  1. We have many bassheads down here in the Virgin Islands simply because we have no law for loud car audio. The bad thing is though, everyone down here dig the mainstream brands like JL, MTX, and Kicker. I haven't seen anyone down here dig stuff like RE or Ascendant or Fi or any of the underdogs. This is why I want that, so I will be different.
  2. Ok... As I said I would do, I checked my Amp grounds and battery terminals. Everything seems nice and tight. I don't think it's the battery because it starts my Zuk easily and repeatedly. Plus it's voltage is above 12.4. So I think my alt. is about to croak
  3. Dead battery AND alt? Now that scares me
  4. OMG I cannot believe I am watching this vid only now. At first I thought it was a joke but damn, was I wrong. It's funny how she noticed that her eye was shaking right before Steve turned the bass up, and then before she could do anything...oops ;D Oh man. Hey steve you looked a little scared at first !!!
  5. They are the best I know of. They are extremely efficient, extremely small and extremely powerful Most importantly, due to their efficiency they are easier on your alternator. A friend of mine has one that puts out 1400W @ 1 ohm and is cold as ice. He has it on 2 JL 13W7s > GET THIS AMP
  6. True true true... But I am looking into an Iraggi alt. I just don't have the funds yet. I think I can get up to 240A from him for my Zuk
  7. yes. I'll make sure all connections are secure tomorrow. But I really do think it's the regulator. Because an 80 A alt. should be able to drive an 800 Wrms amp at moderate vol.
  8. This is really strange. For about 2 weeks now I have been experiencing much more dimming of my lights when my bass hits. Even at LOW volume my lights dim significantly. When I have the A/C on and the compressor kicks in sometimes my whole system shuts down....headunit, amp and all. Then everything comes back on. I am guessing that my voltage is dipping to 10-ish volts right when my bass hits. This tells me that my regulator on my alt. must be failing. I say so becuase as long as my compressor doesn't kick in I'm getting 13.6 V at my battery terminals while idling. Checked the battery too...12.6 V when engine is off. 13.4 V at my amp while engine is running. Do you guys have any other culprit in mind for this problem? -------------- 80 A alternator Coustic 1600D Sub Class D amp. (1) MTX 8500 4 AWG wiring Stock battery 4 Farad Power Acoustic Cap
  9. Experience has taught me that concrete walls (I'm assuming that's what you have) can be very harsh on bass response. It just makes it sound all echoy with no warmth. A wooden place would give you a better resonance. But I'm not telling you to change rooms. :- What you prolly should do is keep the sub to the side of the room you usually sit on the most, but pointing in the opposite direction. That way, the distance is greater which will help you catch the lows (since lower frequencies are longer waves). If that doesn't help, point it upward and see what happens.
  10. How do you post a pic without attaching it so that it appears right away without having to click and download it? :-[ thanks for the help guys
  11. I got a DELL 20 inch Widescreen. At first it was the biggest thing I had seen, but now it's like ehh. I could use 30" right about now. That's what I need.
  12. Hey...I'm Dale.... I live in the Virgin Islands. I found this site while checking out the RoE site. Sweet site. Anyway, I was so impressed with Steve's work I just had to be a part of this. I've been into audio since I was about 8 or 9-shortly thereafter I started repairing speakers (rewire, coil upgrades etc) because it was too expensive to buy one. Now it's not worth it. Bottom line...glad to be here. Peace
