That Looks like the OEM sub. I know on a "mis-engineered" batch of OEM 10's, LOTS of folks were having issues with the surrounds coming unglued and having to reatach them repeatedly. They did however sell that batch at ridiculous discount and I'd kinda say well "you bought a defective sub, at like 1/2 price....? If you got ANY good times out of it I'd pretty much say fair's fair. From the TC forum/ROE/CA.com it sounds like the Customer service is pretty terrible. However in their defense, of the MANY bitchers and whiners I've read posts from, it sounded a lot like operator error and ABUSE-not to mention a lot of JACKASSes who started off on the wrong foot w/ the customer service guys too. Lots of folks claiming to have called them up numerous times and different hours and screaming into the phone-Great way to get them to "work with you". Thus, I'm planning on babying mine and not needing to repair them EVER. But, Yea TC actually WON me over. I was debating on my NEW setup-still 4-12's but I wanted to increase my output by going with a woofer with "a more respectable" amount of xmax than My Kicker CVR's. I picked up 4-TC-1000 12D's right before the whole price hike crappola. 24mm one way for $170each beat out the other subs I was lookin at easy. SOME day, I will be rebuilding my car w/ these TC 1000's. I have also managed to scrounge up a total of 7 PG Tantrum amps to play with-3 1200.1's and 4 600.4's.

Nah the 9856 is 2v. Sucks too cuz I had an older Alpine 4v, motorized/detach face and I "upgraded" to make it ipod friendly and mp3 capable and noticed a considerable drop in output. Also-The 9856 has a TERRIBLE design for attaching/removing the faceplate. So much so that I generally leave it in there even knowing I shouldn't but I pretty much sit w/ in 20ft of my car and have sight of it too while at werk so less than worried. I'd Go with a kenwood or eclipse model personally. I've always loved Alpine but I wanna try a kenwood like the KDC-X891, or 991. Very nice units IMO. 991 has 512mb of ram too and fastest ipod connectivity out there.

Thats a good point/analogy. It makes sense too, cuz I was never a ahuge fan of the spinning truck bed for that matter either. Mind you-THAT is what was winning the Hydro comps back then and what was in style n all and all that changes with the times. But It should just be a show setup IMO. I'm more a fan of a "pimped" ride that has usefull performance built into the mods/custom stuff. Just spinning ur doors or truck bed is silly to me unless ur at that kind of show/comp and it's for display. I see that guy doin his thang in traffic there but I'm pretty sure you'd get some crazy ass ticket for doin it over here. When I first saw it waaay back when youtube first came around it was a slide show of pics and I thought the diff positions were kinda cool esp since Lambo doors were still pretty new then. I'd rock some LAMBO doors or some suicided setup but to spin em is a lil much i think. PLUS-Being an audio guy-the spinning presents a prob is you have speakers in the doors! The cables are just gonna get all tangled? Or no door speakers, rear deck only? I dunnno-just not my bag. Props for the engineering guys that came up w/ it. It's DEFINATELY unique and flashy.

A WORLD of diff. IMO. That car is GROSS. (and NOT in a good way) 2 T15kw amps is shittin on everybody. Chicken is wealthy guy who KNOWS how to spend $$$, and not on some gross abomination of a show car. I've seen this car b4. I still dont like it. Granted-It's a "feat", an accomplishment to have a showcar with spinning doors and waving trunk and all, but the DROP on that ride, with the wheels splayed out to the sides like a dog with hip displatia? DAMN! That shot of 16-18's in the garage totally PWNs the sh*t outta my 30+ woofers chillin in my room. In about every catagory too: Power handling, SD, xmax,overall output, and sure as hell COOL factor. Just sick. Also-I asked about if the walls were tapered or not but from the lookof the pics they are parallel. Im thinkin thats why the goobers on ROE were hating. Ditto. Sometimes the hardest thing is finding customers when you dont have a "shop", just a garage to work out of. Steve has some dope friends...with some big time $$$ too. He's always bizzy on sumpin. Good thing too. None of my buddies would be "bass hungry" enough for 4 15's LET ALONE 8-18's and a 15KW AMP! I think the benefit test/tune spl/RTA comp is the best idea. I would be down for sure. If needed we could make a "what kind of prizes" thread-where folks could donate products of things to win instead of trophies-cool stuff like subs/amps/any items like that anyone wanted to donate to the prize bin. The entry fees could all go to the cause. I think that would work. I'd be down too. -On the cd "sales" idea I'm pretty sure that would be a legal nightmare.

How so? If there's only one sub, swapping polarity would only have it out of phase 180degrees...and only out of phase w/ the midbass from the mids, since there's only one woofer in this system...Right? If it's out of Phase and you have a PHASE selector on the amp try it in the 180 degree position. Ditto from above^^? Please take no offense-I'm seriously wondering if IM missing something that would damage a sub in that scenario...? Only prob I have/can guess with the stereo shop guys not wiring it "correctly"...if it is DVC 4 ohm, maybe they have it wired to 8ohm and the amp is pushing minimal power. ~2cents.
