  1. For a vehicle I recommend getting an SUV. Since I'm a GM guy I recommend a Blazer/Jimmy or a Tahoe/Yukon. For the amps & subs there are many different combos that can give you what you want. My personal favorite combo is 4 RF 12's and 4000watts of RF power.
  2. I guess I'm lucky that I get to use the one at work. That and the fact that my box is 49" wide made building my box really easy.
  3. Right now all I can do is wait on PayPal to contact me for more information or make their decision. I'll definitely let ya'll know what the outcome is.
  4. The place is named fantasias_gifts. I can't believe that they have such good feedback with attitudes like this. Something that makes this worse is that I bought and paid for these on Christmas Day. I aleady have two in mint condition and my wife bought me two more as a Christmas present. This guy talks about the subs being "functional". If I'm putting my truck in a car show, then the looks of these subs are half of their functionality and cracks, tears, & holes aren't too functional in a car show. Yes this was paid for through PayPal and I've already filed a full claim. I'm not worried about him having money in his account because they have an Ebay store with plenty of auctions still going.
  5. Here is his response to my dispute at the bottom. My response is on top. I've now turned this into a full claim and it will be up to PayPal what happens from here. ----- Original Message ----- From: Derrick824 To: Seller Subject: Re: Fosgate HX2 I had hoped that we could work this out on our own, but my concerns were ignored and dismissed as if there wasn't even a problem. The fact is that there wasn't any information in the auction description describing these subwoofers as being cracked, ripped, torn, patched, or damaged in any way. To me that constitutes being significantly not as described. After that there isn't any way I will trust you to exchange these subs. Our business we each other is over. I'm sorry it has come to this. A full claim has been filed with PayPal. ----- Original Message ----- From: Seller To: Derrick824 Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 10:22 PM Subject: Re: Fosgate HX2 HELLO, THIS IS THE OWNER C. M. JAMES IT HAS COME TO MY KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU FILED A Significantly Not as Described Dispute. WE HAVE A NO REFUND POLICY. WE CAN HOWEVER MEET YOUR DEMANDS. PLEASE SEND BACK THE SUBS AND WE INSPECT AND IF NEEDED WE WILL PURCHASE FROM ROCKFORD FOSGATE OR DISTRIBUTOR IF POSSIBLE A 100% FUNCTIONAL PAIR OF HX2 SUBS FOR YOU AND SHIP FREE OF CHARGE. WE STAND 100% BEHIND FUNCTIONAL PRODUCTS. IF YOU STATE THESE SUBS ARE NOT 100% FUNTIONAL THEN WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE. WE APPOLOGIZE FOR THIS INCONVIENIENCE AND WILL HANDLE THE SITUATION WITH FULL PRIORITY.
  6. I'm always picky about what I buy and who I buy from on Ebay. In this case the seller has an Ebay store with excellent feedback. They weren't some random joe that just buys & sells a couple things here & there. They've only had one negative feedback ever and it was over a year ago. I noticed that the stuff they sold was flea-market-style stuff but never imagined it would be like this. The part that I would have laughed about if I wasn't so pissed was him saying that I could hit up to 130db with the subs he sent me. What a joke. I'm currently doing 145db with my two mint-condition HX2s on street music.
  7. Here's a copy of the email as of now. Its backwards and starts at the bottom: From: Derrick824 Your reply completely ignores the fact that I do not want these damaged subwoofers and have asked for a full refund. There wasn't anything concerning the damaged condition of these subwoofers listed in their description and I feel these Items are received significantly not as described. I was hoping we could settle this ourselves but I'm now going to file claims with PayPal and Ebay. As a reputable company, I expect you to make right of this wrong and simply refund my money. ----- Original Message ----- From: Seller Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 7:08 AM Subject: Re: Fosgate HX2 hello, i am Josh one of the reps here at Fantasias and i've been handling your transaction. i can sypathize in your regard to this small issue. first we went through hell to get you these subs which have been discontinued for years and are like gold on the market. the third one was sold in 2 days. i personally have four used 1st gen. mmats subs which also are golden discontinued subs which a screrwdriver went through two. i had to patch my subs. i play competion 151db and slam my subs on daily basis and can take pics of my subs with repairs and show. the subs where tested and slammed with no prob. those subs in a tuned ported box can produce upto 130db. the only damage with those subs is the one you will cause once you professionally install in the correct application and destroy your comepition. if looks is what you need then brand new in the box subs we can offer. if slamming is what you prefer then you have the subs you need. there is no 12" sub in it's class on the market today designed like those subs except the MMats p3.0. A 3" voice coil on a 12" sub is unheard of. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Derrick824 Subject: Re: Fosgate HX2 Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2007 16:19:21 -0500 I received the second subwoofer today and I'm not sure why you even sent this one to me because it is obviously broken. The cone is torn and the surround has a hole in it with a hideous patch job. I thought the first subwoofer I received was in poor condition because of the small cracks in the surround but this one is just in ridiculous shape. I would like a full refund of my $217.95. I do not want these subwoofers in this condition. ----- Original Message ----- From: Seller Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:23 PM Subject: Fosgate HX2 Hey how are you today. One of our reps. should have contacted you with the good news. I would like to add that we also where able to aquire another HX2 sub. If you feel you need a third sub please contact us and I will offer a special price for you.
  8. I am currently in the middle of my first bad Ebay experience out of 100+ transactions. I bought & paid a pair of used RF HX2 12s. The seller claims one was stolen from his warehouse and we agree for him the ship me the one he has left and refund half of my money. When I receive the sub I notice that the surround is in bad shape with small cracks all the way around it, but it still works okay. I'm disappointed that its in this shape but I understand that I did by a used sub. Now I haven't received my money back yet so I email the seller and he says that its in process. The next day I get an email saying that they located a replacement sub and shipped it. I also receive the shipping notice from PayPal and a message through Ebay that says that the police recovered the stolen sub and that its been shipped to me. Now I'm very suspicious because a week after he was susposed to refund my money it was still in process and then I get two conflicting messages; one saying the located a replacement sub & another saying the police recovered the stolen sub. A week later I receive the second sub and now I'm pissed. The cone is ripped badly and the surround has a hole in it with a patch job. This is definitely not what I paid for and I'm insulted that someone would even think that I would accept something in this condition. After emailing the seller with the problem and asking for a full refund I get a response back from some supposed "rep" of the company who talks about how he hits 151db with 4 mmats sub and 2 have holes in them with patches and the subs they sent me play fine and will easily hit up to 130db. Not once did he address issuing a refund or even offer any alternative solution. He just talks jibberish and thats it. I was already pissed that they had the nerve to send me these sorry subs but now I'm irate that this fellow has the nerve to act like nothing is wrong with them and everything is okay even though I made it very clear that I did not want these subs and wanted a full refund. Tonight I filed disputes through PayPal and Ebay as well a sending the seller messages through email and Ebay Messages explaining how and why I'm so upset. I'm not sure how it will go now, but we'll see.
  9. I was in 2 wrecks last year so I can sympathize. Good luck dealing with the insurance company. Sometimes they can be pricks.
  10. Rockford Fosgate owns Lightning Audio.
  11. Good choice. I believe the T1500-1 willl be a much better amp for a pair of T1's.
  12. and route the wires through a hole or a terminal cup No doubt. This was thrown in to catch the last show of this season only to get an idea of the spl (145.5 legal on a TL mic). That's why nothing is mounted & the box isn't carpeted. I'm shooting for 150+ when I get all four in and tuned in.
  13. 2 HX2 12s in 4.5cubes tuned to 32hz powered by a Hifoncs Brutus BX2005D (2000w x1 @ 1ohm). This only temporary as Santa brought me 2 more HX2 12s for Christmas.
  14. Everything is 0awg wire. One ground goes to the side of the alternator bracket just below the alt. The other ground goes the the factory ground on the firewall at the top of the pic. One power goes to the alt and the other runs through the fuse holder & on to the back. This is all add-on w/ my factory wires still connected to the side posts.
  15. 44x24x20 external gives you 10.23ft gross volume. The port will be 18.5x7.25x36.34 external which gives you a port displacement of 2.82ft. 10.23-2.82=7.41ft of volume. WinISD tells me that a 7.41cu ft box with one 18.5x6.5 port 36.34" long = a 32.19hz tune. How did you figure 6cu ft of volume?
  16. For 7.5cu ft. with a 18.5 x 6.5 port it'll need to be 36.34" long to be tuned to 32hz.
  17. I'm figuring that the 44x20x20 are external box dimensions. So using 3/4" mdf your internal dimensions would be 42.5x18.5x18.5 which equals 8.41cu ft. Your port dimensions of 18.5 x 6.5 are internal so again figuring you made this out of 3/4" mdf your external dimensions would be 19.25 x 7.25 x 29 which equals 2.34cu ft. of displacement. 8.41 - 2.34 = 6.07cu ft. after port displacement. Don't forget to account for sub displacement as well. With 6.07ft of usable space and 120" of port 29" long = about a 39hz tune. Somebody please check behind me on this.
  18. You rbox will be 8.5cu ft. minus port displacement.
  19. You can buy those off Ebay. I'm not sure what they're made of or the quality. I make my own stickers & decals at work & could easily make some for ya'll too.
  20. I'd like to see you pull up to a drive-thru window at McDonalds and crank it. Try to vid the reactions of the people waiting in line at the counter inside as well as the employees. Don't give them any warning though. Just an all of a sudden bass note.
  21. I use Gerber Omega. Its the graphic design software I use at work and couldn't imagine using anything else because I'm so used to it. I hate it when I need to use Autocad to import/export files.
  22. Yeah isobarics are old school setups. IMO they are more sq than spl. Nobody builds them anymore.
  23. Isobaric is when you stack two subs so they play as one. The benefit is a small box, but the down side is less spl. What you're describing sounds like a 6th order bandpass. Check out this link. http://www.caraudiohelp.com/custom_car_aud...audio_boxes.htm
