that was my thought exactly. I dont have any pictures, i was just wondering what makes it happen. I know if he plays it real hard it will just stick sometimes. I do remember my buddies kicker that over excured and we dropped it on the magnet about 4' off the ground and it started working perfectly. im not familiar with the inside of a woofer to understand what could cause this. thats all.

so my buddy says he bought a sub off a friend, he brings it over and the cone is froze. I can kinda push up/down on it but its pretty stiff. I check the coils, perfect, look at the coil, not burnt. I notice the magnet... or the protector( whatevers on the outside) is cracked. He calls the guy he bought it from and he says he will fix it in 5 min. . . Takes a hammer to the magnet, beats the shit outta it, and its free and works perfect. he said that why he stopped buying fi... i was speachless, i thought it was a mushroomed former. Nonetheless my friend paid 290 bucks for a fully loaded fi bl 15, which knowing it is effed up was a rip off. any thoughts?

what does it matter? My good friend seriously sucks JL's C.E.O. off every night. He thinks his w7 is the best thing ever built on earth, and that he can play it for hours on end. Even after hearing mine he responds "well u can only burp urs, and ur louder cuz u have more subs". which is entirely untrue, i play music at 150 all day long. was it a bitch to remove the cover? My ipod did the same thing and i had my buddy run it over with his car to open it.... i didnt expect him to burn out on it and completely destroy it but i though i actually had a chance at seeing if i could replace the batt. how is the orange contact point connected? did you have to solder?

when i metered on the TL i hit a 149.2 sealed up, 149.7 door open. IIRC i had a stock alt when i metered. ya i had the colorado walled off and was dissapointed. I really wanted a new vehicle so i got rid of it. as far as the half ohm... I ordered 1 ohm coils from DC... somehow they rest at .6 ohms and its rough on my electrical thats for sure.

Im aware i suck ass at metering, i dont do it often and messed it up, but i was having fun with it to get an idea of where im at. btw they are 4" ports and he forgot to mention the optimas, in case anyone was wondering.

well i wanted XL's but instead i was convinced to get the lvl 4's with 5 parts due to them not being in stock, even though i said money/waiting wasn't a problem. Me and another guy i wont name, blew the shit outta ours at the db drag in July. Are they loud, yes... But they get stinky fast and after hearing the xl's im pissed because they are all around a better woofer. the kicker to it all is that i still ended up waiting for my coil to come in and i wasn't even informed untili called in a week later.

looks loud. I heard a T40001bd and 4 T2's in a wall and about crapped my pants. i know he was doing mid-upper 50's. Wish i could get a decent deal on a pair of T2's.

about 7 cubes before displacement tuned at 33hz, bcp designed the box for me so hit him up. Way louder than my other box i had, and im not even pass half on the volume so im hoping to be around the 150 mark. im below the window line too so i guess i have a fighting chance now. old box

thought id share, still waiting for the alt to come in, voltage dips into the tens and 9's so i cant really turn it up more than halfway and feel easy about it. will post up vids of it in action soon.

im actually suprised it didnt shut my amp off. 3/4 volume

ya it seems like when i play upper frequencies it only drops to like low 13's. but as soon as i hit something low the voltage just falls on its face. Thanks for putting some of this into perspective for me. So basically my box is more efficient therefore it draws more current because my imp. rise isnt much.

I have a pioneer 42000dvd orion 5000d @ 1 ohm Subs read .7 ohms each. If i turn everything flat and woofer at 0 bass 0 it doesn't get very loud gains all the way down, so no it doesnt turn off, voltage stays aroune 12.5 Amp seems to turn off around 10 volts or if i have volume cranked and i hit the bass Knob, it wont even play for a split second unless i ease into the volume. Im almost positive its the box, this enclosure just rapes the lows, but my electrical just isnt strong enough. I orered the powerbastards 250 amp, and im going to replace the battery upfront with a yellow top or something.

ya its weird because its still loud as balls, I have the headunit settings all the way up for the woofer tho. im just saying a rule of thumb would a 250 amp alt be sufficient? I havent heard anything bad about powerbastards, just wanting input on the amperage itself. thanks for the help guys.

true, i will replace the front battery since its stock and 4 years old. However, as soon as i see 10.X or my amp goes into protect, it shoots right back into the upper 13's without hesitation. Will this alternator work?
