  1. I can almost guarantee you it's your ignition switch. I have a 2001 and a 2002 Impala LS's. Both had this issue. Thought it was BCM, but before we went that route we changed the ignition switch and it cured all the problems we were having.
  2. I had this thing my mom got me from Wally world a couple years ago where a little module plugged into your outlet, also had a nightlight but it had a wireless "wall switch" which you could keep right next to you, or even in another room that would allow you to turn that particular outlet and anything plugged into it on and off.
  3. I saw my first ISF yesterday evening when I was sitting in traffic coming home from getting my car inspected. I was just sitting there and he drove by in the other lane; that car is beautiful. His wasn't nearly as clean as Steve's though. Still a nice as hell car
  4. What've you got against DDM? I've had my three kits for over a year without a problem. Still going strong.
  5. I'd use the Switched 12V+ Yellow/Red Connection. That wire turns on your head unit when you turn the key, and if you tap into that..it will turn on your amps as well. Someone correct me if that's wrong..but that's what I'd do.
  6. You are wasting "wattage" when you run at lower resistance. Your amp isn't as efficient, that means you need WAY more power from the source to produce your "wattage" Example with random numbers. Amp needs 10 amps from alternator to make 100 watts at 4 ohm Amp needs 100 amps from alternator to make 100 watts at 1 ohm, the rest is heat, in the wire, in the alternator. It's like a teenager running at 10 miles an hour vs. a senior citizen running at 10 miles an hour. The teenager can do it for days. he senior citizen is long dead by now. Think of your poor alternator 100 amps to make 100 watts at 1ohm? I think your math is off. based on that math, i am drawing 1500 amps in my set up. (sorry, i see the random numbers comment now) You are right, efficiency is lower at lower resistances, but it isn't nearly as much as you think it is. If you can't support 3k watts @ 1ohm, you very likely can't support 3k watts @ 4ohms. I just think it will help out running at 4 ohm because I am powering other things in the car, 30+ speakers and 17 T.Vs 17 T.V's? That's a bit overkill imo.
  7. Those things are getting down! My next subs will be sundown for sure!
  8. Cool. I didn't have the time to stop there after work but it sounds better than ever now and I am very pleased with the outcome and that it was a free fix! Appreciate all the help guys..I know I can always get help on here.
  9. Welp, put the headunit in with the grounded RCAs and the problem is now completely gone! Also seems to help the little bit of fuzzy sound I had before this all happened! Thanks for your help guys, I REALLY appreciate it. Looks like I have to go back to bestbuy and return those RCAs. Again, thanks a ton!
  10. Yeah I know, I've been doing some reading up on them. I'm just trying to fix this back to the way it was....playable.
  11. I have my headunit in my bedroom right now, I performed the RCA Grounding "fix" and will check it out tomorrow morning when I wake up. Can't do it now, my parents room is right next to the garage, and my car is in the garage. Good stuff man. As I said above, I did the "fix" but even if it does fix it, I'm going to stop at my radioshack after work and pick up two of the ground loop isolators. Thanks for your input guys!
  12. Alright, well I'm doing the RCA ground thing right now, so I'm really hoping this works.
  13. Alright, well if this doesn't fix it, or even if it does fix it i'll still pick em up. Can't have clean enough signal right?
  14. I'm looking for the cheapest and quickest fix right now. I have a lot of things planned the next couple days and this is really a nuisance. but if this doesn't fix it I'll hit up sonic electronix or audiosavings and get some of the ground loop for rcas....
  15. I'm really hoping that's all it is. So, basically just strip some 12 or 10 gauge wire of the shielding and wrap it around all the RCAs? and then tighten the ends down to a bolt on the casing correct?
  16. I actually have one of those, I'll go try it right now and report back with what I find. brb EDIT: Just plugged my iPod using a 3.5mm to Male RCAs into both the mids/highs amp as well as the subwoofer amp and as expected, no noise at all. My last attempt is to not use the ground that the wiring harness is using and ground directly to the frame. I'm going to do that tomorrow morning before I head to work. ANY other input is greatly appreciated, this really sucks. I thought buying a $250 headunit the first time around would net me longer than 8 months of use...:/
