Yo guys. I have a 1998 Ford Expedition with the 4.6 Triton V8. The same motor that are in Crown Vics and shit, only with a different intake manifold. I'm basically looking to get some more horsepower because right now, this thing is a pooch. It's always in and out of overdrive and honestly the gas mileage straight up sucks. I never get more than 8 anywhere. So in an attempt to get better gas mileage and a little more jolt behind it, I'm looking at ways to upgrade this thing. Any ideas? I was thinking a chip and tune but I really don't know how much of a difference that will make.

tinted blazers look awesome. what I do like about minnesota is that SUV's can be blacked out so dark except the front windows, unlike cars where you'll get railed for tint if your lower than 50% all around.

Went 35% in the front and 35% over the factory tint in the back. Still illegal up front thanks to Minnesota tint laws, but doesn't look as dark as you think. I like the looks of it.

If I remember correctly on that bodystyle Chevy/GMC truck, that plastic plate around the air bag comes out, revealing bolts to the air bag mechanism. Open the glove box and see if there are any 7mm bolts in there that can be taken out.

I will be 18 on the 28th of this month. I am planning on saving up some cash and finding an apartment with some buddies at the end of the summer. Not going to go to college and if I do it will be for the mechanics program at the technical college here. Get a second job over the summer and build up some payroll. I recently brought up to my parents about thinking about moving out and they both shed a tear, but they know its my choice. I might stick around for a tad bit longer and see what happens.

My system is now fully-operational and pounding hard. Bad RCA's were the culprit. Just like I had imagined all along. I wanted to thank everyone for their replies and advice, I actually learned a lot by reading the replies in this topic and didn't think I would have as many people trying to help as I did. I'll try to get box dimensions today. I had a thought that bad RCA's might have been my problem, so I bought some Scoscheeeeee's yesterday at WalMart just to see if they did the trick. Haven't tried those yet. Eric - As for the shitty ground, I cleaned up the area of the seat bolt which is where I've used my grounds several times in the past. It's bare metal and looks shiny. And I would have "taken the fucking time" to get a ring terminal but since yesterday was Sunday, no shops besides WalMart were open. And Walmart just had ring terminals for some 10awg wiring. bealstar - no, what I meant was: The guy who was running the Type R's off of this Fusion amp had his Type R's at 1 ohm. My CVX's are wired at 2ohms. This amp on those Type R's beat the shit out of his car, which is why I bought the amp because I've seen what it can do.

I switched the +/- poles on the amp and from what I can tell, no difference. can't turn it up too loud in my neighborhood though. the box is pretty decent size but I've heard these subs countless times before I bought them so I really don't think it's the subs that are making the impact right now. It's a best buy dual 12" ported box I believe. I'll get back to you tomorrow when I have some free time man, it's late.

I re-did the ground with a shorter piece of 4awg with a ring terminal and no change. still same issue. I checked the ohm rating coming out of the subs and both sets of wires said 3.0 ohms??? That doesn't sound right..

I will post back tomorrow to let you guys know if that's still the issue. and I grounded the ground to the actual bolt that hold the back seat in place, not seat belt. As for the box wiring: There are 2 sets of +/- wires coming out of the box. 4 wires total. I always thought if it was wired to 2 ohms that it would only have 1 set of wires coming out but I may be mistaken. My last subs I wired to 2 ohms and that's how I had em.

Subs are wired perfect to 2 ohms in the box. I know the kid who had the amp before me had his subs at 1 ohm, but come on my subs should STILL be bumping harder. It's very strange. and what do you mean by Hi/Lo outputs? My Head unit is a JVC KD-S100. I have seperate RCA Subwoofer outputs and more different RCA inputs for A/V shit. Oh, and tomorrow, I'm adding a second battery with a Stinger isolator.

Here's the deal.. I bought 2 12" Kicker CVXs with a box from my buddy. Subs were tested and bump hard. I also bought just a temporary Fusion 2000watt mono amp until I can buy my Hifonics Brutus. I am running 0awg for Power/Ground and for some reason... This doesn't bump AT ALL!!! The subs move, but move sloppy.. No air is really coming out of the port and the sound quality is just shit. Hardly hits any notes at all. Sometimes when you turn it up it seems like the subs turn themselves down, but the amp never goes into protect mode. I was thinking it was the amp, but I'm not sold because it just came out of my friend's system running 2 12" Type-Rs and this amp rocked those subs! The whole reason I even bought the amp was because I have seen it bump subs! I ran out of ring terminals so my ground is bare wire connected to a seat bolt in the back of my Expedition, so I was thinking it might have a bad ground. I also thought it might have been the used RCA's I got with this wiring. They are nicer gold-plated RCA's, but wasn't sure. Any ideas at all? Took a multimeter to everything, RCA's tested fine, ground was re done but still no terminal(until tomorrow when shops are open) so I'm stumped. I'm guessing it's the crappy amp but like I said, it was just temporary. Buddy won't buy it back from me now.
