  1. like the title says.. I know we all like pics, so lets see pics of what you've been carrying the most lately, or what you've been putting the most rounds through recently... or just shit you own...post 'em up These 2 arent in the safe ever...either gettin carried, shot, or cleaned....They both live in the nightstand. First up, tried and true 1911, its a Daly EMS series..been shot a hell of a lot..blueing is wearing off and its a little rough from use... but this gun and I have a connection... it always goes bang, is smooth as silk and puts em right were you want, has a trigger job and polished guts... Its a little heavy, and a little big for some, but I like it. Its with me at work, and on the night stand at night, always cocked n locked unless its getting shot or cleaned. This is what I shoot the most rounds out of as of late. Its cheap, accurate and fun. 15 bux and you can shoot all day and then some. Rossi model 518 DA in .22LR, adj. sights, definitely a good nuisance critter eliminator and plinking toy..it hard to set this thing down sometimes. and it is especially fun to shoot these out of it. So so so quiet..I think my boys cap guns are louder...these have no gun powder in them, primer compound only...
  2. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo.... I likey. I've been kickin around the idea of gettin an ATI just to have another 1911...looks like I know which one...
  3. Smoke, most of the 1911 talk was to others on here or in general, I dont think Op was considering a or leaning towards one.... And +1 on the ammo recommendations... either is a good choice.
  4. Best bet..dont ask her, politely tell her what you are going to buy. Go buy it,andthen take her shooting and teach her to use is properly. Mostpeople that are afraid of guns are afraid of them because of a lack of knowledge, not because of a bad experience, so typically if you can educate someone on the safe useage of a firearm, they will be much more apt to being "cool" with it. To the OP, if you would like my opinions on what makes a good home defense shotgun, shoot me a message and Ill gladly give you my recomendations and what to stay away from. Again I am no "expert"...but, much the way some of you are with your knowledge of systems, is how I am about guns, and have been for a long time. I carry alot, Ive been shot at, Ive shot at others, and I am somewhat getting into some shooting sports... (theres a gun club around here that hosts a wicked, tactical style shotgun shoot every year, went and watched last year to see what it was about, Ill be shooting in it, and kickin ass n taking names this year....5k shells is a hell of alot of practicing..lol)
  5. I know that..sorry for getting so OT....but if you are purely looking for a home defense gun, and have limited time/experience with pistol shooting/operations... buy a revolver or better yet, buy a 12 ga shotgun. Hr makes a great remington 870 clone that is available through dicks for less than 200 new. A 12ga is hands down the best home defense weapon someone can own. Especially is that someone doesnt own other guns or isnt a shooter...its a whole hell of a lot easier to hit something in the dark with 00buck than with a single bullet. Not to mention a typical round of 00 buck has 9 pellets in it, each one is about the same size as a 380 bullet...and most likely at home defense ranges, all 9 pieces of shot are going into your target...so lets think about that...1 shot with home defense 00 buck= getting shoot 9 times with a handgun, where as getting shot once with a handgun= getting shot once with a handgun. Not to mention the manual of arms is much much less complicated with a shotgun, especially if you were to buy a side x side style... put in 2 shells, close breech, shoot, repeat. bout as simple as it can get. I would definitely not recomend a pistol as your only go to gun, or as your first ever gun, especially if for home defense.
  6. ^^Thats what this place is for man....No problem. And if you have any questions regarding 1911s and what not..feel free to send me a PM... I'm no master gunsmith...but I sure do know an awful lot about 1911s. Its my gun of choice. And for the money, you cant go wrong with a rock island if you want a cheaper 1911, made in phillipines, on tooling that made the original colts no less. They are cast frames, forged slides, have pretty good tolerances, and shoot amazingly well for what they cost.
  7. You could just buy one of the lower priced 1911s, like Rock Island armory, Springfield GI model, or the like, and the as you get to know what you want from it, mod it. Alot of simple things like extended thumbsafeties and beaver tail grip safeties are fairly easy to fit to the gun yourself, and just about every big city has a 1911 'smith or 2 for installing things like sights etc...thats how I did my first 1911, started out with a plain jane GI model rock island for 4 bills, and when I waqs done with it, it was every bit as laid out as the nicest Kimber or springfield you can buy. And all said and done, I had less into it then a comparable kimber.
