I'll give you some more people to talk to. Kev
  3. Hey bro.... 5.9l Gas or Diesel? How much weight does he tow? Torque Converters are funny things, cause pending on the stall speed, he'll have to adjust his VB as well, Unless he goes for a factory replacement. I can give the da man when it comes to torque converters, but I am not sure what he does for gassers (if this is what your buddy has). DTT Performance talk to Bill Kondolay - 1-866-504-4002 He's a good buddy of mine..he'll talk your head off and will NEVER steer you wrong!
  4. Yeah, it was by total accident. I'm always over there at the diesel board contributing..so when one of the guys linked back to the audio site and had steve's board listed, it caught me off guard...I had to take a double take. lol
  5. Eh Bro check this out...even the guys over at DTW are talkin' bout ya. You da Man!!! http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines.com/fo....ten?id=231516L Kev
  6. Me neither, the bell housing of the tranny is so big that you sit sideways in the car..but i had a chance to drive it for free..so I figured WTF..why not. I will say though..it was damn fast. BTW..that CLK above is sick...
  7. i know its outta the price range, but Saturday morning I had to take my truck in for some service and they had the new 07 8.3ltr Viper sitting outside. They just washed/waxed it, so of course I find my sales guy and tell him I wanna drive it :-* That freag'n thing has some nuts to it. 550hp/6spd For a meer 85g's. NO thanks..but it sure was nice. 7 speaker stock stereo system with a single 10 inch sub (sounded pretty decent). Rag top, 22 inch wheels, Michelin Pilot Power tires. I was only able to get her up to about 80...but it was worth it.
  8. Just holla..I'll help ya out any way that I can. I'm always on MSN Messenger if you wanna shoot me an IM.
  9. Actually it would affect the alternator, cause the engine is turning the belt at a set speed (RPM). So changing the pulley on the charger will just help gain back HP. But the alternator will only spin as fast as the belt. So the question is, at what desired RPM is your alternator giving out peak power? You have to stay within that RPM range.
  10. Here's the thing. Your Charger gains power from the serpentine belt, which turns as a result of your engine. So if your motor has less rpms (smaller overall gear ratio) due to bigger tire rotation, that means your charger will/can produce less power at the same rpm as without the rims. So typically you want to go down 1 size in your pully to make up for the lost rotations on both the charger and the alternator (especially if its a high current alt powering something. That way you have the same power as before at the same rpms. Unless in fact that you are trying to change your power band. :^ Does that make sense? Kev
  11. Very Well said. As to the note about the alternator goes, don't forget, bigger rims produce lower rpms on the motor, which in returns makes the alternator spin slower, so a pulley swap is not a bad idea, pending on current draw. Kev
  12. thats some pretty cool stuff. ;D I've always wanted to drop some 3 wheel motion on my truck...
  13. If your just replacing the old one...plug the old one in, take down all of the Login and IP information. Input the same information in the one and whoola..done. Not sure whom your provider is, but my provider (Qwest) requires a couple of unique settings to connect to their service. Its easy, don't get discouraged.
  14. Dude..that is hillarious. Did ya'll see Steve trying to be all sensitive when her shit fell out..lmfao
  15. Actually, I am very familiar with testing software as I work on servers/networks as a career. I was just curious which toolset you used. Anyone else have any direct comparisons??
  16. Out of curiosity, what did you use in measure the test? I ask, cause I have an Intel dual core 2.8 (820) and a Xeon 2.8. In MIPS testing the Xeon steps all over the dual core. Surprised the heck out of me. Must be the 2mb L2
  17. Ok guys...I know this is going to start a flame war..but that is not my intention. Here is what I am curious to know. Has anyone used any benchmarking software to actually test the performance between the two procs? I will be starting my build here pretty soon and am debating between the two brands. My system will start out with 4gb's of ram and two dual core procs. This pc needs to have the the highest number of MIPS I can get out of it, as it is going to be a security auditing pc. Kev
  18. What your talking about is the wastegate. Its a flange that either sits on the turbo, or in the exhaust right at the turbo. Here's what happens, then the turbo or charger is producing boost, there will be a hole in which the air flows through. This hole has a plate inside in which the air pushes on, this plate then has a spring on the other side, in which pushes on a shaft. This Shaft then in return opens the flange on the wastegate. If you know anyone that knows about wastegates, they can adjust it to open up later. But pending on the vehicle, this might throw a check engine light on. My trucks wastegate stock is set for 24lbs the check engine light comes on at 26lbs...if this helps any. Kev
  19. From the sounds of it...(I haven't worked on a cobalt yet), it sounds like its pretty easy to swap out the fuelling system. I would definately start with bigger injectors (pending on price) and then throw on some more boost. That will be your best bet for reliablility...till you can get the motor broken in and see what she is capable of.
