  1. Something else I wanted to mention- the severe overuse of the brand and series really detracts from an otherwise pretty set. Literally every piece has "vibe" and "space" on it in big, cast in font.. You have every right to logo your speakers, and be proud.. But this borders on cheap crappy knockoff look..
  2. Ya its a shitty deal. Ill venture a GUESS that vibe pays the buildhouse around 50-75 a set for these. Id LIKE to see them pay a little extra to get better qc.. Even if the cost would be passed to the end user.
  3. Will do! Ill actually be purchasing their lower end comps soon as well, to use the mids in the rear doors
  4. As soon as possible I sure will! I may hook them up to a reciever in a small test box tonight.. Im anxious to hear them!
  5. Final thoughts: I really feel upon first inspection, that vibe has a winner at the low $130 shipped price. There are some minor but irritating flaws that stem from poor qc. Ive no doubt sonic would make it right and send me new, but im not gonna hassle them, as its not their fault. I would like to see videget a handle on their qc a bit better, but overall.. Its a full 3 way set with some great cosmwtics and innovative design for $130.. Come on! Ive had high end comps (focal be) ive had low end comps (hifonics zxi's..) I can post comparison pics if you guys would like. The vibes do have a feel and look far surpassing their small price tag. Ill get these installed asap and get my thoughts "on paper" as far as sound, but I hope this visual walk through has been helpful (or at the least, interesting) for you guys! Ill answer any questions in the morning!
  6. The back is plastic, flimsy at that. Not a big deal, but seems a bit in contrast to the rest of the kit! Moving on to the crossovers.. I MUST note I know very little about crossover components or layout, so any input is welcome! All I can do is show pictures, and give my "build quality" thoughts.. See what I mean? Ooh they managed to get one right! Visually its a great looking (imo) crossover. Smoked plexi and aluminum.. Yum! Guts.. Everything looks in order.. There is a switch for tweeter attunuation (sorry butchered it I know) and a swith to turn the midsection off (vibe advises to actually run the woofers off seperate channels of the amp, divorced from the crossover. Odd, but a nice touch. Of note- there was some excess ca glue with a fingerprint in it on the board.. Again, quality control guys... Here we have the "3d" part of the kit.. These spacers allow you to stack the mid and tweet for increased ease of install (and a "less directional" sound, according to vibe) this would make one VERY deep speaker, and ill personally not be doing it, but it is there.. Last but not least.. The included speaker wire.. Not BAD.. its labeled as 16ga, ofc copper, nice! Its also flat, but its not all that flexible. Ill likely not use it (ive got at 10 ga) but a thoughtful touch none the less.
  7. Starting with the woofer.. Looks great.. Pretty nice, the terminals are screw down, with small phillips head screws. Very clean integration. Moving on, I run into my first issue with this kit.. I wanted to remove the grills to show you guys the cones. Well, these grills and all of the various fasteners appear to be hand screwed down. Most all of the fasteners came to me over tightened, and half stripped. Except this one.. one screw was completely stripped. the grill is basically on there for good. I got frustrated, and decided to remove the other grill. Came off easily. Heres what I see.. ".15mm cone.. Do not touch".. They are NOT kidding. This thing is THIN. sexy but thin. Im not saying this is a negative, but you def. Need grills. Then I notice something else... Excuse the poor pictures THE CONE IS BENT. This plain and simple should NOT have left the factory this way. Between this and the stripped screw, and the fact most the screws are a bit stripped.. Whichever factory builds these (im assuming chinese) REALLY needs to focus on qc. Vibe could stand to pay (and charge) a bit more for a bit of extra qc imo. On to the mid.. This thing is DEEP. it features the same thin cone as the woofer. The speaker itself is pre wired, with some reasonable sized wire (id guess 18 gauge?) And the grill apparently comes off, though i didnt attempt it. The tweeter is a silk dome, ring radiator, very thin, with the same milled aluminum finish/construction..
  8. Well, theres been no real interest, it seems, but I promised pics, and initial thoughts.. So here they are! Please keep in mind these are my notes and thoughts on this set of speakers and ymmv. Start with the box. Well constructed, decent gauge cardboard, filled with every logo and "feature" they could display. Opening it up reveals the paperwork and a nice, glossy picture (space themed, makes sense) Paperwork displayed.. Clear diagrams for wiring it up, warranty card, and other marketing stuff.. Opening all it up we finally get to see the components! On first look, everything looks VERY high quality. On first look, that is. The speakers, etc have a nice weight to them, with nice-ish metal grills and trim rings attached. There are some mounting screws and speaker wire included as well. More on that later..
  9. Well, they arrived today.. unboxing and first thoughts posts coming this evening, if you guys are interested!