  8. ...And Kimbers aren't pricey 1911s. In the grand scheme of all things 1911, kimbers are merely run of the mill, Dont take that the wrong way, I love kimbers, and im not bashing them (they just arent expensive in 1911 land, hell I have a seriously modded Charles Daly that was like 5 bills new, and has had a grnad worth of aftermarket thrown into it, and its still a cheaper 1911)... You wanna talk pricey 1911s.... go look up Ed brown, Les Baer, Nighthawk, Christensen, SPW, etc.. those are pricey 1911s...Avg cost of above makers is 3 large and up. Those are pricey.
  9. You 2 guys above saying the 1911 isnt a beginners gun..Why is that? Is it because you have to carry it cocked and locked? It is no less safe than a glock, or a revolver for that matter. 1911's have a very redundant safety system... thumb safety must be off, and rear grip safety must be depressed fully before gun can fire. I own several 1911s. I am very proficient with them, and I see nothing wrong with gettin a 1911 as a first hand gun, if it is what you want to buy. Carrying a cocked and locked 1911 is no more dangerous than carrying any other gun. What isnt recomended, is carrying a pistol you are un-familiar with, regardless of make or model. If you have spent time familiarizing yourself with the safe operation of a 1911, you would be fine carrying it. Much like any other gun, dont carry it around and expect it to save your life if you dont know dick about it. 1911 is actually a great beginners gun, if you know what you are talking about. Most pistol shooters can pick up a 1911, and even if theyve never shot one, can hit with it as good or better than what they normally carry. A 1911 has great ergonomics, and can fit any sized hand because of the replaceable grip panels and the choice between flat, or arched mainspring housings.... along with having a very low bore axis, and being available in many different calibers, actually makes it a great platform to learn off of, not to mention the fact that the 1911 is hands down, no questions about it, the most readily customizable gun in the world. You can pick your grips, pick your sights, pick your barrel length(3,4,5,6 inch)and so on and so on... and have exactly what you need for the task you will be using it for, so tell me again why it isnt a good beginners gun? because it can be fit well to your hand, or because it points and shoots so well for many many people, or is it that its only a single stack mag? or is it the .45acp round?. I have found that about 90 percent of the gun guys who say "1911s are dangerous", "1911s arent a good gun for a noob", are typically guys who dont own a 1911, dont carry regularly, or just plain dont know what they are talking about. Sorry to have kinda made a rant there..but I really hate when people spread mis-information around.
  10. wow...thats one hell of a description there. One time, I heard this song, and this dude was singing about this thing at this place, then this lady all started doing this stuff, then the guy got all mad, and then some people started dancing....remember that time?
  11. Cheapest option= better subs and more power. Can always make any car louder than it already is..just gotta pay to play...
  12. thats a hell of a request there for free chief.....not exactly like laying out a simple square, slot ported box......maybe you should contact someone like Ram Designs and actually spend the 15 bucks to have something designed....
  13. google is your friend. 8bazillion results when searching for how to wire a ________ woofer...
  14. LOL...... thanks, got it squared away. +1...just by a little, thats why I read thru 'em first. Then post my mindless ramblings.
  15. Possibly ignition related...def check coil packs and plugs. Have coils tested and if youre gonna go thru the effort of pulling the plug, might as well just throw a new set in regardless... its cheap insurance. Pull the plugs and post a screen shot of them... might get an idea of whats going on in there from how the plugs look.
  16. I dont put to much stake in the accuracy of the factory Jeep volt meter...typically in a car the volt meter is not intended to be an exact measuring device..more like just an indicator if things are within acceptable ranges... my factory volt meter doesnt even twitch at all as long as my voltage is above 12.9 and below 15..as long as its in that range my gauge itself hovers right on 14... I trust my digital read out much more.
