Holy hell that's a lot of flex. That's pretty impressive, I've got two 18" fully loaded BLs in my 4-door blazer, also running 1500 watts each and amazingly also tuned right around 38Hz. It slams hard but doesn't pick up the lows anywhere NEAR like that. If I can find that song somewhere I'll get video of mine. The subs are quite a bit starved for airspace for the moment though, soon it will be properly walled

Then yep, you grabbed the right sub.

not really sure what i want to do yet

No such thing as underpowering a sub. :01nocomment8so: Also that amp has 4x30amp fuses, meaning it probably makes about 1200-1500 rms. Just so you know what you're really working with. -
What are your goals for the sub?

SUNDOWN 2000 AT .35 DAILY
creyc replied to teamsundown77's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
Dual 0.7 ohms DC resistance? (as in measured with a DMM) If so, that's the same as what many companies call a dual 1. Even though DC resistance is 0.35 ohms, the nominal impedance would probably be rated 0.5 ohms on a moving coil, which would be acceptable to run daily provided plenty of amperage and some attention paid to amp cooling. -
most excursion?
creyc replied to BassAddict32's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
The new XXX is definitely up there with 54mm one way excursion. There are a few very rare or straight up prototype subs with extreme excursion capabilities but as far as mainstream I can't think of anything more than 54mm. JL's W7 has 29mm if I remember correctly, similar to a Fi Q or AA Havoc. -
18g brad nails for the box, 1-5/8" coarse drywall screws for areas that need extra pressure while drying, and t-nuts and bolts for the subs.
-
In the environment it sounds like you're selling to, you'll get a lot more for the kicker subs in a box, ready to go. I know I would much rather ride around for a week without any bump till I can scrape up the change for a sheet of MDF and some glue than to put my brand new shiny speakers in some POS box that makes them sound like garbage.
-
I think it's probably best you sell them with the box. Build a proper box for whatever you decide to get, and it will make all the difference. As for subs, they're both pretty good but for daily I'd go with the BL...

10'' AQ demo reaction

I really need to get my brother to invest in some of those aero ports for his truck. He's got two 10" Qs and they slam, but not quite as much as those. He's getting mad chuffing with the slot port... What size ports are those? -
Acoustic Edge

The thing you'll never get from reading forums is EXPERIENCE. Look around at your local audio installers. For the most part you can get by with very limited actual audio knowledge, its all about experience and what you can/have done. -
No, they are some of the more difficult, picky enclosures to build.

i already got some input but i want more on the box
creyc replied to GoreMasterCustomAudio's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Often the 6th or 4th order decision is already made for you, based on the subs you are running. Think of the 6th order as a ported box, and the 4th order as a sealed box. As I'm sure you know, some subs are better suited to a sealed or a ported box. Find the T/S properties of your subwoofer. Divide the Fs by the Qes and see what you get. Less than 50 go with the 4th order bandpass. Over 100 do the 6th order. Between the two and you can go either way without an issue. -
digi distro block question
creyc replied to Hostility's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Just put the ground wire on a relay. Trigger the relay with your remote wire and then the display will only be on when your radio is on. And it will cost about $2 to do. -
whats a guy supposed to do
creyc replied to windowtinter's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Sorry but I don't see 155 on music with (4) 15s. Hopefully he's not setting himself up to fail... -
I just think it's all kind of silly. I would think most people would just be blown away and impressed more with the bass than they would by 5 LED gauges saying 14.4...14.3....14.4....14.1...14.4..... but that's just me.n maybe people really REALLY like flashing numbers where you're from...around here it's more about the BASS.
-
post it here, thanks!

Bought (2) Fi 18" BLs. Very prompt transaction and equally fast shipping. Items were packed well and in great condition. Would definitely do business with again.
-
I'm confused by "square and lower bass". Maybe you're thinking the square sub will make it sound deeper and lower somehow? I agree with some of the others here, there are much better subs to choose from if you expand your brand selection to more than just JL and Kicker.
-
Bottom it is then?
-
Actually, I'd like to know as well. I'm doing almost the same thing, but in a 4-door blazer. Nice low tuning, should move some air!
-
Lots of speculation going on in here...anyone have the actual differences or T/S parameter differences from '08 to '09? I have a REALLY hard time believing its anything major. and certainly not enough to DAMAGE one of the subs?
