  1. Nothing against the 8s but you could do a couple of 10s and wouldn't take up that much more space. Just another option. Again the 8s are awesome and you will get pretty good sound out of them, just not a ton of it on 400 watts. As far as the amp goes you will want to get two subs that are both dual 4 ohm coils. With the coils on each sub in series and then subs in parallel giving you a final 4ohms. Then bridge the two rear channels on the amp to the subs. The front channels will go to your door speakers. Edit: I guess I didn't read very well and thought you emailed to ask and were still waiting on a response, my bad. I thought you needed an answer not just got an answer. Anyway yeah, good luck.
  2. Yeah man its all good. Don't take anything from those guys without assuming its sarcastic first. They usually just want to help though. Like you said earlier, get it all done and then check that stuff with a DD-1. My buddy had the shop do his stuff and he blew a 300w sub on a 300w amp. Why? they set the gains by ear. He took it in and they said, oh you can't change settings on your deck and then sold him a JL for 100 bucks to replace it. But the idiots set the EQ flat and told him to leave it alone. Well thats not how it should work. Set your gains right and it will be no issue.
  3. First off post in the right section with your own thread and not on someone else thread. Then maybe you will get some answers. I know your first was to Jacob but that's still not what this thread is for so post up your own thread and see if you can get some answers. Secondly, and this is the more important one to me (also I'm not deliberately trying to be a dick) but who the hell spends $4000 dollars on stuff that they don't know what to do with or how to use it. I'm thinking maybe you should figure out if it will fit you application before you buy. I mean $4000 into it and you are just now asking what to do. If you wanted a wall you should have figured out what your electrical can handle, how much space you are dealing with, how much power and electrical upgrades you need and then start looking into subs. Anyway, make a thread and ask there, in the right section or nobody will answer anyway. Also Jacob is a busy man. He does his job well, but understand that replying to you on this thread is not his job. Your box isn't his problem, but he is awesome and he and his company have great customer service so he does reply when time permits just because that's what kind of dude he is. Does his job plus some. Now that I'm over that, I wish I knew more so I could help. When you make a new thread be sure to give all the info you have. What type of car and subs and amp... Measurements if you can get them. Tell us about the power you are running and the electrical you have. I am fairly certain that if you do make a thread with this info, someone will end up being very helpful. I'm just not that guy.
  4. When I get a free moment I will be working up a beefy under-hung coil for the NS v.3 motor -- mainly for myself... but anyone else can buy one I guess I'm gonna start saving a few money pennies then I was already. I had in mind that NS6.5 component set. Now I gotta get this too. Might as well get sundown amps and have a whole Sundown system. You're killing me Jacob, keep it up, might be a bit but I'll have one.
  5. Man I've been wanting an SQ oriented 10 or 12. Also always wanted something as beefy as these. I know which one now. Also thanks for the vids. I feel special since I asked on Facebook and then here they are.
  6. You won't hear clipping usually. And did the coils go? Or just the cone?
  7. Do you need the coaxials? The components are only 200 and are pretty great.
  8. So try some new RCA's and set the gains right. I have never personally verified that the clipping detector on sundowns to be perfect. The whole speaker wire thing makes me think its a bad connection which could also hinder the sound. If you can fit that much speaker wire in the gap you need better RCA's.
  9. You did what? I don't think I'm understanding you on this. Also tell us about your gain. How did you set it?
  10. Redo the amp and HU grounds. Even if you think the are good, just do them better. That's almost always the problem.
  11. Bad ground or cheap RCA's running along side power wire.
  12. If you need the shallow SD-2 then get it, if not get 2 E-8s for the sameish price. build a good box for them and they will sound nice.
  13. Agreed, tuned to low/mid 30s. Deaden the doors and it will help mid bass giving a better blend.
  14. Moves some air doesn't it? Got the dudes hair blowing up with the air coming out of the port.
  15. The SA set is a good set no doubt. I am trying to be patient waiting form the NS set.
  16. 28 inches tall by 45 wide by 15 deep. Subs forward port up. Slot port 13.5 (15 deep minus the wood so .75 for each) by 7 inches wide by 17 inches long. This should give you a little over 7 cubic feet after woofer displacement tuned to 35hz. I don't know if those measurements will work but if not let us know and maybe I or someone else can figure something out for you. Also if those wont work let us know what your max dimensions are.
  17. Awe man. I'm sorry. That's rough. Thoughts and prayer out to you and your family.
  18. Sometimes there are decent sized gaps between panels and braces. Use some expanding foam like "great stuff" to fill in the gaps. But like Skippy said be careful it gets messy. Once you have things braced sufficiently and everything tightened down then put that second skin on there. There are several write ups about deadener and dampening. A search on Google should bring them to you. In reality 25%coverage will reduce the resonant frequency. I do full coverage and I guess technically I'm wasting money but I don't care and do it anyway.
  19. Damplifier pro. I'm not sure how much. Measure the length and width of what you want to deaden multiply them and buy a little more than that square footage. Alsowatch one of eds videos on showtimespl about deadening. He has some interesting ideas.
  20. Use some second skin and do a good single layer. That is equivalent to some others double layer. If you are trying to stop flex deadener will only do so much. Like Skippy asked what are your goals with this?
  21. Arc audio se4200. 200watts per channel @ 2 ohms. 1 ohm stable, or 2 ohm stable bridged at 400watts x2. Expensive though, and big.
  22. No vs threads... wait... Yes a dd1 will benefit you. No it won't hurt sundown amps, or any other amp for that matter. Not having one will hurt your subs though.
  23. Yes 4 8s will handle more than 2 10s. I would go with the 4 8s for that amp.
  24. Easiest I think would be common chamber subs forward port up. I don't know if it would be better or worse that being isolated but I do think subs forward port up will be best however you decide the subs should interact. First priority is your girl and that baby so I would opt for easiest way to get loud, so IMO common chamber.
