a wall does reduce visibility, so on the freeway you won't be whipping through traffic. Pick your lane and stay there unless you're 100% sure no cars are near you. Also realize the subs/batts/amps aren't mounted on the roof, so you won't really be top heavy like you think. I have an Altima with a wall and about 1k of weight in the trunk. Custom rear springs was all I did to it and the ride is decent and I'm never in a hurry when driving it.

I've never had to recone a blown one, I always cut up a working sub. Either to change sub size, VC config, or to upgrade to alum coils. But as was said, ANY sub can be blown if abused enough...

I hit up about 15 comps in the IL/IN/WI area last year. I'm up by Six Flags in IL. Some were DbDrag, USACI, and some smaller shows put on by local shops. Sponsorship is VERY rare to come by...

once you get it reconed and reinstalled, set your gain properly and don't clip the shit out of it and the coil won't unwind.

OMFG at the useless info in this post. AQ recommends playing them at low volume and no low freqs to break in the spider pack, has nothing to do with the surround loosening up. They use an 8 layer spider and that's what requires the break in as early on they had an issue with a few subs that were played full tilt right from the start and they made a noise at lower volumes as the spider pack didn't set properly. Now it's more of a CYA thing on their part as I've heard of no issues in over a year and DJ constantly tests and upgrades the subs. Play the radio or whatever for 8-10 hours at low volume as you just need to get some heat into the motor. I leave the car in the garage playing and start it up every few hours to keep from killing the batts. The suspension will loosen up over time and the sub will get louder and play lower....

You have no where near enough power for alum coils as they are far less efficient then the copper coils. I run an AQ3500 on each sub for daily (alum coils), just dial back the gain a fuzz for long listening sessions and wire down to .25ohm for metering. Get a DC alt and 4 G31 batts, BIG3, and 2-4 runs of 1/0 to the rear and you'll be set.

Should just recone the HDC's to alum coils and get another 3500...

I run 4 AQ3500's in my daily set up. DC 270a alt and 8 Deka's. Long demo's aren't a problem, other then loss of hearing

my subs play it just fine, but it's not exactly a clean beat to begin with....

Got one guy on DOA running a soundigital 8k amp. Still not sure how it is for daily as he blew his HDC's with it the other week and wasn't much louder then when he had 2 sundown 1500's. Reconed his subs the other night, so he'll be metering at the CACO show on Saturday. Some kid said $40k in the sundown one truck which I knew was BS unless that included purchase price. Don't think I'm ready for Tommy if he can burp at .25ohm as he has a TON of cone area. But 30sec average on music would be a diff story as I can play full tilt for several minutes straight. I only burped at this show, so I could get a baseline for some upcoming changes....

fur gets a lot of reactions, mostly positive and the ladies like it, so it stays... what kind of power you going to throw at the BTL's? And who had the expensive JL set up in the black truck? Looked nice and actually did better numbers then I expected...

4 AQ3500's and alum coil subs. Reconing to copper next week as I just can't push them hard enough with box rise as it was a nightmare squeezing 18cubes in there. Wall is tuned to 36Hz for daily and plays music VERY well... What's the specs on the enclosure with the 2 9518's and how much power? We have a guy on DOA with 2 9515's off 2 AQ2200's doing around 148.5 in an explorer. Just needs more power...

BTL set up will be loud once you throw some power at them.

Can't see the vids but I'm guessing the 4 AQ's was me. I had the pimpin black altima. Did a 156.6, so good enough for 1st place. Other Team DOA guys got 2nd and 3rd. 9 hours round trip though... Lot of DD and FI stuff down there which was nice to see. Rio couldn't get the amps to work at .25ohm. I tried mine like that last night and I expect bigger numbers in the near future.

A few of us from Team DOA made the trip down. Lot of FI/DD equipment which surprised me, plus a van running AQ stuff. Me, BigJoker, and Sleepy took home the hardware

Box requirements won't change. In his testing DJ said the new copper is 1dB+ louder then the original copper. I have 4 recones sitting in my garage, but no motivation right now...
