  1. I'd suggest you do a ton of reading on the forum + read as much as u can from bcae1.com... It's best to get sum basic knowledge under your belt before you start throwing money around. Between the 2 sources there is plenty of information that can get u started on learning all of the basics.
  2. That sounds just fine to me, should see a pretty gain by making a switch also... As long as it's clean power then the 4xl will laugh at that power daily.
  3. Thor's setup isn't exactly your regular trunk setup by any means... He runs multiple batts, HO alt, multiple power/ground runs, and oh yeah a Stetsom 14k2d + 2 DC LVL5 10s. Yes he has done over a 150 in a trunk car w/ 2 10s and a shit load of power. Also if u are thinking that $460 is a lot of money, then this hobby might not be the best one to get into. Thor's setup prolli has at least 5 grand into it in products alone, not counting the countless hours that he's put into his ride. He's done a ton of testing, building, and rebuilding with his current setup. But in my 06 Sonata I had - 18" DC LVL4xl D1, AB VFL200.1 @ .5ohm, Ohio Gen alt, Kinetik 1400 + (2) 2400s, a bunch of 1/0 wire, and a ton os SS Damp Pro. Box was 5.5ft3 @ 34hz w/ 75in^2 of port, sub up + ports facing to the rear. It did a 147.8 @ dash, TL sealed up @ 41hz + 144.9 bassrace.
  4. Does he also need an HU also?? or is the $500 just for sub(s)/amp(s)/enclosure/wiring kit... 15" Alpine Type-R D2($200 approx.) / Audiopipe 1500D@ 1ohm($150 approx.) / Knukoncepts 1/0 wiring kit($75 approx.) / 3.5ft3 @ 34hz, 55in^2 of port.. Wood + screws + glue + sealant($40 approx). That's prolli the best that you can do for about $500... Truthfully he'll be a good amount louder than you also lol.
  5. Truthfully if I were in your shoes right now I'd take out the amp(s) before u damage the amps worse than they already have been.
  6. Have u tried looking through the hundreds of build logs on the site?? I'm sure at least one of them will have a good idea as to how you should mount them and show techniques to build a proper ported enclosure. There are a few different enclosure calculators out there, including one at the top of the section this is posted in. I have a really hard time believing that u did a lot of research and don't even know where to start. There is soo much info on this site and it's not like it's hard to find either.
  7. Out of all the woofers I've owned, tested, or installed over the past 9 years (75 or more different woofers) these were the single worst sounding subs I've ever heard. I got a single 15 for dirt cheap local and tried it out in multiple enclosures and it was horrible in all of them. But as far as a burp sub, these things are pretty damn good and can handle sum pretty big power too. If you're planning on running it in anything that isn't a burp box, then I'd suggest you pass on it. I'd also like to see you ask the CL poster to see a receipt proving he paid a grand for it too.
  8. A pair of Hifonics Hifi 12s for like $60-80 off ebay and a cheap 500w 2 channel amps... Is the $300 also needed to build a box + install also??
  9. This is exactly what I was gonna say.. God for bid something were to happen with the wiring of someone's ride, you realistically could be fucked because of it. Say it overloaded someone's ECU for whatever reason or a fire started, all of that would be coming out of pocket because of it. So you've made a total of 4 boxes and now want to start a business out of it?? People wanna see tons of previous work before they are gonna trust you to install for them. I'd wait to get a lot more experience before you try to start up sum sort of business. Plus you have to remember that 99% of your customers will be coming for an enclosure maybe once every 2 years or so, so it's not like you're gonna have the same weekly customers. Not saying you can't do it, but I'd just think long and hard about it before you start putting your own into it.
  10. Father runs/owns AQ + son runs/owns DD... Both have awesome products and share technologies making them both successful.
  11. On that power SEs without a question... W3s would prolli be up in smoke pretty quickly seeing that power.
  12. Damn Jake that's like having a chick pull your pants down and just licking the tip.
  13. Just go through Knukoncepts, they have pretty much everything u need and for the price it can't be beat. Plus the quality of the product is undeniable.
  14. Wrap it in leather, if done right it looks pretty damn good... Personally I'd just wrap it in shag carpet.
  15. You should prolli try bumping this thread up at a more appropriate time when people are actually awake still, it's 4:14am EST right now. Try bumping it at like 6-7pm or so and you'll prolli get a better response. Also I wouldn't expect to get a free box design, I know accordman does nice designs for a small fee so I'd suggest sending him a PM.
  16. I just have a really hard time believing that a street legal n/a K20a is doing 300whp, but I'll eat my words if he has proof of it. That's actually pretty surprising that you haven't heard of Dinan.. They are the only company that as long as parts are installed by BMW dealers, the mods are still covered under warranty.
  17. Besides the other people that are on the wikipedia I posted, my old HS big claim to fame was that we've had 6 different Nobel prize winners to go there. It's tied with some other HS for the most Nobel winners in the US with 6.
  18. Your Si actually is very nice and my buddy has an 08 white Si that's turboed with just about every other engine mod imaginable. It's prolli the only Civic I've ever driven that I wouldn't mind driving every day. What engine has he claimed to do 300whp with just those mods?? Btw don't have a vid of my M6 but this is what one sounds like w/ same exhaust I have(i also have the Dinan stg 1 chip) -
  19. Contact Ohio Gen for all your alternator needs, IMO the best alts on the market.
  20. Still curious as to why the OP would buy all this equipment and wire @ .5ohm daily with a shit electrical to back it up... Did u really just ignore the fact that you need a pretty big electrical to run that amp @ .5ohm daily?? I've said it so many time that it's absolutely pointless to spend all this money on equipment when u don't have any electrical upgrades to run it properly. Just wire it @ 2ohms for the time being, so we don't see a thread in a few days asking if your amp blew. Plus turn the gains down and keep the volume knob low until you upgrade your electrical system. Also do the big 3 upgrade ASAP, it's a cheap upgrade and can be done in a short amount of time. Even wired @ 2ohms you'll still be seeing sum voltage drops because you really don't have much to back it up.
  21. Are the ports firing forward into the cabin or through the rear deck?? Using aero ports that is alot of port area, almost 11in^2 per ft3.
  22. It means no forced induction of any kind, like superchargers or turbos. I agree with this 100000%
