  1. SA-8 D2 w/ Aluminum SPL Coil -- I had a thread about the idea here : http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53745 151.6 passenger side kick measurement at 68 Hz. We haven't re-clamped since moving stuff around but it was clamping 1670 watts yesterday at 151.0 dB -- HU volume hasn't changed, we simply moved stuff around so we are assuming power isn't a whole lot different. We are going to get another video soon as well... we got a 152.2 in the driver side kick panel. Haven't had time to do a video just yet.
  2. We are actually staying in the same town - just moving to a significantly larger building.
  3. It wouldn't be too hard to put a new LED in -- or Chris @ db-R could do it for you for a small fee if you send it to him.
  4. I wouldn't say it's common at all but we have seen it before. Our test bench 1500D that we used for about 2 years had it's power LED out.

  6. Thanks guys -- I was pleased with how well they sold and also overwhelmed with the amount of orders we had so quickly... lots of sub building has been going on here this year!
  7. Happened alot faster than I thought... but the first run of motors is totally sold out as of today. If you have already paid for one you are fine -- just did inventory this morning and we cannot sell any more than we already have. It will be a few months for more as I had to get a huge amount of amps started before the MOSFET shortage hit and also had to strengthen stock of the better selling SA line first. I will make a post when they are available again -- of course parts and re-cones will remain available the whole time. Just no new units until we get motors again.
  8. ... and since I was just joking above ... I will repeat A 1.4 DCR coil is 2 ohms nominal... you can assume it is a 2 ohm for wiring your amp. An amp designed for 1 ohm will handle a 0.7 DCR load -- it's taken into account. Same goes for wiring numerous woofers together... I've tested it and I've wired up a "few" of our amps over the years to 0.7 / 1.4 DCR woofers (1 ohm and 2 ohm nominal respectively).
  9. Total gap width is 4.60mm Former to pole is 1.05mm Coil to top plate on D2 is ~1.1mm (varies slightly in coil tolerance) Coil to top plate on D4 is ~1.5mm (varies slightly in coil tolerance)
  10. You know... you are right... you probably know more about how to wire the amps than me
  11. Simply assume they are 2 ohms for this exercise. Wire to 4 ohm each woofer than all in parallel for 1.33 -- each amp will see 0.67
  12. There is former to pole gap and coil to top plate gap -- or do you simply want total gap width ?
  13. On what side of the coil ?
  14. The Z and NS 10s are around 2x the weight of the SA series... much larger magnets and over 2x the motor force.

  16. I do not have that. Derrick could probably make you a vinyl with the lettering cut out that you could use a stencil.
  17. Probably 16-20 dollars for you to send it to me -- and less for me to send it back to you... going by average rates assuming you aren't in California
  18. It's the same price -- 40 dollars + SH to re-cone it with a new frame. They are very picky about enclosures -- as an 8" has a very small spider and the SA-8 has just as much motor force as the bigger SA woofers. It makes mechanical failure arise well before any hint of thermal stress, especially if the box is any bigger than about 0.5 cubes. Newer spider should be even more resistant to mechanical stress in alternative enclosures like T-Lines and whatnot.
  19. If you have an open coil you probably broke the tinsel lead wire -- if the enclosure is bigger than we suggest it can be done by mechanical stress on the lead wire. It is quite unlikely you actually damaged the coil itself -- have yet to see that on an SA-8, actually. The newer spider setup will help alot with holding up to even more continued mechanical abuse.
  20. Also - you will get a brand new updated part with your re-cone New spiders that will be making production units in December will start appearing on re-cones as of next week.
  21. In that case it is bolted down -- I would HIGHLY recommend getting the new frame as well.
