  1. It is birch plywood, which is stronger and lighter than MDF. Anyone will tell you that birch is better than MDF, I don't care if it's 7 ply, 9 ply, or 13 ply. You will be good.
  2. Well, the time has come for the new build in my Avalanche. I will get some pics up later on, but here is a rundown of whatis going in the truck. 2002 Chevy Avalanche, Sunset Orange Metallic on 24's JVC Headunit front stage is 8 Crescendo CTS-1 tweeters in the A pillars, made by Epicenter Designs and 8 Selenium 6wp4 in the front doors done by Epicenter Designs Tweeter amp is a Crescendo Audio 1000c4 Mids amp is a Crescendo Audio 1600.2 Processing will be done by a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 Subs are 2 RE Audio MT 15 inch subs, dual 1.4 ohm coils. These will be fed by a SounDigital SD16kd, at 5.6 ohms daily, and 1.4 for competitions. Box will be a ported enclosure tuned to 30-31 Hz dailt, and 45 Hz for comps. Box is birch made, with port plug, and about 9 cubes after displacements. Electrical is Shok wiring, with RCA's and a DC Power 270xp dual alt kit charging 4(soon to be 10) RPS 110 Ah batts. Subs will be reconed sooned with DC Level 5 recones, until the new Level 5's come out, and will be switching to them then. Goal is a 150 on music, and major hair tricks. Any comments, suggestions, recommendations, are appreciated. Can't wait to get my panels back from Epicenter and get this tine done!
  3. 2 level 5 15's with options to handle a SD16kd in a small ported box to 29445, please.
  4. you mean like this? sorry, my silver sharpie pen isnt very sharp - ran out of room writing your name haha... You are the MAN, Steve! Appreciate bro!
  5. I was watching the news on the ship, we were in the ship yards. Myself and about 20 other security guys had to arm up with M-16s and 9mm's and patrol topside. I walked and watched, and waited for anything, something else to happen, not knowing where or when it could come. We stood that watch for 36 straight hours, until we were to exhausted to carry our rifles, and the threat diminished some. That day will forever be burned into my brain, and that's why I still do this job.
  6. Yeah, port area is killing my cubic feet. How deep should I make the box, for 2 15's, and still keep 30hz, and 8 cubes after sub/port displacement?
  7. My box is: 19" tall 49" wide 20" deep My port opening is: 17.5" tall 6" wide I am trying to tune to 30hz, but cant figure out the proper port length, this port is in between the subs, so it will bend both ways at the back of the box. Someone please help!
  8. Mine should be here soon too, shipped on the 15th, I can not wait! :-)
  9. Thought I had a good deal on a used one, but the seller backed out after I sent the money, because his kids had messed it up. Got refunded, but still needing one ASAP. PM me if you got one for sale.
  10. Can any of the DC dealers PM me a price of the 175.4? I am shopping for a new 4 channel.
  11. I know there is plenty of room IN the truck, but there is NO room in the door boot to run that many wires. I can get a couple in there, but NO WAY is 16 wires fitting through there if the crossover is in the truck.
  12. Why not with the Crescendo's I have heard good things about them.
  13. I am trying to step my game up some in my Avalanche, and upgrade my front stage to keep up with the SD8k I am running for the low end. My original plan was to put 2 Powerbass 4xl 6.5's and 2 pairs of Crescendo 6.5 component sets in each front door. Doing this would I would only have to mount 2 crossovers in each door. But some people have been recommending on just using 4 sets of the Crescendo's, but if I do, I do not how I would go about mounting 4 crossovers in each door. Mounting them in the truck isn't a practical solution, as trying to run that many speaker wires through the boot into the door is going to be impossible. My question to all the experts on here, with multiple sets of components in the doors, how do you all go about fitting in that many crossovers?
  14. Total mayhem, what all is that in your pods? And did you make them yourself, or did you order them from customspeakerpods.com? I drive an Avalanche and was thinking of doing something along these lines.
  15. It isn't belt slip, but it could be my yellow top battery. I have new batteries being delivered tomorrow, so I will update this after I install them, but thanks Kyle for replying so quickly. I will also double check my connections on the big three tomorrow as well.
  16. I installed my DC 260sp alt along with my stock alt the other day, and checked voltages. Prior to install, stock alternator only- 14.1 at battery car idling with no stereo, no A/C 13.8-13.9 at voltmeter in cab of truck with no stereo, no A/C After install, stock alt and DC Power alt- 14.1 at battery car idling with no stereo, no A/C 13.7-13.9 at voltmeter in cab of truck with no stereo, no A/C I checked the voltage coming out of each alternator, and the stock one is charging at 14.20 volts, the DC Power is charging at 14.07 volts. I am not bashing DC, I am just making sure that everything is kosher. The harness was pretty simple with the instructions from Kyle, the plug, a wire for ground, and a wire for switched power. I just wanted some help from you all, as most of you guys who have used DC alts, always talk about having voltages up to almost 15+, I kind of expected this as well. It does help some with a load on, but kind of expected to see a bigger difference. Maybe the relay could be bad or something?