  17. I hate being a dumbass. I just checked out my new grounds I made and One of them is jiggly in its ring terminal..guess I didnt crank vice down as tight as I thought I did... imma buy me a torch and some new ring terminals this weekend and re solder every single terminal ive done...f this crimping shit. If bossman is cool with it, im gonna pull that cable and re crimp it for now to see if that cures anything. thanks guys..Ill post results shortly..... yall are awesome. Theres gonna be a free beer cooler for some of you guys when I get this meet ironed out.. crimp and solder, use 40/60 rosin core. Thats this weekends project...gonna re do every ring terminal on this muh fukkah so this wont be an issue again.
  18. So... i was thinkin to myself the other day... and I made a decision for you CJ..... only thing left for you to do is drive..... you are gonna come to Ohio for my big meet n greet so I can hear that monster... I need to get my wig blown back hardcore...lol.
  19. Thanks for all the immediate help guys! thats why I love this place....lots of good people here, hence why I wanna throw my meet soon... Anyways, problem solved, had a shitty crimp on a ground wire, and also somehow my run of 0ga to my kinetic had loosened up in the fuse holder and pulled partway out..... I re crimped the ground wire, and reinserted and tightened the ever living shit out of the bolts on the fuse holder... voltage is back to 14.4 cold, 14.0 to 14.2 warmed up...and now doesnt drop below 13.4 playing full tilt for the duration of an entire loud low song..... thats for helping me out guys... sometimes when shit like this goes down, I get all flustered and try to rush and over look the simple shit.... ya'll are awesome. :drinks: :drinks:

  21. Nothing seems like it is getting hot. Everything has a secure connection as well, all my ring terminals are crimped, not soldered... but they were crimped tight as hell in a large vice. Ill dbl check though to make sure... My in dash volt meter reads as though everything is normal, my scorpion that is wired to rear kinetik is showing the 12.9 and dropping voltage... and like I mentioned above, this never happened with the stock wiring so Im guessing I f'd something up or is it likely the optima died and the kinetik is now doing all the work? I hate this shit..kinda wish I would just left it alone...then this prob wouldnt be an issue...damn it.
  22. So here's the deal: Finally got around to finishing my big 3 upgrade on Sunday.... yesterday on my way to work, I was pounding down the highway when I realized my voltage was getting low, down to like 12.2 or so...so I killed the system, and I reached back and flipped the breaker I run on the big amp off, and pretty much turned everything off...voltage came up some but wouldnt go above about 12.9v or so.... So I let it sit, I left work, voltage started off appearing normal, but then soon dropped to below 12.9v, even with everything electrical turned off and the Jeep running... So I stopped at the parts store and grabbed a fresh stock replacement to throw in last night( did this as opposed to buying a beefy alt because jeep is getting sold soon, and my job has a discount and charge account at this parts store.)... So I get home, put in new alt...and fire jeep up for a minute..the voltage climbed up to 14.4 while it was cold then dropped to high 13s at idle, which is what it has always done... So this morning on my way to work, everything seemed normal, until I started to bump the sub hard.... right away my voltage drops down to high twelves and slowly drops from there... So I let the jeep sit for a bit, went out and just started it again, voltage went up to 14.2 and stayed there for a second..and as soon as I start to beat on the sub it drops out to the high 12s again and continues to slowly drop. So real quick I turned jeep off, and then immediately restarted it, voltage wouldnt rise above 13.1v now.... So can anyone tell me whats going on? never had this problem before with stock wiring... Just started after i did my big three, and Ill admit I made a boo boo while doing my big 3, didnt real one of the run was still connected to the optima and I did short it out for a split second ( sparks are pretty), did/would that kill a batt? Jeep has stock 117amp alt, an optima redtop under the hood, big 3 done with 0ga, 250a fuse on run of 0ga to kinetik hc2400 mounted out back, both amps draw directly from kinetik... It basically acted the same with the old alternator yesterday, as it is doing today with new alt... so i dont think its that... Is one of my batteries dead or dying? I dont have a voltmeter at work to check anything, but I can once I get home... Any thoughts on where to look first?
  23. I love me some nice, rotund man tities. Mmmmmmmm....got 40 bucks. And broseph, sometimes there aren't any women around to take care of Henry when he comes to visit.
