  1. Oh, and that crappy tiny speaker wire was just for a temp run to see how I liked the XL's lol I have Knu Konceptz 8 gauge for the actual install.
  2. Well, here are my two 10" XL's, they definitely don't look impressive compared to all the stuff you guys have lol Here is one of the XL's compared to one of the Rockford T1's I pulled out And one shot just showing how big the XL's motor is The XL's will be going in the 'Stang in a couple weeks when I'm home from college. They'll each have a T1500-1bd running them until I can save up to get two T2500-1bdCP's for them and actually give them the power they want. What can I say, I'm a poor engineering student in college lol I can't help it for now.
  3. Damn, that's a lot of pink lol I'm sure she likes it! Looks good man, and nice job getting a good color match between the box and dustcap!
  4. It shows, that car looks nice! Can't wait to see some pics of the system once it's in
  5. If that is 9 cu ft NET, then I think you're going way too big with that box... If it's gross, then it will just depend on how much of that you're gonna be eating up with your port... Edit: Double Ninja'd
  6. How much power does he have goin to those 10's?
  7. Congrats on that many sales! They are definitely some sexy amps!
  8. Hey, I just wanted to post up my experience with MechMan so anybody shopping for a new alt and ends up on this forum can see how I was treated. First off, what can I say, my stock alt shot craps about 6-7 months ago and I needed something fast. I was down to either DC Power or MechMan, and the MechMan was cheaper for the same amperage so i picked it up. I could NOT have been any happier. The 270 amp alt went in my 2006 Mustang GT, both a performance (nitrous, intake, etc, plus I race the thing) and audio (this summer, it will have to charge enough batts for my 6000+ watt system that I compete in MWSPL with) car, and has held up great! It arrived WAY faster than I thought it would, fit perfectly, has the oversized terminals for the Big 3 upgrade, and runs just like OEM. So to anybody looking through here for reviews, go with a MechMan and you won't be disappointed with the product, pricing, output, or customer service. I've ran it for 6-7 months through one of the worst winters I've ever driven the car in and I've had zero problems. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
  9. If you can build a proper sealed enclosure, you can definitely build a simple slot ported enclosure. It's really not that hard to do. So I say go ported, get all the output you can out of those 12's!
  10. Those are definitely some sexy amps, I love the simple, all black look...
  11. Damn, I really like that... I might be seeing if I can get the carbon fiber caps for my XL 10's now that I know I can get the DC logo on them lol. Anyways man, that is one SWEET build, I can't wait to see some vids of that!
  12. Holy shit man, that looks amazing! I love the dustcaps... Where'd you get the stickers for them made?
  13. Hey, don't knock the RF 8's, I use them in the doors of my 'stang they do great for midbass lol jp man lol, 4 DC 8's would be really badass, post up some pics if you decide to do it!
  14. Lol, I didn't call anybody stupid, damn man. I'm just saying, for 3.5kw, I would be doing a little more to my electrical than just one good battery up front and one H/O alt, my Mechman and my Kinetik under the hood was all I did for 2kw, I'm putting a few more batts in the back for only 4kw, and I'm sure I'll still see more voltage drop than I'd like. I was just saying, in most cases for that kind of power, they probably already have an axillary battery in the rear so that the run of wire would be short enough it wouldn't matter. There are exceptions to every case, like two batteries up front, but I was just speaking in generalities. I'd have like to see it have a second set of inputs too, but I can see why they deemed it unnecessary. Which could be part of the way they were able to keep costs down as much as they could and still deliver a great quality amp. Not trying to call people stupid, just saying my opinion. I'd rather have 1 H/O alt with auxillary batteries in the back by the amps than one good battery up front with multiple H/O alts. Why would u rather one back battery than multiple alts? Current when I need it. I use my car for music, and I need the instant draw from a battery and then a good H/O alt to charge that battery back up. Multiple alts would be nice, but for my power level, batteries are a better investment, I can get an instant pull from them that is charged by a good alt, rather than maxing out one batter for the split second and then having multiple alts charge it back up so I can max it out two seconds later on another long bass note.

  16. I would assume MOST people who run an amp as powerful as the AQ3500D would be smart enough to have an aux battery right by the amp. Which is why I don't see the DC amp having a problem with just one set of inputs. If somebody really does just try to run all of that off a single starting battery, they've got other issues to worry about than not getting all the power that they can out of their amp lol
  17. Lol my perspective as a senior in Mechanical Engineering is if you're so worried about an evenly distributed load with a tiny spacer like that only holding up 18-20 lbs, how the F**K do you think they are attaching motors to the Level 6's? If a bump in the road would destroy that basket, then everybody better hold their breath around an XL or anything heavier, otherwise it'll probably just crumble into dust lol.
  18. Slow but steady progress on the build...
