That's just "my system" that seems to work well. You could do it all kinds of diff ways but this way works for me so I thought I'd share since some folks on here have voiced concerns and opinions about dealing with these bose setups. Hope it helps. The boxes actually have lil amps built into them and you just have to make sure you bypass the stock wiring and run wires driect to the speakers, not thru the stock amp. Signal can be tapped at the plug that hooks to the pods plug (orange and green on the passenger side)

Installed back in the stock location via stock hardware. Clearence (or lack thereof) on the xover. Other side They got HELLA Z's. Here's the Lexus Version-Prolly same in most Toyotas. These are sealed and I used long strand/kitty hair-bondo-mud to build em up and used body filler over that, then sprayed em black.
-
Tweeter and mid wiring. Later filled in w/ hi strength liquid nails. In this Fosgate FNP 5 1/4"set the x-over fits nicely right to the side of the pod. Other side. After the face is all figured out, I just goop it the hell up w/ a lotta liquid nails and glue/seal it in place. I also use the stock mounting screws to bolt up the face via those holes w/ the screw guides that I zipped off earlier. So screws+ glue. The I paint em black just cuz I'm anal. Here's the only shot I have of the ported version-essentially identical +port and Audiobahn comp. set. Port is screwed and glued in place from the front of the new pod face.

These lil screw points are raised and need to be removed so the NEW FACE will sit flat/flush. Better shot of the RETAINED mounting points. Lift up the gasket and zip off those lil screw supports so it's flat. This next part is optional: I prefer to leave the pods SEALED once the face is on and that saves some time/effort, but on the first set I did I cut out the port and mounted it to the new pod face so it would still be ported, but in this small of an enclosure the port is not needed and in most cases allows the mid to move into over-excursion. Poppin out the port. I left some material around the edge of the port so I had a place to screw thru to remount it to the new pod face. I keep that face piece I cutout as a template to transfer to carboard/then 1/4" mdf. It's easier to get the mid alignment just right and make room for the magnet if you figure it out on cardboard 1st. Trace that onto the 1/4" mdf. Get it all lined up and test fit the face. Should fit flat like this The sealed verison.

Here's the cuts. Face Roto Zipped/Dremmeled off (I use the grinding/cutoff wheel and it basically just shaves/melts it cleanly) You can see I take the face off but leave as much as possible ESPECIALLY the mounting points and that makes putting em back in a piece-o-cake. The face. Here's the lil port.

OK so if you guys don't know there's a whole friggin slew of Z32's here in SAC/Norcal area and I have the privilage of workin on few of em now and then. They generally have the Bose "pods" housing mids front and in rear too and I have rebuilt the front/face of them to hold some better/after market component sets. So, I thought since I pretty much have it down to a reliable "system" I'd post what I do when I mess w/ these pods. Here's a few of the rides the work went into: Josh's Pearl white TT Cpe/BEAST (550 rwhp dyno'd) Carlo's Baby Blue Cpe: Paolo's Red JDM 2+2. Ken's Uber Clean Black Cpe. AND although NOT a Z32, Justin's Lexus 93 SC300 Had Bose pods too. So here's where it starts: The door panel: Take that off. The hole the pod sits in. They start out with the mid in em (duh) and I just tape off where I wanna cut the face off and trace it on there over the tape. Grill off. Mid comin out. They actually polyfill the lil pods.

I dunno how you get ur "Meade 45's" so pretty and uniform but they look perfect in there. FYI-I stole em and threw some mini 45's in the truck box i'm buildin after RAY got me all "spooked" questioning the solidity (sp?) of the middle piece. I'd say wrap em in carpet or sumpin... SPL is NO EXCUSE IMO but I know them pure SPL folks will build some LOUD stuff and not worry bout the "pretty" at all so I guess give em what they ask for. As most folks here would prolly agree-aint no shame in a well built, straight edged, router rounded box or 2 w/ uniform resin coating and perfectly aligned Aeros.MDF can be sexy as hell. FAR better aesthetically than A LOT of whats out there. I say 155 on the dash.

Wow glad to hear THAT. I have had nothing but bad exp's with them, and basically after 2 burns I decided to never go back. They don't update their inventory/listings/availability often...or EVER. I still find stuff that I WOULD order and if i email em on it, in like a week or 2 they say "oh sorry we've been out of those for yrs" but never change the lisings/product line. Same thing with acaraudio.com. ~2cents. -

Think back: Remember Steve BLOWIN that Bums MIND in the WINDOW SHAKE video? Its about "Luck" and what kind of "CRAZIES" you run into that really MAKES those kinda stories. I never had my camera handy to film any of it but if I cruise by the highschoolers crossin the street, any lightrail station, or any pedestrians they all start to "GO DUMB" and dance their way across the street and I'm sure They would be just GEEKIN 10X over the louder the BOOM is so I'm sure it's the same for Steve, KingSUV and all the "heavy hitters". Truthfully, as many have pointed out-MY setup is not the loudest by far, but I have yet to encounter anyone ONE THE STREET w/ a comparable setup. I get my ASS handed to me if the BIG boys around SAC like Steve show up. I have a MUCH louder setup that whats in there now in the works for my car once I finish all the installs for other folks. -
It's ridiculous in there for sure. once the knob turns ur ears feel like ur on a plane climbing in altitude or goin deep under water but the pressure is pretty silly and the air rushing around you is like a wind tunnel. I told Steve he can pretty much delete his A/C cuz the air is just wooooshing all around you-check out dudes shirt.

