  1. From a gamer standpoint go with ATI... you'll have all the eye candy for the upcoming games due to the DX11 support.
  2. Currently ATI parts destroy Nvidias... But the thing is they are having issues with yielding and producing 40nm gpus... So there isn't enough supply for all the demand. So hands down I would go with ATI.
  3. The i7 920 by any means isn't old or out dated. But you would only go with an socket 1336 imo if you need that extra channel or pci-e lane. An Silvia... if you are running multiple displays I like eyefinity
  4. If you are willing to drop a hundred or so on a sound card with x-ram go ahead... But other than on board sound works perfectly fine. Are you seriously an audiophile? Like it will completley depend on your speakers too. Logitechs don't cut it. I am talking about studio monitors...
  5. The 5870 shouldn't have a problem doing that... What resolution?
  6. The setup I listed will be MORE than enough. Do you need a hdd or a dvd drive?
  7. Also Tri-SLI is pointless and benchmarks show that its true colors are shown at higher resolutions such as 2560 x 1600. Do you really have a 30 inch monitor? Other than that tri-sli is pointless.
  8. You don't need a socket 1336 core i7 based computer. You'll save money by going with socket 1156 and the performance won't be noticeable unless you do a lot of media/video creation due to the triple channel memory controller. An you DO NOT need 12gb ram... your latency will increase and that's just a flippin overkill. CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...5-214-_-Product GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...1-301-_-Product Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131405 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139006 Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231277 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811133077 HSF: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835103065 Also what are you going to use this computer for? That would help narrow down the things you really need... For example you can get away with a 5850... which is still a fucking fast card. No need for a sound card, that's a waste of money imo... Half of the integrated chipsets do 7.1..optical.. hd.. etc
  9. Hey Steve, Is this a refreshed mac mini? Also I would STRONGLY suggest getting a SSD (Solid State Drive). They are way more rigid, no moving parts, faster. An it will be able to survive all that vibration from 30kw.
  10. Anything that seasonic designs is great... Get a single rail psu, you really only need about 400-500 watts http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139003
  11. Definition of an overkill bro. It totally depends on how many amps that psu has... I don't find rosewill to be a reliable or premier brand. The power supply will most likely do the job. But if you are looking for reliability or uptime invest into an pc and power cooling, seasonic, antec, corsair, etc...
  12. Why are you complaining? Build your own with the proper cooling. It's just a way to cut costs by using a huge plastic duct and minimal fans to cool core components.
  13. Killer. I know ATI always makes nice gear. Hopefully they consistently update drivers!!! Can't wait to get a couple of these bad boys!
  14. I have soo much computer crap to sell... lol Then I can drop that cash into a nice i7 setup :/
  15. What do you run? Like I am not sure if it's worth dropping more money into my x38 and x48 setups...
  16. Yeah I hear ya it just a cycle...phase out and bring the new stuff in to be dominant Well I have Q9450 and Q9550...i might just give him one... But I really like the i5/i7... it's not really mainstream still pretty high end almost as fast as the 950/975
  17. Well my brother has been using an s939 opteron for about like 4 years now and he needs a really bad upgrade I might have him wait till 32nm...since they're killing 45nm fab
  18. I might be building an i7 s1156 or i7 s1366 soon for my brother, he needs a new pc really bad... lol Whats the news on fishchris's setup?
  19. Far as the ram...I was saying it will basically run at JDEC setting to be stable...till you tweak the settings to be stable at that speed...which is basically OC'n
  20. Yes, post pics. I might be building an i5 setup soon to replace a s939 setup.
  21. This videocard should be plenty. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102835 $110.
  22. Hey Fish, Some advice. Don't base your reviews off the reseller's site, sometimes ppl who post on newegg are completely retarded. Also I think you went with the wrong setup. For the price of that processor, I would have gone with a AMD Phenom II X4 955 and some amd or nvidia chipset mobo. The reason I would advise AM3 over socket 775, is because amd is doing stuff with it whereas intel is just phasing it out. But anyways nonetheless, your setup will be faster than an average persons computer. Good choice on the psu, seasonic designs some nice stuff. An for that ram to work at 1066, I hope you know that you have OC to achieve that. Peace, Moti
  23. Be yourself be unique, you don't need to copy others. If you want 4 18s that bad, you will have to do blow throw and put it in the truck bed. Also no one really gives their designs away like that, they put in their time and effort to figure out what was best for them and their vehicle. An it may not work for you or your vehicle.
