  1. why is that your dream amp and since it is why don't you own it?
  2. 4.5 net is nice for daily, especially off that power level. Do 16^2 port per net cube and make the port 21" long for 35hz tuning
  3. so you clamped it and the amp did 1500watts? Cuz I'm pretty sure you said it was a 2500-3000watt amp.... Either way it's still impressive
  4. mids/highs in your sig should easily keep up with 2 15's... yeah i wont be adding anything until i put the 1600.2 on them and see how loud they are. I have a couple 1600.2's sitting in my garage, sexy amps...
  5. x2 do a 6th order. Have mine in one and have been very happy with it...
  6. OP you could look into Pyle bullets for your A-pillars if you really need more tweeter. I run 2 per side and they scream, but sound good also. I think you can find them in black as many companies make the same tweeter...
  7. AQ supertweeter would be a good match for a 6" selenium
  8. mids/highs in your sig should easily keep up with 2 15's...
  9. FI = AA.....probably why this hasn't been called a vs thread yet
  10. chisel and flapper disc and you can have an 18" basket clean in about 10 minutes. My first time cleaning a basket was well over an hour
  11. x2 and I'd tune a little higher then 32Hz unless you plan to just play stuff in the 20's. 35Hz tuning will play high 20's no problem...
  12. Mike I'm doing the build so you know it will be done right. I'm gonna attempt it. I'll do 1.5 cubes sealed in a 2:1 ratio tuned to 45hz. I figured if tys hummer could do it with hds we could attempt it with hdc3s I tried my 18's in a 2:1 and they sucked. I've "heard" that they will work if the sealed side is very large, actually larger then the ported side, but I didn't have room to try that. GL and be sure to post up how it turns out...
  13. Not hard at all, and only takes a few tools. I've one around 50-60 in the past few years since I seem to recone for everyone in the area. Angle grinder with 60grit flap disc & 1/2" wide wood chisel are the 2 "special" tools I use. Figure on a few hours for your first one, especially if you have to solder the leads vs direct connects.
  14. What dbDrag class is 30 seconds peak hold? You sure he doesn't mean you have 30 seconds to meter and your loudest score at the end is your score? That would make more sense... So you could burp and then try another freq and another one, but your loudest score is what will stay on the screen = peak hold Also make sure your batt(s) are fully charged, so no demo's before you plan to meter and let the car run for a while. Also you can rev the motor to 1900RPM while metering which should give you a little more voltage.
  15. x2 get there early and talk with the person running the comp. Very good chance they'll let you do a sweep before you have to qualify. He might even have a sweep disc or someone at the comp should if you can't find one...
  16. Might also want to consider 4 15's as you're pretty tight on space. While 4 18's might look impressive, if the enclosure is too small you'd be louder with 4 15's in the right size box.
  17. IMO don't do it. I've tried my HDC's in a 4th and it didn't work well at all. 6th order worked well, but I'm not sure you'd have the room for that in a trunk. For a single 15 off a 1200 I'd try to do 4.5cubes net and tune 35-38Hz, should be a solid daily set up...
  18. Ideally you'd want to do a sweep to see where you peak at. then burp on a tone at that freq, then higher and lower also to see what's loudest. Same if you have to play music, find a song that's at your peak freq or very close to it. DbDrag offers burp classes and bassrace which is a 30sec average on music where you have a dB limit you can't go over. And FYI, what sounds loudest to the ear will NOT be what meters the loudest. Best bet is to get there early, ask questions and watch what others do. Normally there are plenty of experienced people who will help out a first time competitor. And have fun as that will make you want to come back which helps to keep the sport alive...
  19. will you be doing a burp, 30 second average, playing music or tone? Need more info....
  20.   please do not do this clipping will in no way make you louder. if any thing u would lose dbs from clipping. plus you risk ruining your equipment.   Where did you read that? Actually it could be louder... Clipping just from gains is a waveform distortion for when an amp is overdriven... Because the clipped waveform has more area underneath it than the smaller maximum unclipped waveform, the amplifier is actually producing more power... but its dirty power... You would be louder but would most likely burn up your equipment doing it. So dont do that OP I know this from experience and a 3sec burp will NOT burn up equipment even if he's running total garbage. Makes no diff that it's your daily driver, if you're metering and trying to put up your best number some clipping will more then likely get you there. Then dial it back when you're done...
  21. I'd meter with the amp set with the DD-1, then turn up the gain more and meter again. You'll more then likely be louder with some clipping which should be fine for a 3 second burp...
  22. Forgot to mention also have a team mate with a nendo 5500 and it's a strong amp for daily and metering wired down...
  23. Got a team mate with 2 HDC 18's doing a 52 legal with a single AQ3500.1 @ .25ohm for burps. Does around a 50 @ 1ohm
  24. Your 5kw amp was not doing close to that if a cap helped. Do some reading/learning as you have a long way to go, then you can make informed decisions or ask better questions...
  25. Copper coil HDC would do well on 1200watts. Just because it can take more doesn't mean you have to feed it that much. I'd go on the big side for the enclosure if you go that route. No idea what a BL is rated for, but I'm running an AQ1200 on the wife's Q with no issues.
