*sigh* Time to break open my last box of Girl Scout Cookies. -
really need a relay?
Reallunacy replied to badfish's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
He's getting diode from the fact that relays can let some high voltage slip in when they switch, so for certain applications you should use a diode to prevent it. As far as a diagram, I think there is one in a pinned thread here in this section. -
I agree the party is looking pretty crappy these days, but I didn't like the idea then or now. Taking money from people who earned it to pay for someone else is against the ideals of this country. If they had gone and found a way to work with the AMA to limit insurance prices or some kind of tort reform I would have supported it. The reason insurance prices are like they are is for a while suing a doctor for any mistake was the norm. Every time it happened insurance prices for the doctors went up, doctors raised their prices to compensate, we had to pay more so our insurance charged more. It is a viscous cycle. Don't get me wrong, suing for gross negligence is fine by me, but the numbers that were coming out of these suits were ridiculous. It is the exact same issue with auto insurance we have right now. except states already mandated auto insurance yet didn't regulate rates. I would prefer if they didn't require them, but since they do, they should also regulate rates. As a 20 year old with a clean driving history I pay over $200 a month for full coverage on a 2002 Intrepid V6 2.7L. Mildly ridiculous if you ask me.

You could check with a few of the bike dealerships near you about training courses. I know here near me there is a Harley/Buell dealership that offers a training course that if you pass counts as your test to get your license. They also offer a small discount on 1 or 2 of their beginners models after the course. Personally I would take the course to see if you like riding, then go buy a used bike. Here is the course near me: http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Get_On_A_Bike/Learn_To_Ride/new_rider_course.jsp?locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US

This guy is a great seller. He shipped my package later the day I paid him. His packaging was awesome and had 0 shipping damage. All of that and great prices make him someone I will buy from again.

Reallunacy replied to Reallunacy's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Ok, removed it. and seems to have power going through just fine now, though I haven't cranked it. So is there not supposed to be a ground from the alt? In this thread no one corrected me. I'm glad you caught it though. -
Urgent - Need wiring help
Reallunacy replied to Reallunacy's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
...yes, i didn't see another place to connect it. where is it supposed to go? -
Ok, I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. I went to do the big three and found out that my battery was under the air intake and even with that removed the negative terminal was unaccessible. So I decided to move it to the trunk. When I tried to connect the final wire to the battery it sparked a LOT. I decided to put a fuse in but when I did it blew the fuse. I wasn't sure what to do so I closed all the doors and anything I knew that may draw current and tried a second fuse but it blew as well. (Big three are 1/0 and fuses were 250 amp) Here is the Diagram of what I did. Black lines are negative, red are positive and yellow dot is fuse. The numbers correspond to the following pictures. Photos may be bad since it is now after 1am: 1. This is the jump start point the factory added. I ran a 1/0 wire from the alt to this point: 2. This is the ground I am using up front, it is the strut tower and wasn't used as factory. I sanded it down before connecting the 1/0 wire from the alternator and the engine block: 3. This is the alternator. I connected the factory wiring in photo 1, the ground in photo 2 and the battery's positive terminal in photo 5 using 1/0 wire: 4. This is the engine block. It is connected to the front ground in photo 2 using 1/0 wire: 5. This is the battery. It is connected to the alternator in photo 3 and the rear ground in photo 6 using 1/0 wire: 6. This is the rear ground point and is connected to the battery in photo 5 using 1/0 wire: 7. This is currently my only fuse I have installed and it is in between the alternator in photo 3 and battery in photo 6: This is the original battery location and the reason I decided to make my life hell by moving it to the back. That vented panel leads to the front tire and has to be removed to remove battery and access negative terminal: Any help you can give me is much appreciated. I need to be driving by 5 tomorrow and have only 1 fuse left.

UPS sucks again
Reallunacy replied to alphasig293's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
For anyone who doesn't know, pay the extra few dollars and require a signature, also if your employer doesn't mind shipping to a business is normally safer. Even with that, you never know if it'll get there safely, can't tell you how often I've seen boxes come off the truck with the fedex/ups guys boot print on it. -
Flash Drive

Can I veto the Sharpie idea? People always hack my Sharpies, I can only think how bad it would be if a flash drive looks like one. lol -

Not exactly good for school but I wouldn't mind a flash drive as a decent pocket knife. I always carry mine so.....
