    1st off the gain isnt a volume knob. it could be all the way down and the amp is working at max power. its getting hot because its clipping. read up on how to set the gains on the amp with a DMM and never touch that bass boost again. leave it at 0!

    i know of a guy that did some drop in testing. started with BTLs, was given SMDs and his score went down, got XLs and his score was better than the BTLs.

    ill have two crescendo 3ks at .5ohm soon. ill run them off a 270amp alt, two 2400s, one G31, and one 1800. i am hoping it will keep me above 12.5v. so 1 battery each amp... i would say it could be a problem but if you got a big ass battery for each... sure. edit- or if you run each amp at 1ohm, one 2400 per amp should be just fine.

    scott started RE with another guy. company got sold to US amps. scott decided to leave and start Fi then they made AA to sell to retail stores. AA and Fi subs used to be the same but are very different now. the old Fi Q was the same as the RE SX. now with DC... you are not 100% wrong like the others think. but i cant say any more about it.

    ah yes, when i made this thread i was hoping ray would chime in here. ya i had a set of morels and they only lasted about 1 week in my car. shit midbass. the ones i picked suck on midbass? what CDT's would you recommend? i had one set i was not so happy with but they were a little cheap. again, i would love to put ID in my car, just not sure they will fit.

    im way past getting $8 0 speakers. image dynamics is by far my 1st choice but they are 3" deep. my pods are already made so im not going with 8"s. the 2 i picked out are in the $200 range. anything under $300 is fair game.

    dont bridge a HU. when people talk about clipping they are usually talking about the RCA's. so no, the amp will still clip around volume 25. its not a big deal. you just tune with the volume at 25 or 24. go ahead and move the old set to the back. might as well use them.

    they will be fine either way. as long as you are not clipping, 100w wont hurt them.

    lol we all get put in out place some times. dont worry about it. your learning and there is nothing wrong with that. clipping will hurt the sub. if the sub blows is can take out the amp with it.

    for the average person these subs will be very powerful. it wont be something crazy but they may think its really a 12". it will all come down to you and how good of a box you make.

    i want to see how the speaker wires are hooked up. they have to be on rings with a piece of metal touching each one. if you just ran wire it would get all twisted up.

    3k - XL will handle it just fine 4k - i would start to look at the level 5. i hear an xl can still be fine though.
