  1. i meant when i dont. when i do use it and i leave a little room for clipping, the second i turn it up, you can hear it distort When you say you can hear it distort, are you talking about your sub or your mids/highs?
  2. NO. You should only ever fuse the wire according to the amount of current that it will see. I.E. fusing a wire for 300 amps when it will only see 120 amps of current is just stupid and possibly dangerous. Also 1/0 AWG is not good up to 300 amps like everyone thinks. Everything else in your post is right on though. OP: Yes. Alternator positive to battery positive, fused for the amount of current it will see. Engine ground to battery negative. Battery negative to good body/chassis ground. If the stock battery grounding point is any good, you can use that. If not many people use their strut tower bolts. I prefer to drill a hole in a nice solid piece of metal and secure the terminal with a nut, bolt, and washers. Make sure to sand all connections to bare metal. With the battery you have, getting new battery terminals isn't necessary since yours has those accessory threaded posts on it. I'd simply make use of them, but allow a few inches of excess wire on the runs to allow leeway for replacing the battery. Here is a great place to get terminals on the cheap: http://impulse-elect...let%20Terminals if you plan on soldering them, you can simply drill a hole in the top of the terminals to allow you to solder them like an open ended terminal. Shit, I went with a 300 fuse, bad idea? I have 100 and a 120 laying around, should I use that instead? I haven't installed anything yet just trying to make sure I have it all right. I did buy new batt terminals but I dont think I like them so I probably wont use them. I actually bought those copper terminals that look identical to that on amazon so those should be good. The stock grounding point for the battery is shit, atleast it looks it too me, you can see it in on of the picture I posted. And now Im confused again...haha your post conflicts with the one above, Your's says engine ground to negative battery, so I cant just use the same strut tower for both my engine ground and my battery negative ground? Sorry, It seems so simple I just dont know why the fuck im confused so bad.
  3. Bump.... Alt positive to battery positive Battery negative to strut tower engine block to strut tower or battery negative?
  4. DO NOT use bass boost on the hu, unless your talking about your sub level which I don't think you are..
  5. one last question, sorry Im annoying everyone but Does my engine block ground go to my strut tower (which is where my new battery ground will be) or does it go directly to the negative battery terminal?
  6. I deff wouldn't want to keep my finger on it at all, it got decently hot. I doubt it would come anywhere near making water boil though. Should I keep lookin?
  7. So I degreased my engine (dear god does that shit smell) anyway, I'm able to see my strut tower bolts now so ill ground to one of those but about the engine block ground, the only bolts I can get too get pretty hot, too hot to touch. Is that okay to use one of those for the engine block ground to the strut tower or should I keep looking for another one? Thanks for all the help guys
  8. Yeah deff gonna take a good look at it. I found my strut tower but its absolutely COVERED in grease so I'm going to need to wash the hell out of it before i do anything.
  9. Just to confirm, this should help my voltage out right? At full tilt I drop to like 12.5/6 but resting is a little over 14. The big 3 should help me out with that a little right? Its a stock alt and a beefed up battery, its only like 1k so I figured I don't need anything special for an alt.
  10. Those look pretty good, would eliminate the need for a couple ring terminals. I've been trying to find these other ones that I liked, but I can't seem to find them. I'll let you know if I do. As for a torch, I've had this one about 6 months now, and it's served me well. You could probably find a cheaper one though if you want, like: http://www.amazon.co...7836097&sr=1-21 http://www.harborfre...orch-42099.html Okay cool, Ill take a look at that, looks good!
  11. I think Im going with these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YL40O4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3JV2WX8IXDD3A Now I just need to figure out my crimping/soldering situation for my ring terminals.
  12. Also, does anyone know of any good terminals? theres so many to choose from How about these? http://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine-Battery-Terminal-Black/dp/B004LR5K30/ref=pd_sim_auto_1 They add a second post
  13. ok, I think I'm going to go for the soldering terminals, just need to get my hands on a butane blow torch haha, good thing I asked here because I was just going to use regular terminals, crimp them then solder over them. Thanks again. Here are the pictures of my engine bay.
  14. Can't comment on battery terminals. Do you have a wire cimper (a real one, not a bench vice or one of the hammer-spikes)? Yes I have a wire crimper, and I'm going to solder the shit out of them. No reason to solder. Crimping is a better connection anyways In that case: I suggest these. They are thicker/more solid than any solder terminal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-0-AWG-Tinned-Lug-Cable-Crimp-Connector-End-5-16-in-/270894937343?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear#ht_732wt_905 Ok cool, ill take a look at those. I'm not sure my crimp is that strong, its literally just a wirecutter with a slot to crimp wires, not sure if that's what you meant. And thanks for all your help. Ill be home in about 15 minutes and ill get you those pictures. Thanks everyone for the help as well!!
  15. Can't comment on battery terminals. Do you have a wire cimper (a real one, not a bench vice or one of the hammer-spikes)? Yes I have a wire crimper, and I'm going to solder the shit out of them.
  16. Ok give me a few and ill post a bunch of pictures for you guys. Also, can you guys reccomend any good battery terminals I should buy? And some good quality crimp/soldering terminals? I'm grabbing knu wire so I know that's good.
  17. Ok thanks for your help guys. The only thing I'm worried about is the ground, not a clue where I'm putting that.
  18. There really isn't a ton of space between the alt and bat so do you think both fuses would be needed? Also, what size fuse? And I see people buying new battery terminals, that's neccesary right? And one more (I'm annoying, I know, my bad.) Do I leave my stock wires there? Or take them off totally, I post a pic soon because my stock power wire branches off in two different directions.
  19. So I think this might be a little noobish but I still havent done the big 3, I know I know, It should have been done a long time ago. Anyway, Im going to do it next week but I am extremely nervous about it for some reason. Does anyone have any pointers for me? and Exactly what I need to do it. I know 1/0 gauge ofc wire but what else? Has anyone thats done it on a 2002 ford explorer know the best place for the ground? ahhh, help! thanks guys.
  20. Willing to split it up? If so, How much do you want for the 80' shipped to 06606
  21. About to buy 6 haha. My mother was diagnosed back in November and is now cancer free because the treatment worked perfectly. Thanks for the link.
  22. Why are you refunding him? It sounds a hell of a lot like his fault. So he boughtem, blew them and now wants to return them? You must be a better man than me haha, hope it all works out in the end.
  23. You might wanna send him a PM, doesnt look like anyone on here has these. In this price range, all the tweets are going to sound the same off HU power, which wont be bad but it wont be to its full potential, take it from me. I'm currently running off HU power until I get a decent 4ch and it sounds good to me but I know it can be better.
  24. Well I learned my lesson, and I have just given a ton of shit or fuck even bought stuff for people. I have even ordered stuff for people on SMD who were struggling with their builds just so they could enjoy the sport as much as I do. Well thats all fucked up now, only takes 1 asshole to ruin the party for everyone. yeah I hear ya, well I hope the best for you. I love the vents, kinda reminds me of the stock newer explorer/expedition vents. I'm definitely tuned in
