  1. Output transistors -- they are on the heat-sink next to the red output filters. They are rectangular black pieces with silver tie downs on them in the 3500D and spring clips in the DC and AQ.
  2. Total of four motors I believe... two subs are working two are not. They are slightly different from one another.
  3. * Count the output FETs... 12 pcs. This is the DC-3.5k * Counting continued... notice 16 pcs ? This is the SAZ-3500D The DC-3.5k is like the OLD AQ-3500D... which I tested compared to our 3500D some time ago. You can see many things that are not the same. So no; they are not twins: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/31133-saz-3500d-aq-3500d-side-by-side/
  4. D2 is together... specs are closing in on where I want to be -- based on what I got from this D2 I think the D1 coil should be correct out of the gate and that the D2 will be good with a tad bit of tweaking : D2 Revision 1 Coil Specs with 5-layer Z v.3 spider (Z v.3 uses 4 layers) : RE : 2.93 ohms (series) FS: 36.87 Hz QES: 0.329 QMS: 4.326 QTS: 0.306 LE: 6.53 mH (still a bit high but we'll work on the shorting rings on another prototype to get this down) VAS: 43.24 L BL: 28.128 NA MMS: 383 g CMS: 48.56 uM/N SENS: 89.93 dB 1w/1m BL^2/RE: 270 (goal is 300 or so for this driver... revised coil should do it) I'll do some beating on it soon... have tons of SA-8s to ship... took a short break to pull specs and post them.
  5. The D2 coils are in ! 12-layers of fury
  6. WoofersEtc.com - SAX-200.4D - Sundown Audio 800W 4-Channel Amplifier MAP was $815 on these - they are being sold at over 25% off that price now from WoofersEtc.com exclusively. Get em while they last
  7. the sd-10 will work in a 0.9-1 cf ported? and if i can make the 4 sa-8's work will 1.8-2.0 cf be enough for all of them in a common enclosure ? Yes it can work in that small. 1.8 to 2 cubes will work with four SA-8s ported, yes.
  8. Our videos should answer your question on power handling. The SA still handles more power of course... but these are very rugged.
  9. I put it on the Sundown Audio Facebook too ! Sundown fans should come through for her :drink40:
  10. The SA-8 shipment is due Wednesday roughly. Disclaimer... PLEASE DO NOT e-mail me or post asking about your specific order ship-date. We will e-mail tracking to you or your dealer through the automated system; all orders will go out in the order they were received and as quickly as we possibly can. I expect that it will take into next week to get them all out.
  11. IIRC they have also ran Ground Zero products in the other car.
  12. It's all 1/0 wire -- I won't split it up unless I can't sell it all together.

  15. All orders will ship from our warehouse -- in the order they came in.
  16. interesting. how about a tube vid of it playing in a car? when you say moderately sized seal box are we talking like 1.5cbf for a 12? Mind sharing how you obtain these measurements just for interest sake? Thanks. Suppose I could video it -- ~140 dB systems aren't that exciting I am using a 1 cube box for my testing; a more moderate box would be flatter (1.5 to 2 cubes). One of my favorite sealed woofers of all time was the Dayton Titanic 1200 (first version) - which called for 3 cubes sealed PS: Woofer Tester to get the specs / FEA package for the x-max
  17. That is correct. We try to rate them so it's literally impossible to damage them with an amp of rated size (TRY is the key word). The dust cap warmth is totally normal and also a sign the coil ventilation is working well -- the dust cap pumps air in and back out of the motor so it makes contact with all the hot air generated in the motor.
  18. So an interesting project came my way... a client asked me to try out some of the NeoPro speakers for Guitar purposes... which I have had a few folks try them for bass guitar and like them but not regular electric guitar. Client comes back to me stating the NeoPro drivers are entirely too clean and then lends me an old vintage speaker that he considers the "driver to have" for this application -- which is tube amplifier electric guitar. So I analyzed it a bit... and came up with this : * Ribbed, thin paper cone with very small dust cap * Actual paper surround - one piece with the cone * Low excursion spider with completely un-vented frame * Un-vented motor Many of the design elements are to purposely introduce distortion -- as this is what Guitar guys seem to like. In any event... I am not a guitar player so I won't have more thoughts until the client tries it out and lets me know. You never know... we may be doing Guitar speakers if all goes well
  19. Some more actual pics now that I have them... I may go to the old style spade connectors for the 6.5" as the sprint terminals don't work as well on this frame as the other sizes... but otherwise pretty happy with them so far :
  20. REMAINING ITEMS (still available) : TRF MOTOR / BASKET - $350 shipped 4x Ferrite 3" Coil Motors - $125 shipped each RE SE Motor and Basket - $75 + SH SMD 15-D1 - $600 + SH 2x Z v.1 With 15" Frames - $125 + SH each 2x "X-12" Motor and baskets - $100 + SH each
