Hey everyone, my name is Adam and I was just curious on what category I could fit into for competitions and stuff. I have been around the car audio realm for a little bit and was wanting to get involved in competing when I get out of the Marines in October. I will start to set up my Explorer so that it will be within the guide lines. I would like to do the loud music on a mic. I think this is bass racing. Correct me if I am wrong. And I also know that people are going to knock me for using two XXX 12's to be loud too because they are not spl subs. But it is what I want to do anyways. Any help would be appreciated on this. And would my classification have any draw backs with me having an upgraded alt and two batteries?

I know you are about to get rained down with everyones opinions and such, so I will go ahead and take a few from some people and say Kinetik Batteries are the shit. I have two of them.

Looking forward to seeing some more progress on that box. So far I am just in shock. That thing is going to be rediculous. I know I am in Okinawa right now...well actually the Philippines on a work trip. But when I get home. It kind of sucks to know I will be in Alabama and will never get a chance to meet all the kick ass people and see the projects from this site. Oh well. Really it all depends on what you want the head unit to do for you? What do you want out of it?

I have had some good experience with MTX's mono amps in the past. I don't know about there new line though. For the buck that is.

Ok when my sub is turned up really loud I know it is not bottoming out. I am pretty sure it is clipping. I will turn it up and on the high notes it just sounds normal, but on the really low low's, it starts to pulse on whatever tone it is on. kind of like a soft popping sound...This is clipping right? Which means the amp is pushing all it can and is not getting enough power to it or something right? Does that mean the sub can still handle more power if it is not bottoming out yet? Maybe I should get a bigger in line fuse?

Good on you for fitting that thing in there. I only did 7 cubes in mine for that 18, and I know I am doing 145-150ish. It is rediculous. I will also find a meter soon to verify. I will have to search hard. Not too many audio shops in Japan. Nice ride and box though. If if works for you then that's all that matters right?

Well before I came into the Marine Corps, I did not have anything other than 2-12's and now after playing the 6-12's I had in my explorer until last year...I cannot pass a hearing test. I played it full tilt every day...every where I went....Paying for it now and in the future. Don't care though. I still love my subs.

Same here...I don't mind their high end hu's..Just don't like amps, speakers, or subs.

Funny yes....but fucked up.

My subs did not come with a manual or anything.

My head unit used to skip from the bass from the subs...I used to take pencils and stuff and wedge them into the dash between the head unit or popsicle sticks...call me ghetto..it works. It keeps the head unit from bouncing 1/4 inch up and down within the dash.

I was told to baby my amps and subs for my truck by a local car audio shop for at least a week.

I hear the word nub and I cannot help but get a visual. ha ha.
