  1. Most of the refurbs tend to be in excellent shape - if you want to save a few dollars ask Chris about refurbs in less than excellent shape, he calls them "b-stock" units, and he will give you a discount vs. even the regular refurb price.
  2. The b-stock blemish is very minor... it is simply a flaw in the machining of the back plate. The b-stocks are new drivers, just with a cosmetic flaw. I was not happy with the ones that turned out that way since they are not 100% "a-stock" so they are being sold off as b-stock. The people that have gotten them so far pretty much say the same thing... that they don't really notice. But I did, hence b-stock
  3. Of particular interest: PM me about cosmetic defect Nightshades (B-Stock). B-Stock 12s = $350 shipped B-Stock 15s = $375 shipped The b-stock defect looks like this: Some of the motors were machined incorrectly and as I go through the drivers I am setting them to the side for this defect. PM me and I will let you know if I currently have any in the size / coil configuration that you want. These are in LIMITED supply - it is a purely cosmetic defect. I have this issue fixed for future production runs so after these are sold out, that'll be it for b-stocks. PM me and I'll let you know if I have any b-stock in the size / VC config you are looking for.
  4. Indeed, the 2000D is on the list for production... it will replace the SAZ-1500D in the SAZ line and the SAE line will be getting an amp in the ~1500 watt range (called SAE-1200D, but will produce about 1500 watts actual power). It's just a matter of time for it's release. It is a little bigger than the SAZ-1500D @ just a hair under 19.5 inches.
  5. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=10634 In case some of you guys weren't aware I sell Used, B-Stock, Refurbished Amps, and other misc items in that thread. Currently have quite a few things listed - Sundown Audio and some misc stuff.
  6. Pics with the little brother, the E8. MSRP will be around $150 - 160 on these when released.

    Not Good

Mick, Fan cooling is relatively common, although I'd say that the majority of car amps don't use them - I'm not a huge "fan" of fans since they tend to fail a car environment in my experience. Or, at the least, they are audible or get noisy over time if they weren't at first. Not always the case, but I've seen it quite often. Thanks for the compliment

    Not Good

Mike, People quite often abuse car amps more than other types of amps with improper settings and poor choices of installation locations - cars also tend to have a high ambient temperature in the summer as well as the potential for direct sunlight exposure. All of that is pretty obvious, just pointing it out It usually involves a combination of a few things: 1) Amp in direct sunlight in the summer and/or in a really hot trunk 2) Gain setting that is too high and/or bass boost that is too high 3) Running the amp below it's rated impedance Pretty common for folks in car audio to have the whole list going on at once! Of course, there are sometimes that it is just an inadequate thermal design - obviously more common on cheaper amps since aluminum is getting so expensive these days!
  9. Good job Powermaster - they make excellent products and other companies lying on their specs is BS!
  10. Also... lets talk about the 2-year discounted replacement warranty. What does this mean to you, the buyer? This is a $1200 amp on pre-order. It is NOT cheap. You have a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects that does NOT cover you below 1 ohm, does NOT cover you from abuse or mis-use. So, how are you protected? Simple... for 2 years, if you blow this amp up - and it IS your fault - you send it in to me and get it replaced with a brand new amp for a flat cost. For this model the flat cost is going to be $400 shipped back to you. Yep... that simple.
  11. I'll let SQ guys on the Team - just seems I don't get many of them applying! Dave Edwards is doing well, though
  12. Well... I suppose if the 5k list fails I could try a list for the 7k even though it lost in votes. If the customers demand it I'll try to do it!
  13. The 5k is still not a guarantee - only if people sign up for the list. Remember - this was at the request of Team members and customers - I would rather produce a 5-channel than a 5-7k amp!
  14. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=16799 5k amp wins... thread started to see if enough people want to sign up on the list.
  15. I believe he is referring the to Stetsom 8kd which has been discussed on Termpro.
  16. I don't see it paying off to offer two versions of the same amp, to be honest. Especially since if it was 1/2 ohm stable everyone would want to run it at 1/4 ohm The market seems to want a massive 5-7k amp, so we'll see how it goes. If this deal doesn't go through Sundown won't be making an amp bigger than the 3k in 2008. Simply responding to requests by giving those interested, if there are enough, the opportunity to make it happen.
