  1. hey, I have a buddy helping me with my system and he has taught me the basics to the torres' box tuning calculator. I am building a ported enclosure for a VVX-12 Skar audio sub in my car, and I am not familiar with the general rules of thumb for the port dimensions. Check this out and please help me out and point me in the right direction. I'm aiming for 35Hz btw. Thanks a lot.
  2. god damn that's a lot of sound for a small car. I'm just starting my first build on my Zx2, it's going really slow right now until I get a sub and box material. Looks good though, i get inspiration to do stuff to my car from build logs like yours
  3. You will sacrifice almost all of your trunk space with an 18. a 12 only requires about 1.5 ft^3 plus port volume, depending on the frequency that you are tuning the box to. I suggest 35Hz
  4. There's a lot of calculations that go into tuning the box to a certain frequency with a given volume, so i really suggest getting the chance or finding a friend to download the torres calculator. It's easy, you put in the overall dimensions of the box, then you change the cross-sectional area and length of the port. I'm still working on designing my box and I'm actually getting help from another car audio buddy. From what I hear, it's the best calculator out there so far.
  5. Have you tried the torres box calculaltor? I know the p3 12 suggests about 1.75ft^3 volume so aim for that. Then adjust the port dimenstions to get the frequency that is desired.
  6. Do it right the first time, I decided to go cheap on my first build, and I got rid of it almost instantly. As a rule of thumb, decent mids with SQ and loudness should be at least $100 retail
  7. I just used a typical home receiver hooked up to fosgate power series compenent speakers. I used a car battery and battery maintainer for the amp and sub.
