  1. i have a Alpine 9887 and a scope, the RCA outs dont clip at full volume. the internal amp clips at volume 21 out of 35
  2. did you set your gain like this, if so, what was your target voltage? test tones are at the very bottom... https://jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374120-Amplifier-Level-Setting-Guide
  3. i set my main crossover points super high, play some hard hitting songs (Bass Mekanik) up real loud and then start lowering the xover point until its too low, then raise it a tad so it doesnt sound like ass and use that same xover point for my sub my car setup is 80hz. my house setup is 100hz
  4. did you do the big 3 upgrade? and heres the gain setting info. the test tones are at the very bottom https://jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374120-Amplifier-Level-Setting-Guide
  5. i have an Accord sedan, i just took the rear deck speakers out and fire the sub toward the front bumper, hits great. i used to fire the sub toward the rear bumper, sounds the same to me but now i dont have to worry about something in my trunk messing up my sub

  7. a flat frequency response = better sq. ported boxes peak, thats why theyre louder than sealed boxes. if the peak is BIG, it will get real loud but wont sound very good id add a 2nd sub and run them sealed if you want to keep the sq you have but want it louder
  8. clipping will only ruin a speaker if its too much power for the speaker an amp that puts out 100 watts, at full clipping, is LIKE putting out 2x the power (200 watts) but if its hooked up to a 500 watt sub, it wont hurt the sub and if you understand that, youll understand how a 75 watt amp CAN cook a 100 watt speaker
  9. i bought this scope... http://www.elexp.com/tst_hhs5.htm works great and super easy to use

  15. --> QUOTE(Eric B @ Nov 10 2007, 11:27 PM) 191562[/snapback] Probably around 15-25lbs but I have a question why does the weight matter? lookin to use a different sub than my 12" HC, suckers heavy SSD seems to fit my system goals pretty good, which are, peform a lot like the HC (i know it wont be as loud) and doesnt need 1k of power or more gonna use the HC for HT
  16. why dont you use just one amp, wire up the 2 type Rs to get 1 ohm and set your gain right sell the 2nd amp or whatever
