Yea Autoloc.com has options on linear actuators good for moving weight too like a decently weighted amp rack/sub box/ or home made lambo doors. You can go direct or hit em up via a shop and prolly get better pricing. Good luck.

Yea. After you pull the door panel, reach inside to the edge of the door that meets the body of the car and locate the grommet/accordian looking black rubber boot. Dislodge it @ both ends and just thread thru your own wire that way you can take the opportunity to upgrade the speaker wire and get better signal to your mids. The "in door" side of the wire goes to the new mid. The "in car" end runs back to your amp. TA-DA.

Well, pre-drilling and just using coarse thread, pan head screws works well as long as your woofers have a decent gasket w/ them, otherwise you should cut your own out of rubber/or cork gasket material. Look at my box(members section)-thats how I mounted my subs directly to the 3/4" plexi. On the pre-drilling you have to go real slowly and pull back/away from the surface so ur sure to extract the material you're shaving out as you go so it doesn't "bunch up" in the hole and cuase so much tension it cracks/chips the plexi. Heating the bit will help too (plastic=melting as you go) Otherwise us a a dremmel/rotozip or other HIGH RPM tool that will purely melt the hole you want.

Are you sure you mean ^3 of port? You COULD, as ports are 3 dimensional, but then it seems pretty small when you consider most setups like this would be 100in^2+ of port...and that would mean it's only 1" deep. Prolly just a typo but Being anal is what seperates us from...whoever we're seperate from :watsup:.

Actually-I bet it is killin em when compared to most streat beaters out there. You know what I mean too, you been at it longer than I have so i'm sure you seen your share of "omg bad" setups. That "lil" setup shits on at least 1/2 the setups I see tryin to "sideshow" in my P-lot at work. Nice gear as usual Steve. I wish I had a 2nd/3rd ride to build a different setup in. I think after taxes $$$ come backin, I'm bout to say screw payin off the credit cards and buy me some "big boy" subs for a competitive rebuild this summer.

David's right there is a special "Ford" deck removal tool. It is not exp$ and avail at your local autoparts or audio shop. It's actually 2 parts, they are steel "hooks" in the shape of a "U" w/ "prongs" @ the ends. They insert into those 4 holes (2 on each side of the deck/dash) and "lock" into the deck housing. They will serve as "handles" to pull the whole assembly out. hope that helps. If not post any more Q's u may have.

Agreed. I try damn hard not to "brand hate", but this is gonna be a resounding NO WAY, on buying dual ANYTHING. I work in an autoparts shop and folks come in and ask "Do you carry decks?" I glance at my selection of jensen/Rampage/and DUAL, and reply "KINDA". I'm sorry to say so but it REALLY is low end stuff and only something I'd put in a car going to a wrecker/donation/or selling to a person I did not like. The few times I have sold them they have failed horribly and either ended in returns or just straight throw aways and the old "I told ya so" from me when that customer comes back to ask about ME personally hooking them up w/ a namebrand deck. You don't want to cut corners on a SOURCE unit like your deck, ESPECIALLY if you're going to invest in MORE equipment like amps and subwoofers as you mentioned-any probs w/ the deck will just be AMPLIFIED when you get to adding AMPS/subs/etc. Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer: All have 1-3preout decks avail on ebay for around $100-$300 BNIB. If you need help finding them ask away but please do not go with the DUAL. You will regret it.

OK- So I kno this is a pretty old topic but I finally have some pics of this project so i figg'd better late than never. It is a SCULPTURE. It is ARSTY, and somewhat abstract, and I put it together in about 2-3days after work. The "artist" said it needed to look like a person coming out of an egg yoke...but not "too good" cuz it was "her project" for a grade. She brought me the arms and some materials and needed my Glassing skills to get it done so i left it somewhat "rough" (haha no sanding at all just mixed/poured the resin and let it find its own shape. The white is walling spackle i used as "filler". Light weight and dried quickly. Here's some pix. I'll see if I can get any better final pics w/ the white egg shell pieces too.

Are you local? (Norcal/sac?) Setup looks like something this guy Gately (he is here but never really posts) would have done cuz he's huge into plexi/lexan. Just curious. Nice setup and good ###'s to boot! :w00t:

Yea Quart stuff is always at least Ok/good but the Q line is what it's about nowadays for sure. I put some in my buddies MKIV Supra-Reference components up front and discus 2way rears. The Xovers on the refs are made to "emulate" the look of the musicomps but the guts are sadly different and I noticed it in the supra. Still damn fine mids but "fine lines" are what High end sound Q is all about so it's noticeble. I bet those 15w6's are pretty nice too. Nice choice on products.

Some very nice equipment too. I have Quart 5 1/4's as well and love em. Which set u have? And with/w/out musicomp x overs? They make a huge diff IMO.

You think those would function properly in 3cubes each? I've never had/run RE subs so i dunno how air hungry they are but kinda makes me go hmmmmmm. :shiftyph34r:
