New Dc Audio Demo Truck (pics)
Team Bassick - Kimo replied to WCA Rusty's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Man this reminds me of a slow starting porno. Gets you all excited but takes for ever to climax!!!!!! -
If you do it write. If you build almost like a blow through on a truck it should be OK. Personally I'd build a bandpass. We've done that before. Its not easy. Even with the box building program its not easy.

ur such a tease -
Man you've got some different approaches to do. Caravan speaks the truth about firing woofers forward and port up or forward works. If your port throught the rear deck only better make that box a band pass. Which cna still get loud but, your gonna need a box program. the sealed approach firing at the rear deck works but Sealed boxes gets low and loud but you can get so much louder witha ported box. Or you can just go old school and fire everything back and dynamat, foam and secure every part of that trunk.

Electrical Help

Yellow Top Retails for about $179 Kinetik Retails for about $500 but, Navi on here is selling 2 for $225 each right now in the for sale section of this forum Definately a good price. -
I need measurments to be sure but I'd assume you got something like 5-6 cubes. Most 12's take anywhere from 1-2 cubes for a ported enclosure so your about right I think.

I wouldn't say thats the only way but definately easy. I was going off his application too. We've built similair box designs like that in hatchbacks. woofers up and port back will definately get you loud. But, by the looks of his port and box its doesn't look like its tuned for music. It might be becuase I know Steve's is not long or big its small and short (I'm talking about his Port here damnit!!!!) My suggestions instead of ripping out the box and building another one salvage that one by using aero ports and he should be happy with the results. again my .02

which track? you got a video of this demo too? I assume its an old 80's track. -
basically maybe. the flared ports do two things. makes it smaller and channels the air flow. its called the venturi affect (i might be wrong). there are noticable gains SPL wise with them. I've use them in a few of my boxes and if you tune them low they are nice to work with. heres a link: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?&a...in&desc=ASC you can make an adjustable port like Steve. I don't think Steve has really used it that much since he build it though. LOL. again brotha thats my recommendation if you wanna get a little louder and lower. not sure if thats gonna work but, it has for us.

Well this should be impressive. I assume your gonna have it ready for a demo session withing the month. Oh lets says August 27th in Sacramento? Wouldn't surpisce me a bit with the way things are coming together with it. I mean hell the Reno show was 12 days ago and you didn't even own this truck yet. Its already tinted, exhaust, I'm sure I read K&N some where and something about a programmer. The box build is already on its way of course that is something you could knock out in a day or two provided all the parts are in. No One can acuse you of lagging thats for sure. Looks Good Bro. Can't wait to see it done. Which probably be next week. -

seen NO but have heard. I assume its some sexy shit. So what Batterys going under the hood? -
you might not be gettng enough back preasure. That looks like a common SPL box from back in the day. True Steve's box design is similiar but I bet Steve's port is way smaller. If you want to do trial and erros I'd say either cover or remove that port side of the box and put in two 4" flared ports between the 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd pair of woofers firing backwards. Start off with the full length that comes with the flared port kits and go from there. just my .02

New, Different Organized Competition

So is this just a NYC thing? Why not push a national or international organization that has established rules and so on. USAC, IASCA, DB DRAG have done drastic changes to their formats over the past 10 years so that systems builds are back to what they are suppose to be about "Playing Music". It appears that what your trying to accomplish. Some how judge those systems by how loud they are on music as well as how loud they are. To avoid confrontations judging one vehicle at a time is going to be your best bet. Using a Meter is also gonna give you the best result as there is no personal bias opinion. Meter using two different readings. Sweep the vehicle and record the highest SPL. Then have them play music for 30 seconds and record their average SPL. If the Sweep SPL is louder than the Music SPL. Than the Sweep SPL is there score. Now if the Music SPL is louder than that is their score. All ties have to repeat their high scores. If tie again, they have to repeat their second score again. If they get louder they lose if they don't hit the same number they lose. I DIDN'T PUT TOO MUCH THOUGHT INTO THIS BUT, JUST AN IDEA. I'M A DB DRAG COMPETITOR AND I DONT INTEND ON CHANGING OR ANYTHING AND I'M HAPPY WITH OUR FORMAT. IF NYC WOULD LIKE TO JUMP INTO ONE OF THE ESTABLSIHED ORGANIZATIONS WOULD BE THE BEST FOR EVERYONE. -
Thats cool. They're up now. Rusty gonna becoming down for the sac show on the 27th?

Man thats old school RF so they are underated. Now I think about it RF still underates there amps. I guess it wouldn't be underating more of what it can put out RMS all day at 12 volts. If I remeber that amp can probably put out close to 500 watts. I might be wrong. I own 2 60ix. I use to have the 100 and the 200 DSM. Both clean powerful amps. Just by todays standards that 8 gauge input ain't cutting it. I'd run at least a 4 gauge wire from the battery back fused 12-15" behind the battery and fuse it again right before the amp and drop it down to an 8 gauge there. You could also just shave the 4 gauge down to fit in there. Which might be better. Good Luck Man.
