  1. Will be updating this as we move along building one of each. Each one will be relatively fresh with ~5 minutes of break-in time playing low frequencies on our bench 1500D. Amount of break-in between coil configurations isn't necessarily identical -- check CMS, a lower number indicates the suspension is still tighter. Stock 3 Hard Spider Suspension on each model with "daily" stock coils. 2. Next step... once the SA-10/12/15 revisions come in I'm going to send the 12" in for Klippel to start research on what I may be able to do for a full v.2 revision for 2012.
  3. You guys know I am always working to improve things! As good as the SA series is I sat down and though, "How can I make them better ?" A few things came to mind on the 10/12/15 design : 1) I tested a different rear pole flare shape that is a little more efficient so I will be implementing that. As if the SA needed more thermal capacity, right ? 2) I am going to add a magnet ID shorting ring -- almost nothing in this price range has a shorting ring (the Type-R is one of the few I can think of). This will reduce inductive distortion and produce a bit less reactive impedance rise. So these are some things I'll be working on introducing to the SA series around summer time. The shorting ring is the first revision that concerns me at all mixing with old models... most likely will not be a huge problem to mix, though. So the part number will not be changed to v.2 The shorting ring is actually quite expensive but I am using my newest cost savings from bringing in higher quantity to keep the cost the same for customers. To date the SA series price has only changed about 6 dollars from the original pricing despite the constant improvements. Should you wait for these if you are in the market now ? Most likely not -- while both are improvements they won't be night and day different. ----- Now... for the SA-8 I have been testing some things for a little while now... I'm not quite done but I've come up with a few things. I am still in the testing phase... but these changes include a different frame, newly custom tooled spider, and possibly an all new coil design. For now I'll just post a picture of an early sample with the new frame as more testing is in order for these revisions. The new spider hasn't made it's way to me yet so data is limited If all of this works out this WILL be a v.2 unit and not compatible with older units -- but no worries... I have several hundred of the current models on the way for anyone that needs a match to have their chance. v.2 SA-8 First Sample... this one I was testing the new frame and coil -- the new spider is not done yet.
  4. Actually I did buy the whole explorer
  5. The 2500s are available now : 12x SAZ-2500D USED -- Excellent Condition - $575 each shipped These are from the Team Sundown Explorer Build with 12x NS v.2 18s I purchased it and I am selling all the stuff for the time being 1-year warranty
  6. Use a DMM to trouble-shoot the actual voltage @ the amp on the power and remotes.
  7. Waiting on revised samples to arrive for testing before making any further moves.
  8. I've known Nick from IA for years before I started Sundown We met in 2002 -- they got in the game at a GREAT time with the 20.1 and 40.1 and I think you would be amazed at how many of those amps are out there. We are a bit bigger on the forums as that is where we started and I'm alot more of a "forum guy" than Nick is.
  9. Nothing has changed since my last post on the 7th -- I won't have any parts or anything until the end of February (roughly). All of the molds for each custom part must be made then sample parts must be made. China is about to close down for a bit for CNY so that isn't helping.
  10. No lights may indicate a bad remote wire signal.
  11. Some tweaking may still be in order, of course.
  12. We will be filling it up with even more information soon.
  13. http://www.sundownaudio.com/ Now that it is live we'll be working to fill in much of the details missing from the old site regarding woofer specs. We decided to go ahead and take it live now to show the new photos of everything.
  14. I lost all my old WT data when I got the new version -- only the impedance chart loads. In any event... the BL^2/RE goes down but MMS decreases at a higher rate so the ratio is better for SPL.
  15. I don't plan to offer quad stock but I wanted to leave it open for the future as I am tooling the frame anyway.
  16. That is the plan for this line. If they sell well I will make an ultra high-end line.
  17. Anywhere from 3 - 4 cubes From 25 to 40 Hz tuning A good average is ~3.0-3.25 tuned to 35
