the original design of this box was with the subs forward, port to the driver side... so today I flipped it forward to try it out... OUCH... Burp score. STREETSLAM score... 30 second MUSIC average with sensor in the kick and in the dash. both driver windows have to be down.

Nick's ho is nasty loud. for real. when Nick pulls up for StreetSlam everyone knows it's getting ready to get intense.

it's a tad louder than the two 15"... but at a lower freq. 44, 45 and 46 instead of 48, 49, 50. the lows get pretty mean... I might rebuild and tune a bit lower at a later date... but for now. I'm happy just need to get some power to the amp now. Stock battery and 200 amp Excessive Amperage alt is doin all the work at this point. lol just got to get the right battery...

UPDATE... ok... so I now had four sa12 in my hands... what could I do with them... hmmm... I know...

actually its a higher tuned enclosure. This type of enclosure will be mainly for getting every last drop of output from the subwoofer as possible in your car. The enclosures are not built to any type of manufacturer suggested enclosure at all. when this enclosure rests in the vehicle it will be with subs facing forward and the ports facing the trunk itself. This is for a Honda Civic Hatchback. It will have two 12" and around 4000 watts on it. he's shooting for a 150.0dB

then with my bottle of Gorilla WOOD glue in hand... drill, countersink and some screws and a corner brace I slapped it all together to look like this...

my friend Matt needed a box to put out a bit of noise in his lil civic... so we are going to test this puppy out. the ports are just taped at the moment (not glued or sealed into the box) for testing purposes. Some tuning may be required still so the glue process will be later. here ya go... panels cut using a circle jig and router the holes for the subs and ports were cut out to the correct size... then both were rounded over (inside for subs and outside for ports) ports... subs...

How exactly can $200 get you over 151? ive seen a few people use SINGLE sa subs 8s 10s 12s 15s and do over 150 on straight burps.. Yea. We did a 158 with one sa15"

It might be a TDH heavy show. A lot of my guys/gals have to work bc of what is considered a "holiday weekend" it's bs but a Job is a job. I'm still lOoking forward to a lot of fun. TDH has some loud ass rides so get your butts here and lets all have some fun!!!

Jacob, they might be one of the best subs in this price range in the history of mankind. I know they are without a doubt the best I've tested in this price range. Note: The Ascendant Audio Arsenal series sub is another great sub in this price range.

Though some may ASSUME that this is a comparison test... it really isn't meant to be. I have had two DD 3515 in the Dodge for a few months now. They are seriously great subs. I love them and have no plans on letting them go anywhere. However... with all of the great testing results...as well as superior support that Jacob, Jimmy, Brandon and the crew at Sundown Audio have shown me since I showed interest in the company, I grabbed my credit card and now have found myself with a pair of Sundown Audio sa15 15" subwoofers to play with. (Thank you Jacob) I have to say... I honestly don't care too much about numbers from this build. It was meant to beat you to death with a small amount of power. The amplifier I'm currently running is a DDm3a rated at 2050 watts at 1 ohm. I have a stock battery under the hood and an upgraded alternator from Excessive Amperage. (Electrical upgrades are planned soon with some nice batts)... Listening... the DD subs have a very serious pounding sensation to them that drills in deep and never quits from the beginning to the end of just about any song. The best number I ever scored with this setup was a 151.9dB in the kick NSPL hardcore style, and a 149.5dB sealed on the dash (legal style)... at the headrest (MECA style) a 150.0dB... Now the Sundown sa15 subs landed in the truck. There was no need to re-adjust gains on the amplifier as the amplifier had been properly set with the wonderful SMD DD1 Distortion Detector. I hooked them up and went right to the meter. Fresh out of the box these subs were going to get a beating. I was impressed that they cranked out a crazy 151.4dB (.5dB away from the highest score with the DD subs) with the same power. Of course I realize the sa15" are getting very close to their rated power and the DD's rated at 1200 each are underpowered... still impressive. The numbers the Sundown put down are great numbers. but...please keep this in mind with a 16k on those 3500 DD 15" subs they cranked out over 156dB. The Sundown subs immediately after metering went through a 45 minute music tri-athalon... Rock, Country, Rap, and even some Bass Mechanik, Psyph Morrison, DECAF, and some DJ Slow N Throw... I beat them to death... only one song I picked played below a 150dB and it was the "axel f" song from beverly hills cop and it still did a 149.4! REALLY!!! And the subs never even got warm! So at one point I got so excited that I cranked it up a bit too much past the clipping point (volume on deck) just to get some distortion to them and try to heat them up. Jacob, how you did it I will never know... but I knew when it was time to turn them down as I could smell a hint of Garlic. Yea Garlic... and I had two others confirm my scent diagnosis. hahaha... So I grabbed the meter with the subs still a bit hot from the hell I just gave them to see how they would still stack up when pushed to the edge of abuse for competition... SAME SCORE a 151.4dB! I have to say that for value, performance, and durability the Sundown sa15 15" subwoofers are the best sub I've ever punished. KUDOS to Sundown.

I'm so in love with the sa8's... my girl Katie wants to do two or even four 8's in her s10 i'm thinking four. lol did you see our thread on Ricks' Explorer? two sa8" in an explorer and pulled a 150.7dB on a Sundown 3500 with stock electrical. hahahaha edit: if you want me to test them out for ya... those four sa8 v2 you tested in the rex... you can send em up and i'll do a monster low end box for katie's s10. she's still running that sa8 v1.99 lol AND LOVES THAT SUB.

I get asked this all the time... Honestly I'd love to share all my secrets with you... however that is how I make a living. lol I will give a few hints... well... one. probably the biggest hint I can give you. I've only told this to one other person (not saying others may not have figured this out) and that is Ed Hobby from TDH. My number one rule on all of my enclosures is simple and you can check all of them and find this true. if you measure from the "face" of the enclosure to the opposite loading wall (back panel, ceiling, windshield, etc) and measure from the "face" of the enclosure to the inside back wall of the port... they should be the same. (or very very very close) (obviously this doesn't apply to some BP enclosures)

the stronger the better...
