  1. Could be a yes or a no. Set your gains with a dmm since I assume you do not have ready access to an oscilloscope. There are a few good tutorials online. Also, there is a set chart somewhere online that I am sure someone can post for you.
  2. I think you should sell me the batteries and amp for cheap, and start smaller. MUCH smaller. lol But seriously, do a good bit more research than just asking questions to try to get your answers. You can't get everything answered 100% accurate on everything through people on the internet. You have to either learn and then figure out on your own, or take it to someone who does know. Running 6k daily, nothing good can come out of an "oops."
  3. I have been running my aero for a while now and for my rebuild here this month I want to go back to the good ol' slot port. BUT, my issue I will be facing is that my trunk cut-out sort of "covers" the top corner of my slot when i'm trying to use up every bit of width possible to get a good final net, and have the front fit snug so I can seal it off... Here is my old box to show what I am talking about: Now, I have been looking into flaring my port. From the knowledge I have, this obstruction will affect my tuning slightly, raising it. If I were to put a flare onto the end of my port coming out of the baffle, (derrrr a flared port) would this possibly help against the minor obstruction my stupid cut-out covers? In order to get my targeted net ft^3, I need to use 2 common port walls or this would not be an issue. (Side wall, then back wall for the bend.) Thanks ahead guys.
  4. He said bass knob, as in remote gain. At least i'm pretty sure that's what he meant. Even if his settings are terrible, the only reason why they would be any different would be that he moved them somehow.
  5. DC 3.5k = 3,500 board. OLD AQ3500 = 3,500 board. New AQ3500.1d = 4,200 board.
  6. Perhaps he could rig up some turbine type of system so when the bass hits it will somehow run into his electrical system. Self-powered car audio. Nice. /troll But for real. I dunno.
  7. Well i'm in a Tupac mood and want to add some new music to my flash drive. Link me up some good ones! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4HjsZqOaQ0
  8. 3,300 @ 1-ohm. 4,000 @ .5-ohm. I run one.
  9. How much are you looking to spend?
  10. It's a great sub. I was on the fence between Fi and DC at the time, and happened to go with Rusty because of how his customer service is talked up. And I can say that you won't get any better service than you do with DC. Rusty's's taken care of me a time or two. But the BL is a little monster it itself. You can really go wrong there.
  11. Very nice. I just turned over 124,000 the other day. It's why i'm so hesitant to buy a $400.00 HO Alt. The Alero world isn't in high demand for them. Batteries are transferrable. lol
  12. I had both on my 15" DC XL in my Alero and prefer sealed into the cabin. But that will require a good bit more work to seal it off. Firing back seemed to handle <32Hz a bit better. But once I started running 3k sealed forward with my Crescendo, it didn't really matter. I gained a good bit of spl in doing so too. About a 3db in crease sealing it off.
  13. You gotta start somewhere. Looks good man. And you want to go with the rms value, ALWAYS. Maxx ratings are a selling point. You'll NEVER see those numbers. The only thing you can really do is play around with box positioning, maybe add a little power, but not much to those. The best way t get louder in your situation is to upgrade subs and amp.
  14. I take it you are looking at 12" Type-R's. I'd run a 15" BL in an Alero trunk first. Single sub setups for the win. 4.0ft^3 tuned to 34Hz on around 1000-1500wrms. Yeah. I like.
  15. By the time you spend the cash for the Type-R and recone, you might as well get the Fi Q or BL. lol And if you mean typr-r's as in plural, Fi BL > Type r's.
  16. Alpine Type R. And.... IB4L. Heyyyyyy fellow Alero owner. Ever hear of Aleromod.com?
  17. If you're worried about price, just run a sealed pre-fab. Or sell that equipment and start fresh.
  18. Lol, I remember you saying 2 cubes when I came to you directly. I just figured i'd throw up a thread and see if anyone else that I didn't know about specifically had some good experience with these drivers as well. I've been reading 1.5 a lot lately so I just wanted to check. I should have known Ray had some testing done with these... Now in 2.2ft^3 a piece, you don't think I would have to worry about unloading after all rise on 20in^2 of port? I'll throw out there that i'll be buying one of the DC 5k's from the Jeep, to get which amplifier that I am running out there. I have been hearing 1.5, and since I started this thread I have now seen 2 and 2.2, not to mention now 20in^2 of port per ft^3. lol Just wanting to make sure I read that right. (88in^2 port area/ 4.4 ft^3 net volume = 20 in^2/ ft^3) My 15" XL loved to unload on my Crescendo while seeing 3.5ft^3 and 17in^2 of port. But I shrunk the box down to around 3.1 and still think 3 would work better, along with the 6" aero, and I can handle down to 28-29 before I have to watch the knob on drops. COMPLETELY different situation almost, but this port area and net volume figure is surprising me. ....................................... What I am thinking about is make an interchangeable port build exactly to suggested specs and then making one with 16in^2 and possibly another with 14^2, then covering the entire face with a carpeted beauty panel to hide the t-nuts and bolts.... Hmmm... Better than saving up a few weeks and going through another box build. I've been debating on making a 28Hz port too, but we'll see. The tuning I am going to put my main focus on will be 32Hz.
  19. Haha you don't think I can handle running more than the rms rating of the sub man? I think i'll be okay. I've been running around 2X the rms on my 15" XL for over a year now with no problems. The 12"s would ONLY be seeing around 2500wrms anyways. lol And I appreciate the box offer! But I think i'll be just fine. I enjoy running the numbers and figuring out exactly what I need to do/ can fit into my trunk. I'm just checking to make sure that my idea on 3 ft^3 will work out. It has been what I've seen on SA12 and Lvl 4 builds here and there on similar power, so i'm hoping this can give me somewhat of a guide.
