Yes two twelves will be much more louder on the same amp but it should not be much of a cost in upgrade since type r dont go for that much, assuming you will get more than 200 for your aq since its worth about 220 shipped.

For sure Alpines although you could go two sdc2.5 12 and beat the type r by a little with the same amp assuming a 38hz box.

If i get the 2 hdc 15 and run just a 2500 rms amp for the pair, will i be better off getting subs that are rated for less since the aq can take like 2000 each like nothing, efficient wise? Loke if i were to get subs that are rated for 1000-1500 rms and get my 2500 amp will it sound louder and cleaner, than say getting the pair of hdc and underpowering them with a 2500 rms amp.

What can those level 4 handle each daily since when i bump i play or a long time at full tilt. (gains set right) Also what difference will i see in the same setup for a pair of hdc on 2500 rms total, and same amp on a pair of level 4? Which subs play louder on the same wattage, in other words, which are more efficient?

I currently have a pair of AQ SDC2.5 15 subs on 1200 rms in my very own 8.5 cube ported built box. Since i am now getting a little used to the loudness i currently have, i was thinking that i might upgrade to more power by the summer. Question is, since my future amp will be either a 2500-3000rms 1 ohm amp, Which pair of 15 subs will be the loudest and if possible cleanest i can get in the 250-300 per sub range. I do not do competitions as this will be only for Daily Driving and i listen to half rap half spanish music where an epicenter is required. Also some rock. Vehicle is a 2007 yukon.

This is only my opinion and im sure others will disagree, but go ahead and pound them out of the box but of course do not clip them or overpower them which is a thing you should never do anyways regardless if they are not broken in or not. I tell you this because i do not believe in 'breaking in a sub' since i bought brand new subs plenty of times before and pounded them out of the box, and all that happens was over time they got louder and played lower which is to say 'broke in' Search around 'break in subs' threads for all the back and forth on the subject.

Plus that solar equipment i heard costs over thousands of dollars, better just to get a ho alt which is expensive too but not like solar panels.

Tell me about it, looking back when i started and was telling myself 'i only want a couple of subs to hear the sub bass notes but nothing shattering' i laugh because instead of going big from the start, i took those baby steps wasting money and tried many different brands and in the end came up with 'More power and More cone area please' Even with my system now and i already know i want to double the power but good thing about it is theres craiglist and forums like these where i can resell my stuff and get at least most of my money back, so its not a complete loss just need to get to 150 posts, lol.

The box does not have to be drastically bigger at all but like all of us find out, when you get used to the sound of the sub at 1500 watts and you know it will take almost twice that, you will upgrade eventually. What is good about that though, is that your kicker 1500 has tremendous resale value and you might be able to get something like an audiopipe 3000d for your kicker amp and maybe a few bucks more on your side. Depending on the coils you get of course but theres the audiopipe aqx 1 ohm amp for around the same price as well.

That will be good enough but trust me, you will want to upgrade that amp to a 2500 rms or higher since this sub will take that without getting warm. However, this is good enough but just build your box on the bigger side of the recommended specs so it could do more with that power but you will be ok.

And im the one trying to answer the question while i missed all the fun... And if you listen to rap with that kind of power (which is not a lot considering these can take that audioque 3500 watt amp with ease, make your box 8.4-8.7 cubes tuned to 38 hz. Even with that tuning, audioques play in to the mid upper 20hz's and up very loudly.

I have the audioques and heard them in different tunings. The best way to answer your question is stating what type of music you listen mostly, and if you can what kind of power will you be feeding it.

Yeah i only been in car audio for a year and now hooked, but i definately always double check almost everthing with the forum to get the best possible advice that all are using. Sometimes its something small but sometimes a little more complicated. Ive already done 2 ported boxes and hoping this one gives me the best results got the design from a smd forum member. Thanks for the post and yeah i realize im making a little too much out of it, but hey i look at it like someone else is going to think about it, and they can just look at this topic. I think im going to route of the wing nut bolt since if i ever sell the box, people will not be too confused on the small holes.

Did you ever worry about a short with the bolt exposed? Or is just a matter of making sure the box is rarely moved because mine will have to be moved sometimes when i need the cargo area and then put back.

This is exactly what i was going to do but then i got all thinking about it so i had to ask. The holes i was going to do were going to be exactly like the subs wire to where i would have to pull the wire through it so hard that i thought it will be sealed. Like it was literally going to have to take a lot of strength just to pull the wire to the other side. Any thoughts i am a little concern that it might not be 100 percent sealed but maybe 90 percent at worst, is this something that will act as another port?

What do you do to protect it from a short if those bolts touch metal?

One last thing since i would have the bolts exposed as terminals i am worried that there might be a short. Does anyone know what i can do to cover the bolt terminals to prevent this.

So the bolts on my picture are ok along with 2 lock washers and nut to tighten it right? sorry if im not getting it.

What i was thinking but also those stainless steel bolts, do i get the regular type like this with a nut and washer: or the all thread ones?

I just got done with my box for my two Fifteen Aq sdc and was wondering what should i do about the sub wiring. I have an old terminal cup with the positive and negatives on it but i was wondering what does everybody else use and whats the best one. I was thinking of just drilling two small holes just enough for my postive and negative wire coming from my subs wired to 1 ohms. I would then just silicon the spot where the two wires are coming from then just connect them to my amp. I need to know whats the best and least resistant method where im getting the best connection. Does anybody use like a all thread type of bolt and just ring terminal it on each side, and if so what kind of bolt is it, copper or does it matter. Thanks.

I have had both a 2 12 kicker l7 setup and a 3 kicker 12 cvr setup and if you are running 3000 watts rms i would definitely not recommend either unless you perfectly tune the amp and even then i dont see it lasting too long, but if you must 4 cvr will be louder given that both are in their proper box. Trust me kicker cvr the 12 inch version not the 15, does not like much more than their rated power of 400, in ported even less than 400. For 3000 rms get either 3 or 4 12 inch l7, 3 or 4 audioque sdc2.5 twelves or fifteens, or even 2 audioque hdc twelves or fifteens.
