You also need to ground that amp either to chassis or to the negative terminal on the battery in the trunk. You should also fuse the 1/0 wire that goes from hood to trunk. Put a fuse within 18 inches of the battery on each end of the cable. so one fuse under the hood and one under the trunk. That way if that cable gets pinched and you ground that baby out, it won't start your car on fire.

What are the batteries grounded to? Is your Head Unit grounded to the battery bank or chassis?

The length of the port does not change whether it is inside or outside of the enclosure. What changes is the displacement of the port. If the port is inside the enclosure you need to calculate the displacement so you do not include that in the enclosure volume. If the port is outside the enclosure, you do not need to worry about port displacement as it does not take up any space inside the enclosure. Now, in your situation you need to figure out the displacement for the section of port that IS inside your enclosure.
