  1. The AQ2200 is $389 and it'll do around 1100rms at 2ohms, then you could work on upgrading your electrical and run it at .5 ohm down the road and you'd have all the power you need. Or you could just buy another AQ2200 and strap them and you'd be seeing 4400 watts rms. You could also do what someone else already mentioned and just get two AQ1200's and strap those and you'd be seeing around 2600 watts rms. That would run you about $500.
  2. You shouldn't be that bad off. I ran a AQ1200d at 1 ohm on my stock electrical wich consists of an 8 0 amp alt and a crappy Interstate battery and I had no problems at all. The lights dimmed a little bit when I had the volume cranked but I've done the big 3 and its better now. For 2000 watts just get 1-2 good AGM deep cycle batteries (ie: XS power, Optima Yellowtop) and you'll be good. I really don't think you need a new alt.
  3. I didn't think the older explorers had a "premium" system.. I thought the only audio option was a CD changer. Could be wrong
  4. You're not gonna be disappointed with either. The BL will probably get louder and take more power, but that amp will be a great match for either. I'm running a 15'' Q on an AQ 1200d and it gets plenty loud and sounds good doing it. Your box and the car it is going in will obviously be major factors as well. Basically if you feel like spending a couple more bills, get the BL if not just get the Q
  5. This. Hatchbacks or small SUV's are easy to get loud and not have to spend a fortune. My buddy is running a 15'' AudioBahn Immortal in a 3.75cu ft box in a 94 Mazda MX-3 and its loud as hell. Oh and you shouldn't have to worry about getting ticketed for blocking your back window... especially if its an SUV. But I'd recommend getting a rearview camera and blindspot mirrors.
  6. You just need a wiring harness. My car had an OEM JBL system w/ amp and you just need a harness to bypass the factory amp. I think my JBL speakers run at 1.5-2 Ohms and my pioneer HU runs them fine.
  7. 2002 Camry, batt on drivers side. 17ft of power wire ran on drivers side from battery to trunk. 16-17ft is the standard for most sedans.. EDIT: There's a grommet with factory wires that run directly beneath the steering wheel near the accelerator that I ran my 4 gauge wire through. Probably wouldn't work with 0 gauge though because it was a tight fit to begin with and I had to do some cutting. Anything bigger will probably require drilling.
  8. Ok yeah lower tuning is fine, especially if it's not even going to be noticable. Even with a leaky box, it still hits pretty hard! I'm running it on an AQ1200d and it's got a shitty ground too(I plan on fixing that today I just threw it in last night because I was excited lol). Thanks again for all the help guys
  9. I'm guessing it will raise it slightly to 33-34Hz?
  10. haha yea it does, at times it makes like this high pitched chirping sound. I was so pissed last night when I first dropped the sub in..
  11. Thanks for the quick replies guys. Yea I think I'm just gonna try and do the double baffle. Its just kinda hard for me to cut the hole b/c I'm measuring the circumference the old school way with a string attached to a screw in the middle, and I'm cutting it out with a jigsaw on top of that. I'm just a broke 19 year old college student so I have to work with what I have lol
  12. built a custom 3.8 cu ft box for my Fi Q15 tuned to 32Hz. This is the exact box I built: Basically the hole that I cut is about 1/4 of an inch too big, maybe a little bit less. Its not like the woofer is about to fall through, but not all of the screws are securely in. So because of this, there is a good bit of air leakage coming out the left side of the woofer. I've got a buddy who said I could try to screw them in at an angle and it might work. But if it doesn't, what do I do? Would I be able to just make another baffle and screw/glue it on top of the current one? I just don't want all the work that I put into building that box go to waste. What should I do?
  13. Be warned if your iPod is ios based(itouch/iPhone), it probably won't get along well with the headunit. Something about the iOS software messes with pioneers software and causes it to throw an error code(error 19) I run a 7200-HD and it's a great unit but that damn error code is annoying as hell.
  14. I helped install a cheapo $100 JVC unit from wal mart in my buddies altima and he's had no problems with it. The only thing he doesn't like about it is that heavy bass will cause it to distort at mid-high volume, but this is to be expected with a lower end unit. Plus he's running it on his factory speakers so yeah.. But for $200 u could get one the arsenal series units and those are pretty highly rated.
  15. sorry to thread-jack but where is a good place to get 1/0 ring terminals? I need 6 to do the big 3
  16. Thanks for all the replies guys. I think I've narrowed it down to DC and Fi. I've heard bad things about DD's customer service and the 2500 doesn't seem as substantial as the lvl 4 or the Q. It seems like the 3515 would be a better match but I know that it is probably out of my price range. Another thing is I got a reply back from DC within hours when I emailed them asking about the price. I've never had to contact Fi because they list their prices so idk how there CS is. But yeah I'm still torn between Fi and DC. Any more opinions would be appreciated
  17. Sorry guys I know there are waaay too many of these threads but I don't know how else to ask. Basically, I've already got a good portion of my system built already. I've got a Pioneer DEH-P7200HD headunit, an AQ 1200d amp, and I'm planning on having a custom box built that'll be about 3.8 cu ft tuned to 32hz. And this is all in a 2002 Camry. I want a good daily 15'' sub that will hit clean and low. I've basically narrowed it down to 3 subs. The Fi Q15, DC lvl 4, and the DD2515. Whatever sub I get I plan on wiring to 1 Ohm on my AQ. I had my heart set on the Fi Q15 for a long time, but now as I'm getting closer to actually making a purchase, I am starting to think twice as the DD and DC both look like badass subs. Any opinions please? Oh and this is my first build so go easy on me
  18. Yeah I used to but I closed it because I kept getting spammed by this asshole. My new username is 92ASC. Do I know you on YT? haha i'm SPLFreak18 on YT haha. used to make all the cerwin vega videos. Shit man yeah I remember you, and same here I used to make vids of my CV VE-12's all the time haha, haven't really put up many vids in the past year cuz I don't really have as much free time now that I'm in college.
  19. I am brand new to the car audio game and this is my first head unit I have ever owned so no lol
  20. Well I've come the conclusion that its just my iPhone messing up because my old 30GB video iPod works just fine. At first I thought everything was resolved so I plugged my iPhone back in, and sure enough within a minute or two, I get that damn error message. So I guess now my dilemma is keep the headunit and just use my old iPod, or swap it with another unit that is compatible with my iPhone. I really like how this headunit sounds and interface is pretty simple and easy to use too so I don't really wanna get rid of it if its an issue that can be resolved somehow, but at the same time I don't know how much longer my 5 year old iPod is gonna last
  21. Yeah I haven't reset the deck yet, I guess I'll try that next. I've also still got my old 30GB video iPod so I think I'm gonna try that and see if I have any more luck.
  22. Yeah I used to but I closed it because I kept getting spammed by this asshole. My new username is 92ASC. Do I know you on YT? haha
