Imo it's going to be a Sundown 4 channel as long as it's going to be a sax model. The sax amps have a very very tweekable crossover making active setups possible and with the Rockford or AQ you don't have as much freedom to bypass passive xovers and go full active. It is still possible, but you would need a tweeter with a very low fs to be able to be xovered at 500hz in the Rockford. With the Sundown you will have all the way up to 3300hz to xover the tweet and the same with the mid if you want to. This is why it gets my vote.

I agree. The sa's can take a ton of power more than what they are rated to. That doesn't mean that they need a pair of 1500's strapped per woofer but with some common sense I don't see why a pair of sa's couldn't take 2500-3500 watts of power.

Should be a nice change to get the Hoe painted a new color. Before your done with the thing its basically going to be a whole new car. Any chance there will be an engine upgrade in the future? I'm sure that the people that advertise your Tahoe in their literature would love to have some new pics of a freshly painted SMD vehicle to represent their line of stuff. Hope it makes the XS Power catalog agian after the new color.

I would wait then until I had enough money to buy some better quality subs. I know the feeling of wanting to get going so you can have some nice bass, but it's going to pay off more in the long run if you wait it out and get a higher quality sub. Also the fact that you are doing an 8" woofer is another reason that quality is so important. With a smaller driver like that your going to need all you can get from it and using a lesser sub is going to compromise the output by quite a bit over one that is built more specifically for your type of application. I'm assuming that you want to get loud since you are deciding on going with more cone area and is why I'm suggesting more of a spl type solution for you. A cvr is nothing more than an oversized midbass woofer. It uses a small motor and has poor throw. You'd be better off running the Tang Band neo 8's from parts express honestly. Just be patient and wait until you can get something to do it right the first time around or you'll be left wanting more, which you probably will no matter what anyway. But at least you won't be stuck trying to sell stuff that has a poor resale value rather than something that will sell easily and hold it's value well.

That is where Simon is supposed to ride at. One Simon = more power for your amps then all the batteries in every car in the world. Simon is more powerful than the legendary flux capicator that Jake had in his Jeep. It depends on how loose the suspension on each woofer is, if the impedence jumps around when using a dmm to read the coils, how much lead is left on the subs from previous installs, the color of the coil if it is dark or burnt at all, also if the tinsel leads are showing through the spiders (I've seen this before on DD subs and you know they are on the way out if you can start to see tinsels coming through). If everything were to check out and you can hear them demoed first before you buy them I'd probably pay $200-$225 at the absolute most. The woofer is easily reconable with a recone bought from DD or any other company that does recones and you would have yourself a motor with new soft parts basically equaling a new woofer with whatever cosmetic blemishes on the motor/basket. The 2500 series woofers are better than a DC Level 3 to put it in comparrison for those of you that are unaware of the DD line. Also by better than I mean louder, not necessarily better sounding. I've seen some serious numbers out of 2500's and around 3K watts of power for burps. Over 150's in an explorer with a pair of 15's, so I'd give em a go if it were the right price.

Thanks boss for all the great car audio components that you design and produce for us. We're lucky to have such a dedicated person who enjoy's all this stuff as much as us. I think that's part of the reason why your stuff is overbuilt and works so well for daily or spl. It's basshead equiptment made for bassheads by a sound quality guy (I had to say something about it ) Thanks Jake, and I guess thanks to Brandon too even though he does nothing at all except take up space and give you shit all day long. A pair of them strapped at .5 ohms on my Nightshade 15 for spl right now as well as them strapped at 1 ohm on my dual 15 box for daily. Needless to say it wangs hard

You'll be fine if you tune to 36hz. Just because the forum boner is to tune your box to 32hz doesn't mean that's what you need to do too. I have 2 Nightshade 15's in my daily setup in 7.2 cubes with 6 4" precision ports that tune the box to 37hz. Now that I've added a pair of 3500d's over a pair of 2000d's I don't know the actual score that they will do no music, but with the 2000's they would do a 152 on music. They would still touch 150's on music at 30hz too. The thing is that I only have 75sqin of port though and it does help that they are flared ports. I would go with the 7 cubes that you are wanting to and do some flared ports instead of a slot port. In that box you could do anywhere from 5-6 4" ports and it would slam. I can tell you from experience with the box similar to that it will get loud. I have no doubt what so ever that I can do a 151 on music with a single 3500 because I could do it before with a pair of 1500d's and a clamped 3400 watts.

Nice find. Too bad I just bought 20 of the Stinger one's for the same exact fucking price. Why can't I find deals like this when I'm trying to buy something? I think that the Stinger one's might be a little better though.

Hell I still opened my 360 up and looked at the issue but couldn't get it to work even trying the video tricks. I called microsoft and told them and they sent me a lable to send it back to them. They still fixed it for free and I got it back and haven't had an issue since, knock on wood.

Okay I will have a 100ft roll of Tsunami 0/1 that will be here in a few days. It is silver in color and has 4200 strands of oxygen free copper. It's not flex gel wire but is still flexible and easy to work with. It's the same wire that Scottie Johnson was selling on here not too awful long ago that he used. There was a special online and I decided to buy 100ft that I'll probably only use 30-40ft of at most. Pm me if you want a price on some shipped, include your zip.

Where do you live? I build very nice boxes if you want and are close. If you aren't close then you could try Fisher Customs. Also there is a guy here on the forum named Pioneer Saturn that will build and ship to you if you want. His boxes are amazing and work very well. I don't completely hate probox and if it's your only option then I'd say its an okay one. I happen to have quite a bit of experience with Type R 12's and did a 148 with a pair off around 2K watts. If you want a design and can find someone else to build it for you let me know.

Would you trade a pair for a pair of brand new still in the box Clarion single 4 ohm 10's? I would be willing to do straight up since a pair of the 10's I have probably cost a little more than a pair of the 6.5's.

Well with 2 saz2000's and 2 XS Power D3100's, an Iraggi 260 amp alt, and a Deka G34 I don't drop below 13 volts full tilt. If it does drop below that it's for a split second it never sits there, it will always jump right back up to the high 13's and 14's after it drops low. You will require at least an additional battery in the vehicle no more than 18" away from the amp to make sure it stays happy but that's about it. I've ran a pair of them off a stock alt for quite a while and had no trouble at all.

I have a 100ft spool of some flex wire that is 5200 strands that will be here by Friday. It doesn't have a name brand on it which is just fine with me and is the red translucent gel like you see with the Stinger, Rockford, or Knu wire. I can do a solid piece as long as you want and would probably do it for $70+shipping and if you wanted 30ft I would do it for $85+shipping. That comes out to be $2.80 a foot and is cheaper than any wire that you'll find out there that is over 5000 strands and very flexible.
