  1. he didnt tell him to put the meter on the remote wire. he asked if it was because it could be a problem. and a 12awg wire is pretty damn big for a remote wire. i mean the power wire to the HU in only about 20-18awg. veng - you know what, i just remembered i have a relay hooked up so thats why i see 14v lol.
  2. i dont know if other units are different but my hu's remote lead has always read the same as my power wires.
  3. ya, never used them my ass. lol
  4. you idle at 12.6v? as in the car is running? thats really not good. you should see at least 13.8v. if the alt is only charging to 12.6v then i would not run a system off it. you need to get a new alt or get that one rebuilt.
  5. that car definitely fits hanna. good find man
  6. go look up torres box calculator on this forum. super easy to use and you can figure out anything you need with it
  7. ya, all those subs should take 1200. the SX is the same as the old Fi Q. cant go wrong with any of those subs. however, since the RE brand was sold to maxxonics the quality has gone down. thats why i wouldnt buy the new style. still, it may be reason to go with the Q or level 4 over the SX.
  8. ya, the sx is a great sub. i dont know if anything has changed with it now but if i were to get one again i would get the old design. they are easily found on ebay and woofersetc.com
  9. haha you have been talking such a big game on here and you cant design a box?
  10. ok, i actually looked up prices for this amp. 4 years ago it sold used for ~$250. there is one on ebay for $75 ATM with 2 days left for bidding. i would watch that and see what it goes for. if you get an AP3000 for this amp it looks like you will be ripping them off.
  11. thats not resonance. that is just air expanding and contracting. look at some build logs here where people have made walls to get some ideas of what is involved.
  12. oh, that blows. i did that for a little bit. i loved working parking lots because i could sit in my car watching movies. i even ran all my speaker wires to the doors on the job one night.
  13. i dont see much reason why not. i mean it doesnt seem like the BEST spl idea but itll work. try it and see.
  14. i do work at work. usually passes the time pretty well.
  15. those arnt octoports. they are just PSP ports.
  16. just because it has a 100amp fuse doesnt mean it does 1300 watts. you need to know how efficient the amp is. also when the amperage reaches the fuse rating, the fuse pops so you dont want to get to 100amps. at least not for a long time. go with the real amp ratings. dont think you know better than the manufacturer.
  17. if she is outside when i get home she starts rolling around on the ground like she is getting off from it, so you might be half right.
  18. does this mean my cat thinks my car is a giant purring cat every time i come home?
  19. there are some people that do a lot of kerfed boxes. find them and just ask.
  20. ive seen a guy with 4000 or 5000 posts ask how to hook up a second battery. no idea how that shit happens.
  21. well if the clamp meter was on the speaker wires as well (this would not be "draw" so im a little confused) then you were seeing 7027w if you clamped the power wire then you did it wrong. the power wires are DC current.
  22. the smaller the box the less the speaker moves. the less it moves the less it cools but it still gets the same power. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143 that would be an alpine hu. it doesnt add anything to the sub out, it only takes away. go ahead and leave it at 0. some of them go 0-15 but 15 is like 0 and "0" is like -15
  23. ill have to do this when i get home. i took a real hearing test and i could hear down to 0db at 2000hz. no idea how you hear 0db its funny to tell the doctor you sit in 150db+ cars all the time. they look at you like your stupid and crazy lol
