  1. some of the higher end sony decks, like the early 2000 models that retailed for 800+. i have a higher end version of those
  2. i used a 1000 watt computer PSU and just wired it to my amp. ran my 600 watts rms just great, i used a fuse just in case, but no battery. by the way, my electric bill took a small jump.
  3. When its in Tulsa i'm down, i could get bestbuy to play a role. it would be good publicity. shut down the install bay for a day and do nothing but metering and kickin it.
  4. i work car electronics and home theater, i just use my own CD's because i know which songs sound best on which speakers
  5. LOL yeah the box moves a little more than i would like, ill prolly end up bolting it down. i couldnt make it any wider or it wouldnt have fit in the opening, and i wasnt prepared to build the box in the trunk.
  6. This will focus on the sound deadeneer portion of my install, more details when all the beauty panels are done and ready for public viewing. There is more under the tire well that was too hard to get to to take pics THIS STUFF IS LIKE GOLD the rattles are very minimal and 100000x better than before with my old setup. it does extremely well trying to contain the 3 12's lol More detailed pics of car and insides once it gets cleaned up, comments appreciated
  7. They dont make their rated power, and they often get warm or hot. That being said, i would still run them. For the price they work. you just have to keep in mind to get an amp that will do more than you need because most of them arent doing their full power. I had a friend run the gothic series amps, one was the 1000 watt monoblock, the other was the 800 watt 4 channel. The monoblock did about 700 watts at 1 ohm without getting too warm, and the 4 chan did about 50x4. He paid 275 for both amps, new in box, so i think he got a good deal, i know he was happy.
  8. Look into cold cathodes. they use a very small amount of power also and i personally have had better experiences with them www.xoxide.com Cold cathodes peace
  9. Stock 6x8's Qpower tweeters Ran off a visonik 200 watt 2 12" CVR Autotek 900.2 4.0 cubes Carbon fiber/fiberglass tuned to 32hz This is a very old vid, after this I smoothed the box out and did another layer of carbon fiber, this this was strong as can be. Posting just as a comparison to what I have cooking up right now, build pics and vids sometime nxt week <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>enjoy, all coments welcome EDIT: how do i embed?
  10. I work at best buy, and it not that great of a price. not horrible, but better deals can be found I know i sold a 720 50" samsung plasma, one of our best 720's, and it was 899.99 retail, we let it go for 849
  11. I have a chance to purchase a pair of Kappa 6.5 coax for very very cheap. They are rated at 75 rms, and i know they have good SQ, just wondering if they would really take 75 watts My amp Autotek (oldschool) 4x75 rms at 4phm 4x150 rms at 2ohm Any opinions? im looking for something loud for under 60 bucks, would these be a good buy?
  12. q-power is very inexpensive and pretty loud, but has a really weird sound to it. go on sonicelectronix and look at the JBL gt or gto, they will have about the same true power handling as the q power, and they are 90 shipped. OR in the for sale section here, there is a guy thats was selling 2 MMats 15" subs for 175 shipped, pretty beastly subs. q-power would be ok, just not my first choice in that price range EDIT: ebay has some CVR 15'' for 110-120 shipped, in my opinion, one of the best subs for the price
  13. i prefer the "prove it" method. tell him to bring his crap and do a head to head, unless he is scared thats he knows he will lose. bet big, like $400 credit at the shop. worked for the "my 'dual' 12's and explode amp do a 159.3. i told em if my one type r 12 wasnt louder, i'd give it to them. lets just say he never even got a chance to turn his system on.
  14. just bought a cap from him. Product was shipped within hours of payment, gave me a great deal, was very easy to be in contact with, packed the item very well with egg cartons and bubblewrap. Overall a pretty much perfect experience, can't wait to go install it asap. Thanks, would be my pleasure to do business with again.
  15. silly goose, dont turn it up all the way better to have head room than try to get more power and risk clipping
  16. I'll meet you all there, i live 10 minutes from the convention center
  17. quick update took it to a local audio shop. i described the problem to him. he deduced from the symptoms that my system was some how drawing current away from either the ECM or the fuel pump. Long story short, he moved my remote wire to the power antenna accesory and i've been going strong for 2 days (knock on wood). Thanks for the help everyone, i'll post again if something goes wrong, sure hope not though.
  18. ok, so basically do an extra 8ga run in parallel to the b+ wire, and do NOT do a run in parallel with the fuse edit: its been raining outside for about 2 hours so i thought it would be a good idea to not work on my electrical out in the rain i'm just gathering ideas to try once it stops
