  1. You are correct, TONS of testing on XLs! I have pushed these subs to their limits on every end. But remember install plays the biggest role in whether the sub will take 1500 rms or 3500 rms. Most import thing to remember right there. I still see the TL as the best method to setting gains and knowing the limit of your system. It makes perfect sense that on music if you keep adding power and are not getting any louder, it is simply wasted to heat and potentially hazardous to the sub. So if at 2500 rms you are no louder then at 3000 rms why feed the sub 3000? With that each system will be different so thats the biggest variable still on power handling. As far as mechanical handling it to is greatly effected by the install as is everything. Extra spiders and spider configurations will work better in different enclosures. The bottom line and the KEY is to do your own testing and find what works, and the limits of you system as a whole. Once you know the limits, PLAY WITH IN THEM!!! Simple. But if you want to have fun do what i do.
  2. I did 15.625" for a flush install.
  3. Sweet sub, but no love for The A Team?
  4. If you make the move then i get to boss you around too!!!
  5. I know some loud DC vehicles that like that note! Should peak 29 Hz doors open.
  6. Nice work Nick. Should i comment on Stetsom amps playing music? lol
  7. Sure am lol Had a problem with keeping a dustcap on it so I put on a standard dc cap with a dome cap over it and no more problems. This is the first time ever I havent broke a sub in months lol Excellent! Proving the DC neo is Thor-proof!!!
  8. Nice work man! Are you still using my sub?
  9. I would try to stay atleast 20" away from the roof. But that shouldnt be a problem in your build. I dont think 2.5 is to small no. On a single sub it is a bit small, but on 9 subs it will probably help greatly on mechanical power handling. Remember every time you add a sub you drop frequency, if you are worried about playing low. I know a guy who has 8 XL 15s in 1.7 each and he does pretty good.
  10. and for shits and giggles...the official definition of BOOB cones Nice cones! Haha get some DC logos on there asap! So These new caps are an improvement on the old ones that i use? More support i mean....
  11. Cool car man. Nick will not regret the neo purchase.
  12. Looks good, but i would do 6x on the baffle. That is alot of weight and alot of force on it once all 9 subs get moving. 2x baffle is going to rip right off that thing! As for the volume unlike alot of people 2.5 will work out real nicely... Trust me.
  13. Nice vids!!! Good #s on music for a pair of 18s non walled.
  14. Man it was sad to read this. Here is the quick version to keep it simple. Yes we all know neo is affected by heat. We also know higher grade neo is affected more so and at lower temps then lower grade neo. The DC sub has LOTS of neo, this means lower grade, means ability to with stand higher temps, longer play, more power. The sub was designed for Jimbo, and any other high power bassrace, pychlone, demo type builds. Now in the end how well it holds up to mad abuse is unknown. I will tell you we will find out in my truck. Also i know in testing on 3000 watts for approx 15 minutes the coil was not even past warm to the touch. The sub will be rated 2500 rms more then likely so shouldnt be much of a problem. Chode go for the Neos you will like them alot! :good:
  15. Nice pics indeed. And still my favorite Dc sub of all time!!!
  16. How about the new DC attire? We are experimenting with these here in Canada.
  17. Good work man. Nice to see head to head results, keep up the big scores.
  18. Yes i am aware of her age, this was a joke.
  19. You never mentioned the intentions of the build? Daily musical setup or burp? If its daily there is not reason to do lv5 vs the XL, they will both handle the exact same power daily. Only advantage is the XL will be more efficient. But i would say get some lv3s oh ya
  20. I dont really know what my RTA has been all i do know is since finals every show it is lower... and i dont know why. Hey im not SQ guy. I can burp in the 162 zone down to 33 Hz sealed up, but my note is 46. Doors open 29 is my note, just havent found a good song for it yet. If i can figure out my RTA and get a good song 400 points will be easy, but until then it is a challenge. To be honest this year i do not have the same drive as last. Only been to 3 shows all year, it is sad but financially i am limited after purchasing a new home last fall. It has killed my weekend money having a mortgage. We all have to grow up sometime.
  21. Hey hows it going, 18 yet? haha Sorry i had to.
