Never hurts to ask. If you come up to the checkout with half an interior I'm sure they would "forget" to charge you for some parts, especially if you're a regular.

That fabric paint sucks. I got a can to try doing exactly what you are talking about, tested it on a junk door panel, and the fabric on it got rock hard, almost like it had something spilled on it that dried. And it looked like ass. You could troll some junkyards and look for darker seats, door panels, etc. The plastic and/or vinyl parts you could just paint with a plastics paint or if you used an adhesion promoter before spraying it. This is the mode I'm in right now, gonna start amassing leather for my car, bye bye nasty cloth!

Oh if the area around the taillight is bent up that's a pain. Of course if you have a garage to mess around in and wanna learn something new you could try doing it yourself. It takes some practice but it's not all that hard.

Taillights are easy to DIY. You can find writeups for almost every car made online. Hood isn't too hard either if you find a matching one at the JY or whatever. Fenders depend on the car, I know mine are a PITA, but some are stupid easy. But those estimates you were given sound about right considering the amount of damage you're talking.

It is what it is. But if I have the aforementioned issue (something on my mind) the only way I can get to sleep is if I figure it out first. If I have an idea for the car I research it and/or go take some measurements. Once I get it figured out I can usually sleep. Unfortunately I tend to end up checking other stuff out too and next thing you know I'm up until sunrise lol

If I have anything on my mind, AT ALL, I cannot sleep. Speaking of sleep issues, I went to bed at 2145 local time, and got up at 0110. it's now 0211 here.

You get a little more airspace and it lowers ported tuning by a (usually) immeasurable amount. In my case though it meant that my terminals were right by the amp so I had a shorter run of wire, and didn't have to either drill holes in the box to run wire or run a stupidly long wire through the port and out. More of a convenience factor than anything.

Betcha dollar to a doughnut something's rubbing against the soft parts of the sub. Try pulling the sub out and giving it a LITTLE power free-air and see if it still does it. If not, it's rubbing against something in the box. One time I had a similar noise and traced it to poor alignment of the sub in the cutout. part of the soft parts was rubbing against the inside of the cutout. Granted I was running inverted at the time, but it's worth a try, right?

IIRC I tried just plugging the ballast into the 880 plug on my fogs and it fits but it can't clip together or anything. I was able to make it work though and they didn't come apart until I pulled them apart. Give it a try. Then you would just have to either modify your fog housings to fit your current bulbs or get some 880 6000k bulbs. what'd you do to make the bulbs stay in the ballast? You mean the plugs? I didn't do anything, the rubber on the outside of the plug made for a tight seal and it just kinda held itself together. If you really wantet to you could probably tape them together or something of the like.

18's I think. I know 17's fit with no issues. If you want it ti look like a Hot wheels car you could probably do 20's with a little cutting.

Do you have fabrication skills? If so I think it wouldn't be that hard to make your own. I'm sure you could find writeups online.

I swapped motors on my 'Prix at 16. That was the only way I could afford to drive. You freak out the more you get into it but it's not so much hard as it is tedious. And you're getting ripped the fuck off if you pay 2k for a used motor. Try like 200-300 at a you-pull-it type place (which will also give you practice on where all the bolts harnesses and hoses are.)

What if he buys a new car and it happens again? Would you rather have a car paid for that you know what's wrong with it, or be making payments on a car that when (not if) something goes wrong you're in the dark?

Whoa whoa whoa. He doesn't have money to fix this engine so he should buy a new car!? Think about it. OP, if you are even semi-mechanically inclined, you could swap the motor yourself for so much less. Talking like less than $300 less. What kind of car is it? If it's a Honda or Toyota you could almost do it in a day. Get some friends and buy them pizza, rent a cherry picker, and go to town on that shit.

...Or just get a hold of a Tech II and set all the transmission parameters to '0'...they'll still be there but won't trip a MIL.
