  1. I've been holding out but the beast I'm driving now is dying and I ripped the system out to have it ready to trade in. The only auction in my area is for dealers only so I'm fucked as far as that goes cuz if I don't have a license I'm fucked. And what's worse is cars at auction they come "as is" so you're not allowed to start it. It could have check engine or blown transmission and you never know.... I'm just sort of depressed cus every time I'm about to grab one they wholesale it or sell it off before I can get down there. Thanks for the advice on the painting, I figured it was a bad idea.
  2. Does anyone have any good advice to give in regards to dealing with car salesmen? And just general advice when buying? I've been looking for a 2007-2010 Suburban for THREE months now. I've scoured the market and find great deals occasionally but every time I go to act on it and purchase the vehicle the mother fuckers gone. Then a day later the exact same truck will pop up at another dealership for thousands of dollars more and they refuse to budge on the price... It's irritating at best. So my question to you car buying veterans is: am I limiting my options too much by going for a black on black? Should I open up the option of other colors and just get it painted? And is this financially a good idea?(no clue how much a good paint job costs, and only bought one vehicle in my life). Well thanks for any recommendations you guys make!
  3. Good shit man. Definitely fun to shut the haters down!
  4. It could also be the weather. Sound carries differently at different temperatures and humidity. My truck hits hardest around 50 degrees and low humidity.
  5. Are you talking voltage to the power input of the amp or the output from the speaker terminals? If it is the first, as said by Chris the MAX input you want to feed them is 15V. Sorry you mentioning the LEDs is throwing me off a little bit.
  6. Hmmmm my OCD is getting the better of me with mix/matching, otherwise I'd be all over this!
  7. exactly lmao, dude didnt even say a word after the demo sooo idk... he told me before i gave him the demo that he was doing a build in a surburban behind the third row seat,1 kicker warhorse, 4 orion hcca 15's... but behind 3rd row seat?!?! 4 15's behind 3rd row??? I dont think that it would fit. Or be one tight fit. To me that guy had to expression during the demo. And when he looked at the subs. It was kinda like he was like thats it or something. Nice build ya have. Could totally fit 4 15's behind third row in a burban. With room to spare! Nice build though man! Those Monsters will be the death or me. I drink like 4 a day.
  8. so its like the pic that kranny posted? alright, there will infact be 3 diffrent plugs pluged into the brain right now, atenna/valet/led, the valet is gray and black, the led is red and blue, the red and blue is what you want to unplug from the brain, so you need to find where they mounted the brain, and like i said the led and valet plugs are on the right side of the brain if your looking at it with the viper logo staring at your face (upright and such) if im wrong its on the other side, if you cant see the wire colors themselfs if i remember correctly the plug itself is BLUE on the led, so just unhook that You sure broseph? My 5901(has a different looking antenna than the one in the pic) is a single plug connection. Red, Blue, Black going to the antenna.
  9. You won't be able to just "cut" a wire to disable that. It's a three wire harness and all are utilized by the antenna. All the ideas mentioned are pretty much your only solution. Open it on up and just clip the solder point for the LED is your best bet aside from sharpie/tape or the pick idea.
  10. Sounds good but damn those little 8"s can't get the lows. What's the box specs and what do you have those powered by/crossovered at?
  11. Scion and some other manufacturers have RCA outs on the stock H/U now. IMO those things aren't really a big deal, soon HDMI connections will be the future.
  12. If you plan on working at Best Buy and have basic knowledge just look for a bay hiring. They will pay for your MECP Certifications and order you the books. Essentially you start off with basic knowledge and then get Best Buy certified which has bare bones fundamental requirements.
  13. If this is your passion do it to it man. The basic cert is really good at learning the entry level concepts of Ohms law, Kirchoffs etc. if you take the test I recommend learning your fuse types top to bottom because it WILL ask you every type. Also ask for the dry erase board they should give you... The person supervising my tests never gave me one so who knows it I screwed up some math. GL!
  14. So I'm looking into getting a new truck(currently have an 01 Expedition). I am really loving everything about the new style Suburbans and can find 07-08's relatively cheap and want to know what everyone's thoughts are on it. 1) I know it is a gas guzzler but it will definitely get better mileage than I do now(10.2MPG). 2) I have also heard things about it burning through oil, has anyone had this or heard of it? Also please post if you think there are other similar options with seating for 5 and enough room for a good system. Thanks!
  15. Do the big 3 my friend. How old is the battery you're currently using?
  16. Of course under perfect conditions I 100% agree with that, but as I said I am just hesitant in his setup to loose the midbass from the extra cone area. If you could get a good seal on a pair of 6.5" then it'd probably not make a difference. But in that truck the door window actuator is so close to the inner panel and you don't have much room between the inner panel and actual door panel to fab a good conversion plate. To solve all problems, build pods with 6.5"! Lol
