sorta... you want to have a higher db crossover because it will protect your speaker more but the trade off is less of a blend in between componants example is on my setup when i first had it installed i had the amp crossover at ~90hz and the deck crossover at 100hz. When i played a 20k-20hz sweep there was an ovious break. so i changed my deck crossover to 50hz and uped the amp crossover to ~100hz and added some punch bass boost i got a sound i liked. But one of my speakers tinsil leads broke(im not sure if thats related thou but i took action anyway) so i uped the deck cross to 75hz and lowered the boost

i just had my car detailed the 27th at like 10pm and it rained all day starting at 830am... FUCK THAT

ok lets start from the beg... A crossover is a device that cuts off a certain level of signal per octave at a certain starting point (freq) Example of this is a 12db HPF set at 100hz so at 100hz your signal should be uneffected but at an octave below 100hz the signal will be -12db and -24db the next octave and so on. So if you were to combine an active 12db HPF with the amp 12db HPF @ 100hz You would effectively make a 24db crossover because the singnal an octove below 100hz would be -24db not -12. Like burrito said there are several pros and cos with steeper (higher #) crossovers.... You get less of a blend because more freq is being cut so it could be harder to tune without getting lost freqs but a steeper slope allows more volume because the freqs you want to cut have an overall lower db level

btw not meaning to thread jack but if you could find the 4" fnqs i have the midbass crossovers if you keep these and want to do a 3way (just throwing a FYI out there)

ehh... on some songs its mindblowing and others its non existant... then again i have them powered by the 801x and it may have the bass boost on but my deck and amp crossovers work quite well (i cut the deck cross and put the amp on all pass for a sec and it sounded like i just installed an audiobahn amp with the gain at max at ~40hz)
