yeah it is good. I burp 153.4 dB and can bass race in the mid 149s but have trouble reaching the magical 149.9 I am still looking for a better song near 42 hz. I can do 139.9s all day long though.

I wouldnt do it. The sub is designed to run both coils, not just one. besides, running 2 would be much better performance and durability.

owning a TL can help but its not necessary. You can just go to a show and most judges will let you practice before the competition starts. Do that at a few shows and you'd be good.

sounds like you red lighted. Its just like bracket racing in drag racing. You cant go before the timer starts. becasue of a slight delay, the soonest you can start is on the end of SET, but if you play music on Ready, you lose the round.

Nothing stops that. It doesnt matter. The point is control. If your system can do 150s, then its harder to keep it in the 139.9 class because on click of the volume too high or too loud of a start can shoot you over 140 very easily. I have done it myself. A perfect score in that class is 139.9 If your system can only do a 138, then it would be wise to shoot for the 129.9 class.

yeah, pretty much no rules on the build. Class is figured in the qualifying round. You pull up to the lanes, mic is put on the pass side windshield, car is sealed up (you can be inside or outside). The play music when the clock starts. The meter takes a 30 second average so a good start and consistancy is a must. If your average is 138.4 dB then you will be placed in the 130-139.9 class. Then brackets are randomly picked and you move to eliminations. During elims you go head to head. You have to come to get louder than the other guy during the run but the trick is to not go over 139.9 dB. If you hit 140+ at anytime during the run, you lose. You can use an Ipod. or a Zune.

Oh just saw the other posts, they didnt show up before. Matt in maryland is a multi point certified judge. You can contact him to discuss his multi point rates but they do cost more. I am working on getting more sponsors involved for some prizes in the Maryland area. A double point even at the right time can draw more people, but it is not necessary as long as the show is fun and has incentives for competitors.

Why yes you can do that. If you have your own dual sensor Termlab, you can pay $100 to get the event sanctioned and you can judge it yourself. You can also hire a judging staff to run the event for you with their meter setup. You will have to discuss rates with your local judge. Where do you plan on holding it? I may be able to help.

its just metal and plastic. water dries off. If there was any corrosion on the end, just cut the end off.

I am trying to get some of my sponsors like T3, Hifonics, and PowerMaster to donate some prizes for the future. So prizes may be like a pair of components or a small sub or something and for bigger events maybe some amps. We'll see how it ends up though. Gotta start small and work it on up.

First I want to say that you to all the competitors that came out for the toys for tots and thank you to all the competitors that stepped up to try Show Time SPL. This was the first time we ran it ever. It was basically a trial run to see how the format and rules will work. And I believe Chode was the first through the lanes. This is the first format to ever use 2 mic locations simultaneously. It is very interesting to analyze the data. One mic location is in the passenger kick and the other is on the driver door glass with the door wide open. An average of both scores is taken to figure the score. yeah, I got my O-scope for free on my last day of Senior year of my electronics class. It was 15 years old when I got it, but hey, it works for me.

$40.00 whoaa, no way. good ones are $9000.00 or so. cheap ones are like $2000.00 thats also why I keep mentioning the TermLab. It will do everything you need it too and can get one for $600 and a cheap computer for like $300

an O-scope simply allows you to view a signal voltage's waveform. It can tell you voltage. SPL is sound pressure level. You need an SPL meter with a microphone or sensor to read the acoustical energy. If you want to know frequency you need a frequency counter. one tool that does all this through an acoustical pressure sensor is a Term Lab. an O-scope can be hooked up to your RCA jacks on your headunit to view a waveform and tell if its clipping. But that does not help in Bass Race.

can use an old desk top too. There is also an SPL meter that interfaces with a digital multi meter. It is a pressure sensor like the Term Lab and reads close to it but not exact. But it only tells you SPL. the TermLab will tell you peak frequency and at what frequency the song is playing at and you can actually test a bass race run and measure your 30 second average. Theres no beating that. You can get a cheap used laptop off of e-bay or a computer show and only use it for the term lab

best to use a termlab to find good songs. Term lab will tell you SPL and frequency. an O-scope will not do that and would not be useful for you at all. You can cue the song wherever you like.

I've been competing since 1995. There were some cash prizes many years ago, but like $20 here and there. There is no money in it, just love. I have over 50 trophies, about 10 plaques and 30 certificates. Sometimes there are special prizes if a sponsor steps up. Like this saturday in MD. Team BK is giving a DD 1508 sub to the winner of the crazy 8 class. I am thinking about putting up a prize to anyone that can beat me in bass race. But if you are looking to win money, try something else. Prizes are all up to the guy running the show and how many people show up.

all doors, hatches, trunks, hoods, sunroofs, anything. must be shut. just have the headunit on extension wires and pull it out of the trunk during competition.

In bass race you can have car on and use an ipod. in SS you must use a CD, car can be on. You can have your CD player external though. Most people use an external console and mount their head unit in it. Its the best and easiest way to control your system for a burp.
