Using audacity to tweak Freq...
dwz replied to pRoFsWiRlY's topic in Tunez - All things music related
Right, that way the rest of the sounds in the song are "right" for the bass your boosting -
Thanks for the link trevor, even tho you confused what Decaf does Downloadin some Evil Pimp now lol

how can oversized speaker wires cause this?? EDIT: Got this cleared up. Oversized speaker wires CANNOT cause this, all it does it lower the resistance which maximizes your power. Just make sure to use the right OHM load. Thanks Decaf lol

a little SMD love from Car Audio and Electronics
dwz replied to meade916's topic in SMD NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS
Nice link, thanks Steve -
When I first bought my car, I had an old Kenwood headunit (well, like 3 years old)... I installed my system, everythings goin good for a couple months. Next thing you know my car starts dying. I drove around w/o my faceplate on to *charge the battery*, and realized in an hour or so that when the radio was off, the amps still stayed on. I replaced my headunit, and problem solved. It happens I guess lol.

2 12" Type-Rs in Chrysler 300m
dwz replied to dwz's topic in Member Videos - Host 'em & Post 'em! System Vids / Off Topic
yeah bro they're great cause you can save a little space since aeroports need less physical port size... all the measurements I'm giving are w/o displacement. I have 3.3 cubes right now. 1.75 is about what the alpine specs recommend, but I've seen posts on here (do a search) that say the type-r's do well in 2.2cubes each /w twice the port size... personally man I think mine sound perfect in the alpine spec. they're very boomy and they hit ALL the notes. I would imagine a larger box would make it sound pretty flat. -
Teacher went off on Kid
dwz replied to sodfamily's topic in Member Videos - Host 'em & Post 'em! System Vids / Off Topic
Now apparently this kid beat up a handicapped girl... So I think he deserved more than what he got, but the teacher's a little dumb to do it 1) on camera and 2) on school property. Although she avenged the girl, the only thing this lady is teaching kids is how to flip burgers now. -
$100 12's

Type-R's for sure... Be sure to get ones that'll work for your OHM load (1222d or 1242d) -
Check it out!! Using Polyfil to experiment, effectively making the box 4.4~ cubes @ 33hz (hits the lows a lot better, sounds louder and smoother, but doesn't shake my car nearly as much) UPDATE: I took out the polyfil, and the sound is not as smooth or low, but they definitely POUND harder and hit your chest rather than your ass. They hit all the notes better, but sometimes I do hear port noise. But I can see why one would like Polyfil better. I guess it's personal preference. I put the polyfil in my spare tire well instead
-
Thanks Steve, I'ma play this tonight... Im experimentin /w Polyfil too (1lb per cubic ft), which brings my alpine spec box to a recommended 4.3 cubic feet and down to a 32~hz compared to 36hz. It's already hittin lower and deeper and flatter, it's kind of a very different sound.. but anyways I'm sure this'll bang HELL YEAH

thx for that wonderbread

Don't forget, Ultimate Electronics is purely on commission. Think Best Buy, just saying whatever the fuck they want. There's plenty out of people that tell you things and leave things out for an easy 30-50 bucks. Regardless, sand that shit and put it on the bottom of the trunk instead. You know, cause of gravity. Anyways GL homie I think my electrical is pretty bad too, this thread actually moved me to buy a new battery and do my big 3
-
It cost be 30 bucks for MDF + Wood Glue to make an enclosure. Make your own homie it's worth the experience.

hahahahah thats soo sick -
I thought my subs were clipping. Till I put Dynamat Xtreme on the sheet metal behind my tail lights. Suddenly I no longer hear that rattle.
-
Dont forget, whatever medium you're using to play the music may be distorting it (for example: your ipod). Or maybe your music is distorted too! Maybe it's because you need Dynamat. Maybe it's a moonroof slapping the sheet metal. Maybe it's a taillight shaking loose. There's a lot of things that add to "perceived" distortion.

New Sub- Breaking in?
dwz replied to J Dubb's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Umm subs do break in I POUND my subs from time to time (obviously with a distorted signal since I normally play my subs @ the max RMS anyways) Now, its easy to blow subs or your amps but if you have a clean song and no gay ass bass boost then they should be able to handle a minute at a time of extreme poundage I HAVE noticed a positive difference in the sound level of 100% to RMS after pounding them... They basically sounded cleaner -
Tell ya what change it to 60 and tell for yourself. There was a big difference with my subs
