Yes where ever you set it while using the dd1 if you change it after you will be getting distortion

I think all hu are diff on the base lvl thing ive heard alpines you turn all the way up when setting as for pioneer you get at 0 thats what i set mine at if you turn the base lvl up to 6 it makes the bass all muddy

bass lvl 0 and yes disconnect the speakers