I get folks mean muggin, shakin their heads, pointing to their ears, givin me the finger, hollerin stuff I can't hear, but the CRAZIEST i ever got: 1: I was behind an SUV jus jammin on some nice tunes, but not "maxxin it out" and the driver in the SUV puts it in park, gets out, and walks up to my window to tell me "you're wakin up may baby!". I was like "sorry dude" and turned it down a bit till they were outta the area. I was kinda in shock that anyone would even be that ballsy-some of the folks bumpin down the street would put a bullet in ya for walkin up on em like that. I guess he's lucky I'ma dorky whiteboy that leaves my guns at home. 2: I was at Folsom & Watt in the outside turn lane, Just after I built the setup, still breakin it in, and i was bumpin some 3-6- mafia. In the inside turn lane theres a dude in the back seat and 2 chicks up front of a lil import. I was lookin over at the chicks that were "rockin out" to my tunes and the rear window rolls down. Dude goes " hey man what you got in there". I said "4-12's". He goes "you wanna see some ASS!?" I looked at the chicks and said "watcha got?!?" So the driver chick puts it in park, runs over in front of my ride, and starts P-poppin and shakin her ass. However-SHE AINT GOT NO PANTIES ON! so, once her skirt is up over her ass, I see the WHOLE dealio. I flicked my high beams on and was like "Oh shiiiiiiiiit!" and the dude in the back seat was just laughin his ass off. The light changed and we both skirted out. HANDS DOWN, FUNNIEST THING EVER HAPPENED as a result of my beat. -

Colder Ac
LSN2meBoom916 replied to a topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
If it's ANY less cold than when the car was new, or if you fill it and it GETS COLDER, you def have a leak. Your A/C system is a SEALED system that re-circulates the freon via the compressor/pump, an accumulator, and expansion valve and lines the freon passes thru, but it SHOULD be sealed at all times. If you EVER have to add more it's because: 1. It's leaking, 2. You changed the Pump, and thus opened the system, or 3. You're converting from the old R12 to 134a. R12 is toxic to people just like carbon monoxide and if it were to leak in ur ride while you were driving, it could make you get sleepy and pass out the same way C.M. would, and you could crash ur ride/kill others/etc, hence the CHANGE over to the "less effective" R134a. R134a is STILL a green house gas and will deplete the ozone so should not be "bled off" into the atmosphere. If you have isssues w/ it make sure an A/C tech checks it w/ some Ultra Violet dye and a light to find ALL the leaks, or any freon you put in will leak back out over time. Once you're sure it's sealed, you can refill it urself via that lil blue cap which is the LOW pressure side and the kit (3 cans of R134a, hose w/ quick connect fitting for R134a, gauge to check the pressure and also the R12 to R134a adapters) is avail at AutoZone/Kragen/Napa/Pep Boys etc, for about $40. -

Way to make friends man. I told you "GOOD LUCK @ that price" for a reason Folks over here are prolly a lil too power hungry for that one, so I would play the bump game on CA.com or ROE. ~2cents. -
Anybody else catch the meter they're using? A/C unit. NOT A TL. ALL smoke and mirrors...and QUITE GAY! Pimp my ride is now just like almost all other "REALITY" shows, I can watch for a few minutes but I always end up yelling at the TV or draggin someone in to see how retarded the show is, then leaving to go do something productive. Show went down hill as of the very 1st jackasshammer in that back seat enclosure. SIDENOTE-MTX sure knows their marketing BS. You know they're makin bank off the retards.

Why the change of heart may I ask? What condition are these in? Ever run? BNIB? Just curious, and they look really nice. -
Nope. It's 4-12's sealed. I don't need my Gangsta rap super poetic and perfect but I only use Lil Jon and stuff w/ hella repetitive chorus/lyrics and little depth as a sub demo, while I prefer to listen to Big Rich and E-40 all day. I'll post the rest of the vids but I dun think this needs to go any further. It's a taste thing and the only reason I posted what I did was it sounded like you were pretty "heated" about losing 9.99 on iTunes and somehow blame me. Dude I wasn't crackin on ur system, or "goin off" on it, if anything maybe jst trying to correct that statement you made. My 1200.1 does "maybe" 1200-1400rms, and you have 20k watts, thats closer to 20times than 10times.
