  1. i work at a trans shop and we used to see that all the time on gm trucks of that vintage. The ignition switch can go out and make the transmission loose power. It will then put it in a "limp mode" which will start you in a higher gear and wont let it shift into overdrive. A cheap or almost free fix for this is to simply run a new 12volt power wire to the transmission. It dont need to be a heavy guage wire. You can run it off your fuse block in the truck but put a fuse on it. 10 or 15 amps is plenty. There is a pink wire on the passenger side transmission case connector. That is the main 12v in for the trans and if this wire looses power for an instant when truck is running the trans will go to limp. There are 4 rows of wires on the case connector, the pink comes in 1 of the middle rows, im not sure which 1 but there is only 1 pink wire. It will be all the way towards the front of the connector in 1 of the middle rows. That should take care of it.
  2. Been lookin around for a pair of Cerwin Vega fifteens. I got a set of D-9 Vegas in really good shape that i wanna freshen up. The surrounds just rotted on me and was thinkin maybe upgrade the woofers if i could find something. I know the price already to get the old ones refoamed. Would like some of the "Vega" series from late 90's like i used to have before they got stolen. Dont really like the looks of anything new they got. Been checking craigslist and ebay for a bit with no good luck. I know theres better out there than vega but this is more of a nastalgia thing so id like to keep the brand the same since i usually got the grilles off. I wouldnt even mind the older ones from early/mid 90's. Plus this could be a way to convince the warden that i need a bigger home theater amp.
  3. I am trying to sell my JL Audio 8w7. It was working good till one day the surround got a little hole in it. I started touching more spots of the surround and it just started to disintegrate. I tried to put silicone over it to try and get a little more use out of it but didnt work too good. I cant find a recone or surround kit for it. I think u gotta send it to JL for them to fix it. Motor and frame in very good condition. $100obo
  4. I am selling my Digital Designs 9515g with dual 4 ohm voice coils. Subwoofer works perfectly. Only thing wrong with it was the dustcap was pushed in. I put a bit of resin on the dustcap to keep it hard so it didnt make any noise. I had it running on 2400rms and it sounded good. Surround, cone and motor are in near perfect shape. $375 and we can work out shipping if interested.
  5. On the inside of the amp, both the power terminals go to 1 big block. But running both sets will let more amperage through the wire. I got an 800.2 which came out a year after the 800a2. It runs hot but its been in like 5 cars with different sub setupsand still works good. By birthsheet said like 980 watts @ 4ohm mono
  6. some of those systems on that car has a "variable flow compressor" which means the compressor always keeps running. The compressor varies inside to change the flow instead of the clutch coming on and off. I know some of the late 90's cavaliers worked that way. The pressures will change slower instead of an on and off type of compressor.
  7. i got 2400 on my level 5 18" and i think i can hear it laughing at me when i turn it up
  8. Then don't worry bout their website. Just go there, they got them. Klien is good brand. Take a little piece of wire with u and try them out before u buy
  9. I got some off snap on truck they work really good but expensive. Lowes or home depot should have soomething descent iin electrical department
  10. vids from like 5 or 6 years ago so i would hope cops wouldnt want to do anything bout it. Maybe its hard to tell from the video but it did do 150+ easy. I had a gps and speedo was pretty accurate. Car had a lot of bolt ons and ran pretty good for a heavy car.
  11. the box was mounted to the underside of the rear deck. I still had all my trunk floor space. The port came out of the side of the box and then came up on the corner of the deck. You couldnt see it in the video
  12. it sounded really good. I tried it sealed first and i didnt like it. This box was 2.2 ported tuned to 33 hz. This video is from about 5 years ago. I had the trunk and deck completely sealed off. Did a 146.7 on 1600 watts. Most people thought it was 2 12's or 2 15's it hit so hard. It even popped the window seal in the back after a few months. Then i changed it to a pair of them with 2 hifonics brutus 1605d amps but i dont have a video of that anymore. I put the subs in my closet for a few months and when i took them out, 1 of the cones was locked up. The magnet shifted to the side and locked up the voice coil. Kind of cheap construction or glue if u ask me.
  13. what about putting the tape all over the car without the box in it. Then put box back in and then use the spray foam. if u need to take it out the actual foam wont be stuck to your car, it will be on the tape. But it should still expand and seal all the air leaks
  14. Can somebody pm me price for 4 level 4 xl 15" shipped to florida? Can't get ahold of rusty atm.
  15. I just went to a road course and ran my brothers taurus sho with him on the track. It did ok but even thou he got upgraded brakes they were still gettin hot and smoking. U could get one of those yamaha engines & put in it. Its not real fast but faster than average car and blows most hondas and stuff like that away(unless they got a lot of mods). Some guys in his car club got turbos and 1 got a supercharger in it.
  16. I also ran a new 18g ground from battery in trunk to headunit but that didn't do anything. I was reading that article somebody posted from crutchfield about ground loops
  17. Only got 1 battery in the back, none in front. I did get somewhere today. I changed grounding points on engine and alternator to frame grounds. Its about 80% gone now. Its odd cause those grounds have been there for over a year and I never had a problem before. Maybe when I moved batt to the back, the engine grounds weren't adequate...
  18. I just added a metra noise filter on the power in to headunit. Didn't do anything... I only have 1 battery but I moved it to back by amps. I got 2 seperate 1/0 negatives coming off battery to 2 seperate locations and paint was removed to make a good ground.
  19. New ngk wires, plugs, cap and rotor installed bout 6 months ago(1700 miles)
  20. Will it work? Yes, for a while. If u got enough wood, double it up. I onlly did it once bout 15 years ago for 2 tens on 300 watts. It worked for 4 months till I upgraded to 1 15 with a good ported box with mdf. It will flex but should get u by for a bit till u can get some better materials.
