Yet another box built... Each one getting better
Hotdog replied to Hotdog's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
oh I will tell you but you are really going to think (WTF) .. All four subs are dual 4 ohm... the P2's are rated at 250 rms / 500 peak and the Punch Power 15's are rated at 1000 RMS / 2000 peak so I wired the 15's to one ohm and the 12's to 4 ohm then wired the 4 ohm subs to the 1 ohm subs with technically should give me a .8 ohm load but when tested with the Multimeter it came out to 1.1ohm. I have not tested the actual power to each sub but I was thinking in theory ( I could be wrong though ) that the 15's will be getting a lot more power then the 12's since they are wired at 1ohm and the 12's are wired at 4 ohm. on the 15's each sub is wired to 2 ohm then wired to each other to 1 ohm. The 12's each sub is wired to 8 ohm then wired together down to 4ohm. Then the 4 ohm and 1 ohm are wired together to get a hypothetical .8 ohm but it is actually seeing 1.1 ohm. how would one figure out how much wattage each sub is getting in theory with this wire configuration -

I will get a video of it soon that actually sounds like a good idea to see if they are 100% in phase but to look at them at full volume they look like they are all moving together it.. also the ports are all 4" but the ports for the 12's are longer then the ports for the 15's but each chamber works out to 33hz after sub and port displacement. -

I actually have another amp but I am not going to hook it up until I get my new Alternator I would lover to hook it up but then I would be pushing like 2000 RMS out of a stock 135amp Alt.. do have a Kinetic HC600 but that still would not be enough I dont think. I am able to hold above 13v at full tilt now -

I dont know I was at menards to buy 4" PVC for the ports and I was looking at the accessories why I was at it and found them and though that it would work great if I ever wanted to change the tuning of the box on the fly so I got them and it makes a better mount for the ports to the box too. -

They are in different Chambers both tuned to 33hz... Different sizes but same brand. The P2 Rockford subs I had first then I got a Great deal on the RFR2215 Punch Pro 15" subs so I figured more cone area is louder (Which it definitely is). It actually sounds really good.. I am going to do a sound quality check at the next competition because I felt that my system sounded a lot cleaner then a lot of the vehicles there. Believe me if it sounded like crap I would be the first to pull them out and just stick with 2 15's but it sounds good. I guess if your are someone that has never tried it then you would be confused as to why I did it but to hear it is another story. Also as I stated I built a cover to go over the top of the whole box so the subs are not visible at all. the Chambers are with in .005 of perfect volume by manufacture specs after sub and port displacement and took 3 hours to get it figured out.. more math then I have done in a long time. But it paid off this is the best box yet.. I went from 2 10's and 2 12's doing 140.7 on TL at the headrest to this current box and I would think I am close to 144 / 145 right now it hits a lot harder now, will find out at the end of this month. -

I am going to find some gray paint and paint the flange to match the box. -

Got them at Menards they are only like $2.79 a peice... I wanted the option of changing the tuning on the fly. I can cut different port lengths for a different tune and all I have to do is remove the screws from the flange and pull it out with the tube and pull one tube off and put the other one on in a matter of a few minutes. Sounds really good.. I think we brain stormed the box for like 3 hours trying to get the perfect dimensions or should I say perfect volume for each sub after Sub and port displacement. It is definitely a lot louder. -
So Yesterday me and a friend build another box to hold the 12's and 15's.. it is a dual chamber box with the ports for both chambers firing out the rear at 33hz. never the less here are a few pics of the process. Before Progress Pics Putting The Subs back in Now that is is all finished it sounds really good.. lots of flex for just 1 t10001bd amp pushing these. I will add another T10001bd later. The ports on the back are made with 4" PVC there is two 4" Ports per chamber and they are screwed to the box with a 4" Flange that way I can remove the flange and remove the PVC from the flange and put a different port on for a different tune... maybe one for driving and one for getting my SPL . There is another Meca comp this month so I am going to get it re-metered with the new box. I also made a cover for the box that conceals the subs so they are not visible but they can breath. I dont have a picture of that yet, I made it today

Man putting your head in the picture really gives you a good perspective on how big that 18" DC is... damn.

Definitely Rockford Fosgate

You never know.. maybe it will be the parents that are going to put the wall in That was pretty cool of Steve to do that... I bet that kid was freaking out the whole time he was driving. Its not that fact that it is a 2001 Tahoe but the actual value of the vehicle and everything in it. It is something I know that guy will never forget.

Depressing Day
Hotdog replied to LT.Smoke's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
If technically your still married and you have a child together... her family should be a non issue. I had issues with my parents wanting to get involved with my marriage and I actually did not talk to them for 1 year but they finally came back around and everything worked out. They are just trying to control your wife and as soon as she puts her foot down maybe they will be upset but they will get over it. Your immediate family always comes first. -
Best day ever!!!

Video of my First Runs on the TL Meter
Hotdog replied to Hotdog's topic in SPL - SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL
Someone else told me it would be lower at the dash in my other topic. Anyway what does the first number mean that is on the left side? -
This is from the Meca Car show held in Canton Illinois on Sunday July 19 2009. A little explanation on my class... I was in the M3 class M = Modified this is because my box was about 1/4" too tall it was just a hair past the rear seat and I was in class 3 based on fusing at 150 amps. I was only running the T10001bd at 2ohms sow just 750 RMS to the 4 subs. I did have a good time and the people were very helpful with advice. I know I will be rebuilding the box in the future and I will have a better setup as far as subs and electrical go. Run #1 on the TL Vehicle Sealed TL at the head rest Run #2 on the TL Driver door open Window down TL at the headrest Looking forward to my next competition now. Also just so you know my peak was at 48 hz
