  2. Another thing to keep in mind while doing these tests is the life of the battery. The only batteries that you will test that will be able to sustain that performance over seasons of competition use will be Odyssey, Stinger, and XS Power. This is one reason that when people say this battery costs less and will perform close to the same really doesn't hold water, because it will have to be replaced at least twice as often to maintain that performance. If you replace it at least twice as much then you end up paying more in the long run. Glad to see people doing some testing.
  3. Any form of heat deflector like that will work good for you. It keeps the heat from soaking the battery, which can lead to the battery swelling. With the temperatures that most have had this year this is just another good way to take care of your battery. If you will notice on most vehicles today the OEMs are starting to use AGM batteries under the hood. With that they are putting the batteries in a plastic case that surrounds the battery and helps deflect the heat away from the battery. Flooded batteries will suffer from heat much less than sealed batteries just because of the internal construction. You can always add water and electrolyte to a flooded battery, but you can't do that to a sealed battery.
  4. Thanks for passing it along. Actually it is all about the instantaneous power. The CA on that battery is only 550. Just goes to show you that the CA and CCA tests are very outdated and really do not play a big role in todays use.

  6. Seriously? We did a load test and it failed, yet the forums aren’t flooded with people saying their XP3000 didn’t do as said? AudioSavings sold over 200 XP3000s in approximately a month to forum members and I haven’t see any complaints on performance on the forums. If the XP3000 failed its load tests do you think we would be shipping them out? Accusing us of misleading our customers is a very big statement. What other company took out time to do a load test? Juicebox is the only one I have seen and you see where that ended up for them. They aren't even around any more, because everything was based on false information.
  7. If you are going to be competing then go with the D3100 for the instantaneous power advantage. If you are going to be building a bank and using it for daily use, then I would suggest the XP3000. The voltage drop really depends on the amount of current you are pulling out of the batteries. If you are pulling 100amps out of them, then they will be pretty much the same. If you are pulling 500amps out of them, then the instant 500amp draw will drop the XP down more but at the end of a 30 second run they will be within a few tenths of a volt.
  8. Yeah you shouldn't run into any issue with starting. Actually you could just not have a battery under the hood at all if you wanted. Just run everything off of the bank in the back.
  9. The S and D series 12V batteries are the same exact battery, case, and performance. S version has red decals and comes with automotive posts. Usually the S version is about $10 more. D version has blue decals and doesn't come with terminals. A set of terminals usually runs about $10. The S series in the 14v and 16V batteries are the light weight version and the D series along with the XP1000 is the heavier version. XP 12V should never be used under the hood.
  10. This post should really be in the electrical section, but oh well. Out of the three you have listed Stinger by far. Never understood why people get a system that is going to demand power, and then as an after thought they start to look at the electrical system. Fastest way to burn your investment is by under powering it. You will need a minimum of 1 battery under the hood (hopefully at D or S3400 size) and then 4 D3100 in the back. This is for daily use. If you are going to compete then you will need at least 2 D3100 per amp.
  11. 975 will have more power when your amp is demanding it. They will actually be pretty close on reserve capacity even though the 1200 is a larger battery. Instead of the 975 I would suggest the 925 or if you are not going to be competing I would go with the XP950. How much does the car get driven on the street? To answer your original question. Guessing your yellow top is a group 34 and the red top is a group 34 as well. You are adding a lot of unnecessary weight to the car for that system. If you race it a lot and take the system out when you race, then moving the secondary batteries out of the car will be a pain. You could run that system for daily use off of one S3400 or go with the 14V. If you are going to compete then you would need more battery power, but for daily use 3 batteries is a lot of weight compared to the performance you are going to see.

  13. A D3400 will handle 1600 watts for daily use. Big3 upgrade and a good alt will increase the performance.

  16. No I haven't had time. A XP3000 on the same 500amp load test will be in the 10.3-10.5V range.
  17. The D5100R is the drop in replacement for the stock battery. If you want to go smaller you could run the 1200, 975, or the 925. The 680 would work (like caprice has above) would be the smallest I would go with. The 925 would probably be the best option if you are trying to go smaller.

  19. You can do that. I myself would take both batteries to the local auto parts store and have them test them for you. Make sure both batteries are fully charged prior to them testing them. If both batteries are good you could use both of them. Getting them tested would be my first step.

  21. No we do not have one. Graphs like that don't really show you anything for car audio applications. They are kind of like AH ratings. They aren't very important. If you tell me the amperage load you are going to be pulling on a 3100 and for how long I can tell you how long it should take to hit 10.5V though. Just like in this video where with a 500 amp load for 30 seconds the D3100 is still in the 10.8V range.
  22. I was afraid you were going to have some issue when you made your other post and I saw the picture. That 925 is old. Like at the minimum of 5 years old, so it is not going to perform like a new battery. Also you have a lot less capacity in the 925 than you did the stock battery. The 925 is much smaller and has less lead in it, which means it will have a lower capacity. This is one reason you will see the voltage drop like that.
