Mike Malarky, I'm actually impressed with the offensive calling this year. I always think its best to go for it on 4th and short and they get it about 70% of the time. Are you stuck on 18's just because the box is already built? Just figured if you were going for SQ and not SPL you could go with 12's with less power and less air space and save money in the long run. Put the extra money into the SQ side of the build.

Go to the amplifier section and read the sticky about setting gains. Thats where I would start.

Sounds to me like the gain is way to high. Have you checked the output with a multi meter?

If its double walled like you said there shouldnt be a problem with it. It might make for a badass video if it explodes when the L7's start hitting! lol Might be a good Idea to use a paint type sealer on it to add to the durability something can be found at lowes in the paint section Im sure.

I would get 3/4 inch MDF and start over. However it would be fun to try out the particle board and see how it sounds. You might be completely happy with it. What subs are you putting in it?

What size power and ground wire are you running?

If thats the case then you have no choice. You might want to do what the other guy said and put some spacers between the amp and the box. Maybe some rubber spacers to absorb some of the vibrations.
